Breakfast with the Chickens

Join me for breakfast~ it will be just us & the Chickens ~

 What’s your pleasure?

Are you a juice drinker? Orange or Grapefruit?

Or do you prefer your vitamin C from fruit?

Do you prefer coffee in the morning or a cup of tea?

If it’s tea, are you traditional?

 English Breakfast or Earl Grey?

Flavored coffee or just plain old java?

Sweetener? Skim Milk or Half & Half?

Would you like a little protein to start your day?

If it’s the weekend~ a beautiful spring day, or a celebratory occasion like Mother’s Day, do you indulge in something out-of-the-ordinary like Eggs Benedict?

Maybe on a biscuit~ Southern Style?

With a serving of Hashbrown and Sausage Casserole with Carmelized Onions?

Recipe courtesy Paula Deen, found here.

Which tastes better (especially the second day) than it photographs  :-)

Or throw caution to the wind and help yourself to Chocolate Gravy and Biscuits~

Something I had never heard of until recently, another of Paula’s recipes found here ~

Would you like a Bloody Mary with Brunch?

Turner’s Creek Bloody Mary, Paula’s recipe found here~

No wonder Paula is always so giddy~ with chocolate & cocktails for breakfast :-)

That is my idea of the perfect brunch..

The table settings, the eggs bene, the bloody mary…

I wish I lived closer to you, I’d just invite myself over for brunch!

We have the same taste in books, it’d be so much fun to sit and sip and talk books!!!!

What a wonderful brunch, With all the time in the world, that beautiful picturesque spot by the lake, your dashing rooster at my side, I’d have to say I’d stay all day at least until noon, and try everything, pace myself with a little chatter in between, laugh, cry and dream a little in your company, and have beautiful memories of a ‘bellissima’ day!

Mary, coming here just made everything right in my world. Chocolate over biscuits.. I am so trying that! and the casserole.. It all looks absolutely scrumptious. Your backdrop is heaven! So envious. Love your table.. I think I’m going to have to check out Kohl’s for those placemats and napkins. Love the rooster, recognized Mr. Fitz & Floyd right away. He’s got such a charming quality.. But… I love the vessel! I have to find one like that. It’s perfect with your choice of dishes, placemats and stemware. You’ve created art on the table!

Hello! I don’t believe that I have been to your blog before now, but I am now subscribing! Your blog is just beautiful. I have a WordPress blog but I’m just getting started. I live about an hour south of you in South Carolina. I can tell that we like a lot of the same things, especially cookbooks.! Your breakfast tablescape is so lovely. Love the rooster plates and everything else on your table.
    Have a great day! Jane

  29. May 12, 2011 at 10:31 am

Oh my gosh! I’m drooling over the tablescape! And the fact that it’s out on the lake. BEAUTIFUL!!! And then the food….I sure don’t want to go pour myself a bowl of Cheerios now! How boring! Biscuits with CHOCOLATE gravy?! YUM!!!

  30. May 12, 2011 at 11:12 am

That’s it! You have crossed the line. You have offered me a Bloody Mary with an OJ chaser with fresh fruit for dessert, Eggs Benedict / Fresh Asparagus on a fluffy Southern biscuit with Hash Browns on the side, and for dessert, a biscuit with Chocolate Gravy beside a calm and beautiful lake, BUT YOU LEFT OUT THE DAY AND TIME OF THIS SPECIAL BREAKFAST! AND, I will need directions to this “hideaway”. You are killing us girl!
I have a hat that will match this setting and I will leave a big tip, as well.

I am so fond of hypericum berries, and they look wonderful with the sunflowers. The food is dreamy. I never heard of chocolate gravy, either. Leave it to Paula Deen! :-) I will have to prepare that for my husband one day. It will make him very happy!!! Beautiful post!
