Blackberry Skewers: basil leaves, fresh small mozzarella cheese balls, and fresh blackberries~
My husband failed appreciate my feminine touches & the accessorizing of his Jeep CJ-8 Scrambler with a crate 350 motor, NV 4500 transmission, Dana transfer case, Dana front and rear axles & Warn Winch. . .
But I enjoyed the juxtaposition of the flowers in contrast to the Warn Winch’s durable 3-stage planetary geartrain and operation series-wound, high-speed motor~ especially when it makes my husband squirm :-)
He did enjoy the blackberry & basil skewers and pasta salads :-)

so funny, i was thinking about your jeep picnic at the beach last week and bingo here it is! those blackberries are sheer brilliance… but so is everything your lens touches… i adore all your styling SO MUCH! its always a big smile on my face coming here, i need to catch up here, i save you until i have time to enjoy, ponder and relish~ thanks for always being my favorite spot online, nothing but beauty and books makes me swoon…
Your imagination knows no bounds…..It is wonderful that even if your ideas ‘contradict/go against this Jeep owner’s core beliefs, values and all he holds dear’ he is still man enoug to give you free reign and lets you have some fun!
I just love your Jeep picnics!!! Especially because…not only do I love Jeeps…I also love picnics!! And I am totally stealing the idea of the blackberry skewers!!
Mary, I love this post from beginning to the last shot (of course, I feel that way about ALL of your posts.) Everything looks so bright and cheerful, just what I needed to lift my spirits.
What a GREAT idea, those blackberry skewers ~ and they are so beautiful, too. Very nicely done. Thank you for sharing all that you do (and do so well!) xo
Most stylish picnic I’ve ever seen! Your quilt and pillows are beautiful – just love the colors. The fresh mozzarella balls, blackberries and fresh basil combination sound so interesting and certainly pretty. Silverware and glasses are darling and the bouquet is right up my alley. Love the neat Jeep! Thanks for sharing your special picnic!
Beautiful! I love the picnic jeep! I have to ask if your hubby went off fishing or hunting or some other manly thing while you set all those pretty girly flowers on his jeep?
That is one gorgeous picnic! Very romantic too! If it was me, it’ll be a big tarp instead of a beautiful quilt and paper and plastic plates and utensils all the way :)
Mary,
What a marvelous picnic! We had a “powerwagon” Jeep once upon a time. It was a Wagoneer, I think. Never decorated it, though. I saw those same blackberry skewers in SL. I made them for a golf benefit party. Wouldn’t you know, I couldn’t find the mozzarella balls so I had to make my own. They looked so pretty that evening. Yours look delish, too.
That’s a great picnic. Love the Jeep!
My pride and joy was an Austin Healy 3000, British Racing Car Green. The last year they made them.
It was no picnic, though! They were so low to the ground, every time I went through a puddle it, would die. It’s a good thing the principal where I taught went the same way I did. He rescued me many a rainy morning! It was a beauty though, wish I still had it!
Mary, I’ll ride on the tailgate if you’ll let me come along. This looks like a perfect picnic outing. You make it all look incredible! Well, obviously it is incredible! I savor my visits here! ~ Sarah
Next picnic, I would even fly in!!! Actually your accessories are perfect with the make and model of vehicle. they accentuate all the ruggedness by setting it off with the most delightful gentler pieces. I love that quilt!! Looks like a wonderful time and an absolutely breathtaking setting. Many blessings, marlis
Wowza! This should be a magazine spread in Southern Living itself!!! Simply gorgeous! Romantic and gorgeous! Inviting, romantic and gorgeous! Dreamy, inviting, romantic and gorgeous! I could go on and on.
This has to be one of the most creative tablescapes ever! Everything is so pretty and your photos are absolutely gorgeous. I can’t let my husband see this post though as he would start searching for a another jeep to restore. Thanks for sharing this fabulous picnic at the Summer Entertaining party.
xo,
Sherry
A jeep picnic….mine would probably have been sandwiches wrapped in Saran and put in a brown paper bag. Not so with my stylish friend. I am wishing for your ideas for 15 tables at a Friday night function. I’m wondering how I got that job!
Tell your husband that his Jeep gets a lot more exposure this way. He should be thanking you. Personally, in addition to loving his Jeep I thoroughly enjoyed all your wonderful accessories that just added to the Jeep’s beauty. The quilt and quilted pillows were great! Just a lovely setting.

What a great picnic you’ve created. I love the combination of blackberries and basil. When I saw your food photo on Foodie Friday I had to see more. Even though men complain sometimes, I think they secretly love it.

Too cute! I’m sure your husband was able to overcome his horror at the flower/quilt/girly paraphernalia in such close proximity to his manly Jeep – picnic goodies probably did the trick!

I’m just smiling like crazy here.
Love all the technical car mumbo jumbo (or at least that’s what it is to me…ha!) thrown in with your romantic picnic-scape!
He has to just love how well you take care of him. Seriously. That was a gorgeous picnic.
And the Jeep looked extra cute ‘dressed up’ in that finery.
