Halloween Treats Tablescape

I have a case of Halloween Fever curable only with table full of treats!

Since Target is one of my favorite Haunts, I’ve been creeping along the aisles for several weeks now, exercising caution & restraint~ until recently. . .

When these Scary Skeletal Hands reached out and grabbed me~ fortunately they prefer to hold a munchkin pumpkin in their clutches instead. . .

My centerpiece inspiration came from Pinterest~  where I tracked down a candy vasedesigned to satisfy any trick-or-treater’s sweet tooth. . . filled with an assortment of candy including Ghost Peeps, licorice, and candy corn~ and limited only by your imagination.

 Easy to scare up on a budget if you’re shopping the aisles of Dollar Tree.

Inspired by Candy Skewers also found on Pinterest from here~  I combined orange slices, Halloween Peeps, licorice from Target and Dollar Tree.

  Polka-Dotted Pails for party favors (from the dollar bin at Target)~ are filled with Pixie Styx, and sinister looking Skull Cookie Pops from Dollar Tree for some frightful fun & tied with ribbon from Michael’s~

 Assorted milk chocolate ghouls, ghosts & goblins from World Market (in a $9.99 bag) offered plenty to fill my vases & pails~

Little skeletal hands from Michael’s are offering up tempting milk chocolate Jack O’ Lanterns~

~~~Beware of skeletal hands presenting treats~~~
My vases are enjoying their first Halloween celebration and seem to put in an appearance only at the holidays~ last used at Christmas here, and previously at an Easter table before that.
Literal “Eye Candy” from Target lend a little blood-shot mix to my candy vases :)
A few tricks in addition to treats~
 Butternut Squash Soup is a favorite for us that we enjoy in the fall. You can find a tasty recipe that we enjoy here.
These Soup “Shooters” are served up in tulip shaped glasses (from World Market) with an easy trick~
Witch Fingers spelled from String Cheese~ with lines carved for knuckles and sliced almond finger nails attached with cream cheese :)
Candy Corn Parfaits~
Cubes of Angel Food Cake, layered with Vanilla Pudding tinted Yellow & Orange with Wilton Gel, pieces of candy corn and  topped with whipped cream~
 Served in Pier 1 Mini Cordial Glasses from their Tasting Party Collection~ portion control enforced :)
True Confession Time~
 While Candy Corn is the quintessential candy of fall & “screams” halloween~  the taste & texture is frightful to me. . .
 It’s festive & fun, but I am not a fan of the flavor :)
    A great Halloween table. I feel the same way about candy corn! But it is great decorating with it. xo
  2. October 10, 2011 at 11:47 am
    What a HUGELY fun post! Turning string cheese into fingers to serve with soup is sheer brilliance, and I love the Halloween candy skewers. You’ve given me great ideas here, not to mention lots of eye candy (if you’ll pardon the pun).
    Mary, Halloween fever hasn’t hit me yet, but now that I’m back in the states it won’t be long. Just need to catch my breath and get back into the rhythm of daily life. Your table is making me smile from ear to ear. Such cute, clever ideas. I can just imagine the fun you had pulling this all together. Great job as always! Thanks for the inspiration.
    i am cracking up, first i was so happy to see you had a 100% candy table, i know i have the palette of a 5 year old and i was so excited to see you sharing my passion… until i read you don’t like candy corn… i will trade figs for candy, k?
    i love this, truly my way to start the day! ok minus the finger soup… but i love it! and of course i can not recreate it because unlike you i would eat every single bite… fun post!
    This is sooo cute! I love your version of the treat skewers and the candy vases.. the quilt is remarkable and the dishes perfectly understated for all the pretties on the table.. My grands would love to be sitting with you! xo marlis (who would too)
    So fun! I have to share this post with my niece in Greensboro who is a Halloween fanatic….She already has her yard decorated and is planning a party this year…
  8. October 10, 2011 at 3:24 pm
    I love the fingers in the butternut squash soup. My granddaughters would love it! I’m like you-don’t like the taste of candy corn, but I like to decorate with it. This was a really fun tablescape.
  9. October 10, 2011 at 4:13 pm
    Fabulous, absolutely fabulous! I just made the candy vase too, but it is nothing compared to this extravaganza! Three vases is three times the fun. Target has been great this year hasn’t it? I love your shooters and your parfaits too. I could just transport this table to my house for our big dinner!
    This is so cute and festive, Mary! You’ve been very creative, as usual. I have to tell you I found the witch fingers in the soup shooters sooo creepy. Very effective for Halloween. ;) Thanks again for sharing your wonderful tables and Happy Halloween (a bit early) to you.
    And a big Halloween-y “Boo” to you! Cute table, love it all, especially the “hand holders”. And the next time a nail breaks I’ll have to remember the cream cheese fix:@)
  23. October 12, 2011 at 3:28 pm
    Your creativity knows NO bounds!!! And my delight is endless!!!! This is fabulous and TRUE eye candy:):) I don’t care for the taste of candy corn either so I use it as filler in vases with candles too!!! Thanks for this scary, frightfully wonderful treat!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! XO, Pinky PS, don’t know why I didn’t get a notice of this post??
  24. October 12, 2011 at 9:04 pm
    Wow, This looks amazing :-) I hope to see you at My Dream Canvas.
    This is sooo fun!! My favorite part is the skeleton finger cheese sticks, but I also love the centerpiece, the party favor pails, and the creepy hand holding that pumpkin!! Gotta look for one of those!! You have such great ideas!
  27. October 12, 2011 at 10:02 pm
    I don’t know which hurts more, my teeth from all the sweets or my cheeks from smiling at how cute it all is. The hand… I would have given my right hand for one of those for my tablescape. Argh – THAT’s what I should have done.
  28. October 12, 2011 at 11:23 pm
    This is fabulous ! My son is going to be thrilled if I recreate this candy extravaganza for Halloween.
    Amazing job , Mary!
  29. October 13, 2011 at 12:19 am
    This is all so amazingly creative and cool, but those scary skull cookie pops are going to haunt my dreams tonight. Man….I wish I hadn’t seen those this late at night!!! Oh, no…I took an Ambien which means I will be TRAPPED in the dream with the spooky skull cookie pop! This is bad. This is very, very bad. My worst nightmares are going to come true vis a vis a cookie pop! :-) I wish I had the wherewithall to put something like this together for my granddaughter and my husband’s grandkids. I have such a hard time creating tablescapes that appeal to children. I could learn a lot from you on that. Adults, though, would go ga-ga over those cheese stick fingers with the almond nails!!! What a great idea!!! You have given me some inspiration to at least TRY to do a Halloween table. I’ll TRY. TRY. :-) You rocked it, sister! Have a great week!
  30. October 13, 2011 at 1:18 am
    So now I’m kicking my butt for not buying those cute little pails when I saw them in the dollar spot @ Target. If I weren’t so OCD a/b them not having any paint scratches! Love every detail. You should be an event planner and get paid for this! Love the candy corn parfaits idea. So thankful my kids aren’t asleep to see all that candy b/c I know they would be wanting that in our home!
  31. October 13, 2011 at 1:18 am
    *are asleep…geez.
  32. October 13, 2011 at 8:55 am
    “Eye Candy” for sure! I love your vases and what you have done with them. I have a feeling that is one expensive centerpiece…but well worth it!! :0)
  34. October 13, 2011 at 1:00 pm
    What a fun table…this truly is a delight for candy lovers, young or old! The candy corn parfait looks so yummy. I love the soup shooters, too…
    Thanks for sharing your Halloween table.
  35. October 13, 2011 at 3:56 pm
    Where in the world do I start? I loved this from first shot. The quilt tablecloth in black and white sucked me right in. Then, I stayed for the candy. Ha!
    I thought the eye candy was the best of the treats until the witch fingers showed up. Now that’s what you call creativity.
    My favorite part would be the skeleton hands holding the pumpkins for some reason.
  36. October 13, 2011 at 4:43 pm
    Such a wonderful clever table! Love those amazing centerpieces and the cheese fingers with almond nails. Hilarious! Love this time of year and you truly captured all the fun of the season! :)
    What a treat!! I’m not a fan of candy corn either, but I love the fun look of your table! The soup shooters and witch fingers look so yummy. and the way you layered the glass vases and added skewers is the cutest. Happy Halloween!
  48. October 15, 2011 at 8:50 pm
    I love the candy skewers, and how you layered the candy in the vases, and of course, I took your links to Christmas and Easter to see how you used the vases there too! Always clever and creative. Oh, and the parfaits are darling, but the idea of putting a candy corn on each spoon is sooo cute! Thanks!
  50. October 15, 2011 at 10:03 pm
    I’m not diabetic, but this would put me into diabetic shock, and I’d sure have a great time getting there. So many creative things to see…takes the term ‘eye candy’ to a whole new level. I was particularly captured by the quilt/tablecloth. I’ll be in the vicinity of Kohl’s tomorrow afternoon, and I plan to make a stop. Thank you for inviting us to your delightful, whimsical table.     What a fun spooky table in a Perfect setting. I loved the parfaits and cheese fingers but had to chuckle at your true confession about the candy corn. My son quotes lines from the movie Elf all the time so he would surely remind you that candy corn is of the five main food groups!
  53. October 16, 2011 at 11:54 am
  54. October 16, 2011 at 5:37 pm
    SWEEEEEET, Mary! It all looks so good! I will send my 4 little grands over, they would eat it all, but no vegetables! :)
    I love the table. And I also love that you took the time to publish the source of your Pinterest ideas. So many are not doing that!
    Here from Seasonal Sunday, I know yours was sweet, someone has to eat all that candy! :)
