Harvesting, Reaping, & Sowing

I’ve spent a little time Harvesting this week. . .

Reaping some of Nature’s Bounty~

Sowing the ingredients for a Pumpkin Vase Centerpiece. . . a few clippings from the garden & fall grasses, along with Sweetgum branches for some leafy fall color. . .

Collecting Sunflowers, Mums, Daisies & Hypericum Berries from the Farmers Market as well as Apples, Kale & Swiss Chard to provide some leafy texture & green color~

Gathering my Harvest Hayride dishes~ along with some Indian Corn, Tiger Pumpkins and my amber goblets~ to provide a little crop of color to the soft black & white palette of the table covering & dishes. . .

My quilt/table covering that sowed hours of Halloween fun as a party to vibrant oranges, glittery purples & blacks is now reaping its reward and resting from all the festivities~ balanced by organic materials and enjoying the quieter &  softer side of the season~

Harvest Details:

Royal Stafford Harvest Hayride dishes/ HomeGoods

Royal Stafford The Blacksmith’s Forge dishes/ HomeGoods

Goblets/ Hobby Lobby

Flatware & Chargers/ World Market

Wishing you a Happy Harvest & the Bounty of the Season~

Gorgeous centerpiece Mary, I especially love the tuft of soft grass! Beautiful plates, such great scenes and the pumpkins give them just a touch of seasonal color-fun table:@)

Just perfect, Mary! All the wonderful autumn colors, so beautifully blended.
The plates settings are especially appropriate…love those wicker chargers!
I like the planter, full of abundance, in the background, too. You have such a lovely spot to play with your dishes!

Beautiful. I love all the textures. Fall especially has so many textures! I thought of you yesterday! I have a pair of tortoiseshell vases that I am puzzled how to use in decorating. I would love to see how you would use them in my home. My daughter-in-law gave them to me.

I learn so many things from you that I tuck away. I haven’t done a tablescape in so long. It is hard to do a large table and I keep my leaves in my dining table and kitchen because they are heavy to move.

I can’t think of a prettier setting or a more lovely table to celebrate the end of October and beginning of November…most thankful you shared this with us. Gorgeous.

Mary, this is a most spectacular table. I love the background black and whites topped off with the vibrant colors of the season. Your setting would make anyone love to sit and spend time, relishing in your company and the magnificent scenery. Great ideas abound on this table.. everything carried out perfectly! xo marlis

Just beautiful, Mary! Your fall tablescape has been the first one to make me think of the very first Thanksgiving. From the quilt to the indian corn, your table looks so authentic. Your harvest (centerpiece) is perfect and full of bounty. I can imagine the dishes and stemware packed away in a well-worn trunk, not sitting on the shelves at HomeGoods. And, your photography is always so amazing. Thank you for sharing!

What a lovely setting for a lunch or early dinner on one of our glorious autumn days! The autumn harvest china is so perfect for this tablescape, not to mention that centerpiece that you designed.

I ahve had company today so didn’t get a table set:( I have so many things planned, hope I get to them:):) I see you are still having beautiful weather to set a table outdoors! I love those goblets too. YOu must have bought every single quilt that Kohl’s has ever carried:) XO, Pinky

Mary, I’m in AWE ~ your posts are ALWAYS fabulous, and this one is no exception. Every shot is picture book/postcard/calendar worthy. Autumn colors aren’t my favorite ~ yet you’ve captured the very essence of this time of year by going in a whole other direction. I LOVE it ~ the stunning centerpiece, your quilt . . . everything down to the very last detail. You are so talented, what a pleasure to come see what surprises you’ll have for us every time you share. You get the Blue Ribbon again this week for TT, my friend! xoxo

Your Royal Stafford plates look so good with the quilt and your centerpiece is perfect. When I read your post title, I thought of the old hymn “Bringing in the Sheaves”. Thanks again for a great tablescape. Did you get the goblets at Hobby Lobby this year? They’re so pretty.

  19. November 3, 2011 at 11:49 pm

No one could make fall more elegant that you, Mary! I just love this. Your floral is exquisite. Your plates are so pretty and the natural elements just make it. I adore your goblets. They are perfect. Fall looks beautiful where you live.

I have always loved your style ! This table screams Fall !!! Gorgeous china and spectacular pumpkin basket arrangement ! Enjoy the season and stay happy !

  25. November 4, 2011 at 10:15 pm

    Hi Mary,

You’ve done a wonderful table once again :) This pumpkin centerpiece is just spectacular; it inspires me to try making one for my own table. Southern Living featured one in their October(?) issue this year. That was the first time I had seen that idea, but I don’t think theirs was any prettier than yours. I also love the quilt table covering for fall, and I ALWAYS love English transferware. These dishes have such nice names, too. Autumn Hayride and the Blacksmith — perfect. Thanks for sharing and have a great weekend!

Thanks for everyone’s kind comments! Babs, my goblets came from Hobby Lobby last year. Pattie, I have a tutorial for my centerpiece from my Thanksgiving table last year here.

  28. November 4, 2011 at 11:01 pm

Once again, Spectacular! You have displayed a true autumn bounty. Your pumpkin centerpiece is an amazing arrangement of beauty and texture. Just looking at your fabulous photos I can feel the crisp autumn air and the welcoming of the fall season. As Liz said, the quintessential fall table!

Your tablescapes & photos never fail to amaze me!!

  34. November 6, 2011 at 4:09 pm

Fabulous table!!! I love the Indian corn at each place setting! I think a quilt as a tablecloth makes such a cozy table. A friend of mine made a beautiful arrangement for me in a pumpkin. She used flowers that she had dried from her garden. You can see it here:

omega57 reblogged this on Bushel and a Pickle Blog and commented: THis table is so beautiful! The love gals and I think it is ashamed Thanksgiving is so often skipped and everyone dives right into Christmas. There were Christmas movies on last nihgt!! Well, at least there was something we could watch togehter besides football. This weekend we are havng 10 other folks over for a break and time ot focus on worship, prayer and the word. My prayer for this gatherng is to be refreshing and restful AND edifying as well as encouraging. I can’t wait! But there is lots to be done. Nothing like an event at your house to get things going! Cleaning and emptying 3 containers of wreaths, garland and other Thanksgiving festive decorations must be done first; well at least that is my aim.
