I set a table lakeside for Thanksgiving taking advantage of the last of the Fall color and warm temperatures. . .
I soaked some oasis & filled a pumpkin for a centerpiece again this week using roses, sunflowers, daisies, and Hypericum berries from the market along with leaves & clippings from our shrubs. A visit to the produce section for some artichokes, apples & salad savoy help fill the gaps and add some texture and interest.
A centerpiece like this will last several days before some materials (mainly the garden clippings & salad savoy) will have to be replaced. In fact this centerpiece looked better two days later when the roses had a chance to open up a bit~ just be sure to keep it in a cool place, out of direct sunlight to slow down the evaporation process and help it last longer.
I also lined the inside of the pumpkin with plastic bags to prevent any water from the oasis from seeping into the bottom of the pumpkin vase for a longer life.
I’ve gotten my money’s worth out of my little tiger striped pumpkins this season~ last week at the table and this week filled with plant material & flowers for individual vases for each of the four place settings.
It would be fun to take it one step further and add a place card tucked or picked in place for each guest~
These were quick & easy to make~ soaking the oasis for 30 minutes and filling with bits of rosemary, clippings from shrubs, daisies and a Sweetgum ball. I’m making an effort to celebrate the Sweetgum, rather than curse the abundance of these prolific & prickly little gumballs this Fall :)

Oh, Mary! You make me feel so welcome at your beautiful tables that I feel like I should be booking my flight! This is so beautiful. We’ve all been seeing sooooo many fall tables by now, but this takes it to a place we haven’t been. You have such a knack for adding fruit and vegetables to centerpieces. You reign as queen of the produce! I used these little striped pumpkins at a luncheon recently and I put a small mum plant in each one as a favor. My guests were able to plant them, as they were landscape mums and they were a most unusual shade. It was so fun to see them all lined up before the lunch, knowing that they were going home to gardeners and that they might be coming back for years in their gardens. m Thank you for your lovely posts. I never miss one of yours, as they are always so special.

This tablescape is stunning! You really are an artist with natural materials. All of the colors you’ve used in the centerpiece and the small pumpkins are just gorgeous. I especially like the roses mixed in with the other things. Your dishes take a back seat to your floral displays, but I did notice them because my sister-in-law has the same dishes.

Love the plaid throw. I have a bunch of red plaids for Christmas but none of these beautiful autumn plaids. I’m now going to be on the hunt. I wanted to do the same type of floral thing with pumpkins but after Halloween the pumpkins were gone….NOWHERE To be found. All the grocers and fruit stand people said that as of halloween they dispose of them immediately. Taught me a new lesson to be more on the ball. I love your deep flower filled orange variegated pumpkin and the flower filled baby pumpkins just are the cherry on top. Its all over the top fabulous.

I love everything about your table. The large centerpiece is spectacular and the tiger pumpkin arrangements are darling. Your close up shots show it off so well. The roses are ever so nice and I really like the apples and artichokes with all the berries, leaves, and sunflowers. The fall foliage all around the lake is glorious. Turkey plates are especially attractive and the plaid throw serves as a great background to delight the eye with everything on the table. I hope you have a WONDERFUL THANKSGIVING!

I can’t tell you how nuts I am about this table! I already stopped to pin it so that I don’t forget it. It’s beautiful. I love the individual settings with the little pumpkin arrangements. The next time I have a fall luncheon club lunch at my house, I am definitely going to do this. Just plain gorgeous!

Mary, your table is once again so gorgeous. I love the centerpiece and that you have explained how it was created. I am flower-arranging-challenged so I enjoy reading about the how-to’s. The centerpiece and the individual place setting pumpkins are just beautiful.
I love the layering of the dish stack, as well. The woven chargers are a nice touch to keep the look less formal. Those white chargers are great; they add a lot of interest to the stack.
