Chickadees on the Porch & a Giveaway!

I’m on the porch nesting with Chickadees . . .

Enjoying some tea and tucked in a nest of grey~enjoying a bit of warm & welcome sunshine on the porch.

These Chickadee plates, Global Design Connections by Kate Williams, along with teapot, cream & sugar~ took flight from HomeGoods to follow me home~

I was enamored by the grey twig-rimmed edge on the plates and twiggy detailed spout and handle on the teapot :)

To celebrate my two-year blogging anniversary January 15th, I’m sharing some dish & bird love and giving away this set of two salad plates, two dinner plates, teapot, cream & sugar~ to one winner~ to perch at your table.

For a chance to win these Chickadees :) mention in a comment  you would like them come home to roost with you! Subscribers/followers automatically get a second entry. For an additional chance to win, leave another comment and tell me your favorite bird you like to see perched at your feeder :)

These little chickadees are beautiful. I would love to have them come home and roost at my house. I have a few species of birds that come to my yard. I love watching them.

Very pretty post. I am a long time follower. Would love to have them roost at my home. I feed sunflower seeds and thistle for the birds, my favorites being red birds and doves.

The Chickadee set is adorable and would love to have them fly to my porch. Watching birds at the feeder during the winter months is a pleasant distraction. I would say cardinals are my favorites to watch. I am a blog follower. Have a good day.

Oh some of my favorite items!!! I think Chickadees are such a precious little bird. I also love anything “teapot”. So, you have combined the best of 2 worlds, a chicadee teapot and accessories!!! WoW, what a great giveaway! I sure wish I could be the winner!!! I’d love to sit with a good book and a cup of tea from that teapot and enjoy a balmy day on my porch.! You have such great giveaways and this is not exception! Happy New Year to you and your family!

  5. January 9, 2012 at 8:01 am

Oh Mary….how did you know I just finished a table runner & a wall hanging with chickadees on them??? AND I collect teapots, ya’ know! This would be PERFECT for just the two of us to enjoy a nibble & a cuppa hot tea by the fire.
Thank you so much for giving us the chance to win such a darling set!

    fondly,
    Rett

Back to say, I’m a follower, of course, & have been for a loooong time, although I’m amazed that you’ve only been blogging for 2 years!

Also, my very most favorite bird in all the world to see is Ohio’s state bird, the cardinal….the bright red male version, not the drab female one.
Second choice would have to be a robin, as they are the harbingers of SPRING!!!!!

    Hugs,
    me

Oh Mary, I can’t believe my eyes. I have the chickadee platter but that was the only piece I could find. I’ve had it since October, so my chances are very slim of ever finding the pieces you are offering. I would LOVE a chance to win, and I’d be happy seeing a pretty red cardinal at my feeder. It’s been so mild here that the cardinals haven’t been hanging out at the feeder much. Perhaps in February!

Forgot to say happy anniversary, and soooooo glad you started blogging!

  9. January 9, 2012 at 8:24 am

What an adorable giveaway! I would love the chickadees to come and roost with me on my deck, especially in this unseasonably warm weather! :D

I love the twigs on the rims, too. What a cute set!

  10. January 9, 2012 at 8:41 am

I would so like the chance to enjoy those chickadees here in Normandy but perhaps it’s too far for them to fly?
Although it’s unlikely that I would ever see it, a red cardinal would be the bird I would love to catch at my bird feeder one day.

  11. January 9, 2012 at 8:43 am

    Mary,
Congratulations on your anniversary! Your blog is so beautiful that it is hard to imagine that you’ve only been blogging two years. I have been enjoying our porch weather, and I’d love to have some chickadees join me! And I have been a follower and subscriber ever since I found you. I was delighted when I saw a bluebird feeding on the ground day before yesterday! Love my bluebirds!

  12. January 9, 2012 at 8:46 am

I enjoy seeing the two cardinal couples at our feeder. One of the males fusses at the females all of the time, and she ignores him. You can sense his frustration with her. They are so funny!

  13. January 9, 2012 at 8:49 am

Oh, how these would love to perch on my table! Hands down, the cardinal is my favorite bird to find on our feeder. One of our elderly friends, who has passed away told us to look for her and her husband to visit us as cardinals, so we’ll forever look for “Louise and Emmet” to bless us with their red finery. I love subscribing to your lovely, lovely blog!

  14. January 9, 2012 at 9:05 am

I love the chickadees Mary! Beautiful winter porch setting.

My favorite bird at the feeder is the Chickadee. They are so cute and ambitious. In the summer I like to mark it’s beginning by the arrival of the Red Breasted Gross Beak. They are gorgeous.

  17. January 9, 2012 at 9:21 am

You have such a breath taking way of displaying everything…These pictures just warm my heart. I would LOVE to win those dishes!! We don’t have a Home Goods around us.

  18. January 9, 2012 at 9:22 am

Probaby very expected but I still get excited to see a gorgeous cardinal at the feeder..male or female. They are both beautiful.

The chickadees are a fun bird to watch too! :) Thanks for brightening my days with your gorgeous posts.

My favorite birds to see at our bird feeder are the blue birds. I also love the cardinals with their beautiful red feathers. But what is cuter than a chickadee?

  23. January 9, 2012 at 9:42 am

    Hi Mary,

This teapot is ADORABLE! I love the bark spout and handle, but the lid is definitely the cutest. Love the chickadee on the twig and the nandina berries. I would love to have these dishes come home to roost with me! Thanks for offering this giveaway.

    I love your style!

  32. January 9, 2012 at 11:39 am

Mary, as with all you share, this is exquisite. I think I can hear the little chickadees singing their “chicka-dee-dee-dee”. Not only do you always find the perfect item, you are a master at staging beautiful things. I’m sitting here with thoughts of just such a gorgeous tablescape and the set of dishes sent to me because of your generosity. Though I’ve yet to get photos to share, rest assured that the the golden glow of those dishes and the warm soft browns of the throw are well loved and have offered their grace and beauty to our table since arriving. Some lucky reader is going to be singing their own song of joy.
I sing a song of joy for the incredible beauty that comes to all of us through Home is Where the boat Is. Your blog anniversary is reason for many to celebrate and wish you well, and as I’ve already been a lucky recipient, please give my chance to another. I eagerly anticipate continued pleasures of virtual dining at the lake with you, Chloe, and Gracie. ~ Hugs, Sarah

My favorite birds are the yellow finches that feed at my “sock” outside my office window. Such a pop of sunshine!

  35. January 9, 2012 at 12:11 pm

Hi, Mary. Imagine…chickadees being my favorite birdie! AND did you see my post (http://chickadeehomenest.blogspot.com/2011/12/chickadee-christmas-table.html) with the dishes that go with this beautiful set you’re giving away? I bet they’d love to fly right on over to be with the rest of their family in our home! :) Congratulations on your two years–wow, how you’ve inspired us all with your beautiful photography and ‘scapes. As they say in the retail and fashion world, “you have an eye” for sure… Count me in your followers who would love to give this set a home! ~Zuni

  36. January 9, 2012 at 12:36 pm

Hi Mary, very kind of you to kick off the New Year with a beautiful giveaway like this. I most definitely would like these birdies to come home and roost, there is room in my little flock! :) I do have an affinity for cardinals, but my thoughts these days are on robins, a sure sign of spring. (I do have a bit of a wait, I know.) xo

  37. January 9, 2012 at 2:08 pm

I think this is one of the prettiest teapot and plate sets I’ve seen. Love the birds. I would love for this to come roost at my home. My favorite birds are the cardinals that feed but I must admit I enjoy watching the chickadees in the bird bath, they crack me up! I’m a follower and love your blog. Hugs, Linda

    Let’s see…

    I collect tea pots….check
I love to see the little yellow finches perch on our papaya trees…check
    I’ve been a reader/subscriber of your blog since I found you…check
I would love to have these chickadees come and perch along our finches…check

However…the distance they would have to fly over land and sea to reach me is more than a little chickadee can manage…

    Although I love to live where I do…sometimes it is a disadvantage… ;-)

Lovely post, Mary! Congratulations on your two year blogging anniversary!

Congrats on your two-year anniversary! I have been a follower of yours for awhile, now, and love your outdoor settings. It would be a priviledge to have your chickadees come and roost at Maplenut Cottage. My two favorite birds are out at the feeder – cardinals, with the doves eating on the ground.

  40. January 9, 2012 at 3:10 pm

Congratulations on 2 years! It’s comforting to know that we can always drop in with you and be beautifully entertained. Your eye for gorgeous never falters. These dishes are amazing and your display is breathtaking. How wonderful it would be to use these on our back patio in the spring, summer and fall! I don’t think I’ve had one chickadee in our backyard, but maybe these would draw them in? A most gracious gift to us. Thank you for the chance! So glad I follow.. Have a blessed day, week and year! xo marlis

  41. January 9, 2012 at 3:15 pm

What birds would i love to share this set of dishes with? Well the chickadee or a finch.. but best of all would be you, Mary.. thanks again for the chance.. xo marlis

My favorite bird is the wren. I just love to see them hop around on my deck, looking for some seed. I love how their little tail sticks up. I think their long bill and their white stripe on the eye is so attractive. Yes, I love everything about the wren!

  48. January 9, 2012 at 7:00 pm

Those chikadees are so beautiful on that set. I would also love for them to take roost in my neck of the woods. They would enjoy it here quite a bit as we have so many birds all around, including our resident Carolina house wrens that live on the gutter drain pipes year round. Hard to say which is my most favorite to see, maybe the occasional glimpse of a very busy hummingbird wizzing by or the very rare sightings of a few unknown yellow birds. But the bird I would really love to see (because I’ve never seen one) would be the one that makes the most beautiful bird sound I have ever heard and adore in the morning and evenings, the whippoorwill. Now that would be a treat! Beautiful pictures and such a cozy setting too!

Cardinals are always beautiful but hummers are so funny and fast. Now that I am letting my grey hair fly, grey is fast becoming a new favorite color for me so I really like your vignette.

Hi Mary, I just love this set, I so wish I had Home Goods here, *sigh*. Anyway congrats on your anniversary! This set is SO awesome, the red and grey is so beautiful. Wish I had more birds here, but the weather is just too harsh, some really pretty ones in the spring on their way through, but nothing so beautiful as the chickadees!

I would love this charming set to ‘roost’ on my winter table here in NY. I would like the hummingbird to stop by at my feeder but not here in the winter. I have been fortunate to see two hummingbirds in my summer garden. They are a site to behold, However, in the winter, I do like the cardinal and the chickadee..what is there not to love?

  60. Marlene

By the way I meant to say chickadees…oops!…Anyways, my favorite birds to watch are Cardinals and Blue Jays, I feel very fortunate because they visit my yard every spring.

  62. January 10, 2012 at 10:52 am

Such a lovely post. The little chickadees are so sweet. Like you, I love birds and welcome them in my yard. I live in southern California so right now we still have a lot of beautiful hummingbirds. I grew up on the east coast and I really do miss the regal red cardinal during the winter…how exquisite at the bird feeder topped with snow! And, what is is about a teapot that is so charming…it’s almost as if they are magical.
I didn’t have a chance to leave a comment but your previous post with the tables in review was wonderful. Each and every presentation was gorgeous.
    Have a great day.
PS. Your porch bench is fabulous.

I need chickadees to roost on my patio. How lovely and sweet! I’m trying to convince my husband we need a lakeview home. I can’t imagine having water and mother nature at my backdoor. Love your tablescapes!

  64. January 10, 2012 at 3:28 pm

I happened on your blog today and seen the words chickadees and porch in the same sentence. That’s like a magnet to my soul. I live in Northern Ontario Canada where the temp was snowy -20 this morning. I home has a wrap around porch which I set up as a cozy sitting area in the summer, where we sit, relax and have our tea (certainly not from such a beautiful tea set as yours). As for “chickadee”, I’ve always said, if I have a second like, I would like to come back as a chickadee, becaaauuse…. they are so cute, alway seem happy, eat all day and are so full of energy. Doesn’t that sound like quite the life!

  65. January 10, 2012 at 3:43 pm

Now I know why some people posted 2 comments. I wasn’t done accidently press enter and poof, it’s gone. Wanted to make certain to compliment you on your site. It’s gorgeous!!! Your comments, your photos, your inspiration and much, much more….. thank you and keep up the good work. Would also like to wish you and yours the very best “2012”, filled with health, happiness, prosperity and plenty of wonderful adventures. From your newest follower from Ontario

  66. January 10, 2012 at 6:26 pm

Happy Anniversary to your blog, Mary! I absolutely adore your giveaway and would love for it to come home to roost here. I love watching the chickadees feed outside my home office window and they keep me smiling all winter long.

My favorite bird to watch at my feeder are cardinals. Mr. and Mrs. come together :)

    January 10, 2012 at 6:49 pm

Two of my now grown grandsons were staying with me one summer and loved eating lunch on the patio. They loved to watch the birds eat from our feeders as we ate. I decided to get a book with pictures to identify all the birds. They learned from the book and observing to really enjoy birdwatching. One day the 4 yr old turned to me and said, “Gosh Mammaw, your yard is just like a bird airpot.” One of our favorites were the small fat black and white chickadees. Would just love to have this set come roost in my home.

  69. January 10, 2012 at 7:18 pm

I was really blue after Christmas and then the sun came out and gave us some wonderful “outside weather” here in Kentucky! Your adironack bench with the throw inspired me to go out and sit by the pool (we leave it open all winter.) I took in the birds and squirrels and wished I had taken my coffee out with a throw. I would love the have this little set of Chickadees come roost in our home, especially because there is only two of us now. We are empty nesters! :) Chickadees/nests? Get it?
    Surely enjoy your site!

I love to see a beautiful Cardinal at our feeders. They are always a bright contrast on a dreary snowy winter day. We have an unusual visitor at our feeder in the spring, a red winged blackbird. He’s so vocal when the feeder is running low! Love to hear him complain…he sings beautifully!

Sure thing that I am a subscriber (even though some posts are blank — that’s so strange!). In that case I also have your blog bookmarked and regularly visit it anyway. :)

Well, which birds do I like to see in the garden? Frankly, each and every one. I tried to limit them to a favorite kind of bird, but I enjoy watching all of them — even the smart ravens on our neighbors’ roof.

  80. January 11, 2012 at 4:11 pm

Beautiful tea set! I love the chickadees. That’s what is usually sitting at my feeders, but I welcome all birds. I love watching them through my kitchen window. And so do my indoor kitties! :) I would love the chance to win. Thank you for the chance.

Oh, my goodness, I actually gasped when I saw the teapot with the chickadees. I am a bit on the obsessed side of watching birds this winter. We have chickadees, goldfinch couples, cardinal couples, and many others who play keep-away from the squirrels and chipmunks.

I saw a few of these plates at Home Goods, but did not see the teapot. So cute and just perfect o your porch. I love chickadees at my feeder, but my most exciting bird was a Pileated Woodpecker pecking at my kitchen window! Dianne

I KNEW Zuni from Chickadee Home Nest would love this post!!! I remembered that she has the same dishes, plus the fact that her claim to fame is the chickadee. That is so cool! The dishes are beautiful, Mary! Great giveaway to celebrate your anniversary! I would love to have them “nesting” in my cabinet, but if I win I will probably give them to Zuni. She’s a sweetheart, and I just know how much she’d love them. What??!?!?! Is that me being nice??!?!?! Uh oh…something must be wrong with me!!! :-) Have a great week, and congratulations on your 2-year anniversary!

  91. January 11, 2012 at 10:55 pm

Oh….and I don’t have a bird feeder. They are against the HOA rules in my subdivision. Weird, huh? A lot of people are working to get that one changed. I love to see cardinals, though, when they perch in the trees. And the beauty of the first robin of the season is always nice, too!

My sister bought me “squirrel-proof” feeder and my husband hung it outside my office window (I work at home) so I get to see all of my birds all day. I love the chickadees, but love it when the cardinals stop by!!

  97. January 11, 2012 at 11:47 pm

Oh wow, what an adorable set! I love birds and I was born in Maine(chickadee is the state bird!) so I’d LOVE to have them come live here with me!

  103. January 12, 2012 at 8:52 am

Congratulations on keeping your beautiful blog going! I am always so happy to see your post in my inbox. I am now looking out the window at our first winter snow—just a touch mixed with sleet–and the chickadees are feeding furiously at my bird feeder outside the kitchen window. They are just the cutest little things. And although we lost several of their favorite trees to the august hurricane and the october blizzard (our fall snow!) we will be planting more this spring. But I promise that if I win your beautiful dishes I will give those chickadees a nice place to roost in my kitchen! Linda

  104. January 12, 2012 at 9:31 am

As I write the birds are happily feeding at the two new bird feeders that hubby gave me for Christmas. I was salivating over those chickadee plates when you mentioned they might be able to come and roost at my house. Wouldn’t that just be fun! Please enter me in your giveaway. Thank you. I would love to own these chickadee plates. They are so sweet and such a find. So kind of you to give them away.

  109. January 12, 2012 at 5:33 pm

My favorite bird at my feeder or at anytime is the chickadee. When I used to live in Maryland, I had one little chickadee that would come eat walnuts out of my hand. It was such a joy to have him sit in my hand and to this day, I still remember the feel of his little feet in my palm ~ a very treasured memory.

Several different birds fly in to sample the delights in my garden. My favorites are the red-headed woodpecker and humming birds. The woodpecker is not particular liked by the other birds, but he is beautiful. In the Spring I delight watching the humming birds flit among my antique roses.

I so envy your access to Home Goods – we don’t have them out here on the left coast! I was in MA in the fall and brought home one piece of that beautiful chickadee china, and wish I could’ve filled my whole suitcase! Here in WA, I love to watch the hummingbirds that stay all year ’round, but my favorite these days is the Flickers that hang from the suet cage, balancing by curling their long, pretty tails under the cage and hanging on for dear life!

  114. January 12, 2012 at 8:43 pm

OMG! This is the most beautiful thing I have seen in a long time. I would love this set to come home with me to my front porch that, even now, is alive with little chickadees. I would love to toast their loveliness with their likeness.

I am an old, in two ways, follower. As mentioned earlier Chickadees are a beautiful sight at my feeders. I live in a bird sanctuary so I love seeing them all. I especially love the Bluebird pairs, with the male protecting his mate while she takes a dip in the birdbath. Oh, I would love to serve up tea with this generous gift. Thank you and congrats on the two year mark.

Love love love the tablescape. I want to cuddle up with a good book and cup of Earl Grey right there. That said, PICK ME! Those little Chickadees would be right at home here in my Oregon home. We have one of those little berry trees (that’s the scientific name) and the chickadees love it!

I am so excited to have found you through French Country Cottage!! The Chickadees tea set is lovely. How I would love to have this set in my home!! While I was at Hobby Lobby in December shopping for Christmas decorations, the spring collection was already out. Two Blue Jays caught my eye!! Perfect for my spring decorating. I have such a love for a bird’s beauty and grace. I sit on my back porch a LOT. While we don’t have many trees, which is another subject, I do get to see many birds. Their communication between each other is hilarious and mystifying at the same time. Naming a favorite bird at my feeder is difficult. I would love to see a Painted Bunting at my feeder. Thank you for the lovely pictures.

Favorite birds at my feeder are fearless chickadees and the loud singing Carolina wrens. Chickadees are the first to return to a feeder after something scares all birds away; they let birds know it is afe to return to feeder.
Please enter me into your great china giveaway. Thanks

  153. January 16, 2012 at 11:46 pm

My husband put our bird feeders right outside the kitchen window and my daughter keeps them filled! I love to watch them all, but lately the antics of two crazy blue jays have given me lots of good laughs. They seem bent on tormenting the fat grey squirrels that feast on the leavings on the ground under the feeders! It’s quite a show!

I always say there are no accidents…..I am new to blogging and came across your blog while looking for Chickadee Dishes…these beautiful little birds hold a special place in my heart… A few years ago while taking care of my dear Aunt who had cancer. I started calling her my little chickadee, it always brought a warm smile to her face at such a difficult time. She fought hard and was a trooper though her journey and was called home to the loving arms of our Lord. When I came home my husband and I decided to set up feeding stations for the wild birds we had coming into our property. We enjoyed watching the Cardinals, Titmouse and Finches coming to feed, then one day while I was photographing these beautiful birds….a beautiful little chickadee came to feed! It was my sign from above and my Tia saying Hello and she was ok. My heart sang….these beautiul little guys frequent my feeders still and I always say hello to my little chickadee…. I would love for this teapot set to come and roost at my home, I would have a cup of tea and honor my Tia….my little chickadee.
Your photos are lovely and I enjoyed reading your blog very much. I love all of the birds but so enjoy Chickadees, Cardinals and Hummingbirds.
Thank you for letting me share my thoughts.
    Blessings,
    Ali

I have a spot cleared for these chickadees to roost – I’ve set out a little feed to lure them my way….

  174. January 20, 2012 at 10:12 am

I have to say that Cardinals would be my favorite in the wintertime. I live in Michigan and and stark grey days are surely brightened by a spot of red. Two days ago I was at the gym looking out from the 3rd story and there, in the middle of downtown Detroit with nothing but light grey buildings and leafless trees, perched a Cardinal. If it had been any other bird I might never have noticed him. I longed for my camera…

I just found your blog today from a different post and signed up to follow (through Word Press, couldn’t find google friends) because of your great write-up about about I book I have read, Winter World. It was nice to see it featured. Then I came across your post about the chickadees and I actually neglected to read about the giveaway. What I did was get in my car and go tearing off to the local Home Goods to try to buy a set, but they didn’t have any in stock. Then I came home and looked online, to no avail. I returned to your page to drool some more and discovered your giveaway. I would be happy to buy a set, let alone win one. Either way, thanks for brightening my day!

I love chickadees but being a So. Florida girl have never actually seen one. So instead I paint them on things because of their cuteness & chubbiness. Mine rendering always feel a little ” off”… Not as beautifully round and even as the ones on these dishes that I would love to have living here at my waterfront Semi-tropical home!

My favorite bird comes twice a year on it’s way south and again back north. It is insanely yellow/orange with black wings & tail. Perhaps a Warbler. It is never alone, there are always a pair…his & hers. They “vacation” a few weeks each year to munch on the purple fruit of our Beauty Berry Bush.

Those lovely dishes can come home and roost on my table. Then we will have birds inside and out. With the recent snowfall the birds are mobbing the feeders!

Just found your site from Between Naps on the Porch…love it! You have the most beautiful photographs, and your site gives me the warm & fuzzies! I live in Central Oregon, and we have Chickadees galore – they especially love the sunflowers I grow in the late summer. Of course, that teapot needs to come to my house so I can have Chickadees indoors and out!

I can’t really say I have a favorite bird I love seeing at my feeders. My eyes are always drawn to the colorful finches, but I also enjoy the acrobatics of the Flickers trying to get the last morsel of the suet block. Guess, if I had to choose, it would be hummingbirds…they are colorful, bright and also very acrobatic!

I am very fortunate to be a follower of your most beautiful blog. As I stated before, if there was a Hall of Fame of blogs, yours would definitely be in it! Your photography and subjects are so beautiful and serene.

I love seeing cardinals coming to the bird feeder. They are so beautiful, both male and female. My son and daughter in law chose a pair of cardinals for the topper of their wedding cake as they mate for life. So they have a very special meaning for me. Thank you for offering the giveaway and congratulations on your anniversary. I look forward to many more years of enjoying your blog.

These are so cheery on a bleak winter day! My favorite bird to perch on a feeder is the hummingbird. We have one we at our lake house we call Chaser because he doesn’t let any others near the feeder. He doesn’t ever eat himself, because he is always so busy chasing others away!

Woud love for those precious things to roost temporarily in my nest — and then they would go to my niece. You see, my dear parents (this niece’s late grandparents) gave her the nickname, Chickadee. Wouldn’t it be lovely for her to have these little chickadees to remind her of them?

I would love to have these here in Florida! Thanks! ♥

Hi – I am new to your blog and love it! These are so adorable – I live in South Florida and have never seen a Chickadee here. I grew up in Virginia and my Mother’s feeders always had many Chickadees – I think they are so cute and their little sounds. I really miss seeing Robins coming to mark the beginning of Spring. We have just recenlty been seeing many more Blue Jays and a few Cardinals which I just love because they remind me so much of VA!! : )

Two years and every one of your posts is exceptional. Every time I set a table I think of you and wonder WWMD. One of these days I might even get there with that extra little touch that makes it special.

I’m in the dog house for breaking my wifes large chickadee plate and neither of us can find a replacement. I feel so bad!! would really love to have this set come to a table at our house so i could put the plate back on the stand that I knocked it off of. She loved that plate more than anything.

I would like to win this set of dishes for my 76 year old mother. Bless her heart, she just lost her husband of 52 years and we are having to move her closer to us so we can take care of her. She has been real nervous about moving, but the other day we were in a store and she saw these dishes and she fell in love with them, but she didnt want to spend the money to buy them because she didnt know what kind of expenses she would have with moving and it would be something she wanted, not needed, so she did not purchase them and I did not have the money to get them for her. She just keeps talking about them, saying how pretty they would look in her new dining room and then we called the store that had them and they are all sold out. This was one thing that made her excited about moving. I so wish I could surprise her with these dishes, so that she would be excited about moving to her new house again. She needs a little positivity in which otherwise has been a very trying year for her.

I fell upon your site while trying to search for dishes with a chickadee pattern; oh how precious your photos and words are! About 15 years ago I fell in the love with hummingbirds and then grew to love chickadees because my Dad was so devoted to “little birds,” feeding and watching them. Even in his later years when he was ill, he would watch them from his bedroom window, with cup of tea in hand. While the red cardinal is also a favourite, I keep returning to the chickadee and love how hearty they are, going about their busy days in such a cheerful way! Tha’s how my Dad was; always busy with one of his carpentry projects and always cheerful; he used to tell me “you’ve got to have fun along the way or it’s not worth it!” Thank you for your blog – I look forward to reviewing more and enjoying your photos and postings.
