Having lived on a lake in Florida, I truly miss the various species of birds that were always “in my backyard”..How wonderful are they…
The year has passed quickly. It seems nature is all a flutter with birds returning. Great pics. I had not realized your lake is so near the ocean to attract sea gulls. Just never thought about it.
Are they heading North??? Does this mean they know Spring is around the corner? I sure hope so!
When I was recently in Rockport, I couldn’t get over the number of gulls floating on ice floes in the harbor. I think the difference is that in the summer they are much busier as compared with the winter months when they seem to huddle more. I like to do that with friends, too!

The gulls certainly have their own special way of establishing ownership of a territory! Reading the small print on the contract is not an option! And like you, I love watching the antics of these characters! Great photos!
Around here, seagulls mean a shopping center and garbage!!! They are all over the palce. But I love to see them at the beach! XO, Pinky

Great shots. They’ve really taken over haven’t they. Any group of birds always reminds me of the movie “The Birds.” :-)
That is a lot of seagulls, Mary! I see them often in my area as they never seem to leave. They like to look for clams and mussels when the marsh tides go out.

We have a lot of seagulls in Utah. I know, I know, we don’t have a sea, so why the seagulls? They love the great Salt Lake. When I first moved here from FL, it was really weird seeing them flying around. It was actually a little disorienting to wake up hearing them and not be in Florida!

Wow! They are back! And I thought I was lucky to see a bald eagle this week!
What lovely shots! There are so many visiting!
We see seagulls at our inland lake too, nothing like you’d see at the ocean though. They create problems roosting on flat roofs and predator birds are brought in to chase them away.
I know that some call them a nuisance, but they are such elegant creatures of God. Thanks for being a part of Seasonal Sundays.

Reminds me of the story I saw on the news this evening about the town in Alabama (I think) where they had an invasion of some kind of birds….starlings, perhaps…anyway, people had to get out their umbrellas and not because it was raining…heehee. Nice photos!

Flocks of seagulls fly through the stands after SF Giant games. It’s as if they know when the action is over, and they come to eat the leftover hot dogs and fries.
It’s a pretty marvelous sight to seem them swoop through.

I can watch them for hours!!! They are interesting…but they can also leave quite a mess behind!!! Our dock is sometimes covered!!!

These are such fun pictures. :) You did a great job of catching some of these gulls in mid-flight. The instructor in our photography class last fall told us that takes a bit of practice to do without the wings being just a total blur. I’m always impressed with your photography.
I love birds, too, seagulls included. When we take the Oak Island Ferry in the summer the gulls always follow us the whole way; they know they’ll be getting bread crumbs. ;-)
