The calendar says February, but a few sunny & mild days with temperatures in the 60’s has me Thinking Spring~
Anticipating Spring’s arrival~ I’m enjoying some tabletop gardening~ with the warm weather having whet my appetite for. . .
Spring Bulbs. . .
Blooms. . .
Butterflies. . .
Birds. . .
And Bees~
In addition to the warm weather, I found some tabletop inspiration with new napkins from Kohl’s~
~along with some Lenton Roses my mother-in-law shared from her flower bed to fill some jars for the table.
My matelassé coverlet is top-dressed with a jute runner from Pottery Barn (last year) for texture & warmth~
While a pair of zinc trays have been transplanted with bird seed, a found nest & a small watering can~
Vintage gardening trowels, a pair of salvaged corbels, and a wire cloche are perennial favorites, making a return appearance at the table~
And this bird topped server took flight from HomeGoods to migrate home with me last year and has nested at the table previously here~ serving up fruit & flowers.
I found this idea for an appetizer, ideal for a Spring Garden Party, in a back issue of Southern Living Magazine~
A bird’s nest constructed from basil pesto and a blend of goat & cream cheese~ wrapped in thyme sprigs~
Flour tortillas + the magic of cookie cutters + the oven = bird shaped crackers :)
I added some chopped pecans to my reserved cheese for the bird’s eggs to give the spread a little texture~

I’m thinking we must have been related in another life, Mary! I have very similar stemmed goblets, the same Napoleon bee flatware AND what I think are the same wicker plates, too! Only I’d never be able to combine them all so beautifully!
Your entire setting is just so creative & fresh. It has SPRING written all over it.
My *Smock & Talk* group is coming today to sew & I’ve got the pretty chickadee teapot & sugar/creamer set out on my newly finished quilted birdy tabletopper. I’m using one of the big plates to hold lemon meringue tarts, all in a wicker basket with my wicker patterned mugs & dessert plates. They work well today. Took lots of pictures to share with you real soon.

I also discovered since I started tablescaping, that I love anything with birds. I think the wire cloche is my favorite item, and nothing is sweeter than a handful of flowers in a mason jar. Definitely like spring time here. I worked in the garden on Sunday. All my roses were blooming, but had to prune them back to 2 feet. It was hard to do, but should have been done two weeks ago.

Oh Mary, this is the most wonderful post ( as they always are!) This is like torture as we just got dumped on for the first time – skiers are loving it, but it probably means we are going to get dumped on all Spring and miss it. You make me want to be out in the garden and enjoying the sunshine. Every little detail is amazing. How long does it take you to put together a table like this? I just get lost in the details – lovely!

I love how you weave all the different textures into a beautiful table presentation. Everything speaks spring. I can almost hear the birds chirping and the flowers growing. I think what I like the best is that it seems to represent early spring when everything is in transition and the earth seems to be waking up after a winter’s nap.

Hi Mary, As always your table is beautiful! The roses add just the perfect touch of color to go with those napkins! Kohl’s is here but out of my usual tracks, but I must make an effort to get there. I really like those napkins! And the use of the coverlet is so clever. I think I will pull out an old burgundy one I have from another decade and use it outside this Spring. You always inspire me!
