Galvanized to Garden

I’m galvanized to garden with the arrival of Spring~

My assortment of watering cans along with a zinc seed tray are at the table to kick off the growing season~

I’m having a little fun in the garden and at the table with flatware herb markers I found recently ~

You can find a tutorial here on how to make your own stamped markers with thrifted flatware~

My watering cans are sprinkling Dusty Miller, Rosemary and Purple Leaf Plum~

Bulbs are sprouting~

Herbs are waiting to be planted~

Seeds are ready to be sown~

And my plate is full!  :)

Old seed catalogs and almanacs are at the table for reference and nostalgia~

With handy planting guidelines and germination times for seeds~

Hoping Spring brings you Blooms & Bliss!

Very nice Mary, I love the stamped flatware! I saw a cheese knife once that said “stinky”… love that! Have a great day. (At first I typed Happy Monday, that just isn’t right…:@)

The watering cans are beautiful, Mary. I love the stamped flatware.
    Great mosaics!

I love galvanized watering cans and use the two I have all the time. So cute to stick the blooms out of the spouts. I also have two flower buckets but wish they were the same size!

Darling stamped silverware. You have a great creative mind. I would love to read the old catalogs and almanacs. I am sure I would learn so much. My grandmother read almanacs regularly.

I am so in love with the engraved flatware and the antique seed and agricultural catalogs are amazing. I have always lusted after all of our galvanized treasures…another beautiful post Mary!

Wow, fabulous post! Love the “flowering” cans. You have the most creative imagination! What will you think of next!

Mary, your title is so clever. The galvanized watering cans make me smile with their spouts filled with blooms. I need to be digging in the dirt today, but so far haven’t moved in that direction. The clover has taken over my bed of pansies and violas. With our recent 3″ rain, things are growing!
Beautiful, fun table. You always delight. ~ Sarah

another adorable post, we so think alike… i went looking for thrift store silverware 6 months ago, from here to the beach, and not a single store had any… i just forgot about it, but now you have me yearning for it again. too bad i can’t join in and happily stamp away with you, scott even has several sets… as always i see so much of you in me! i adore all the shots, from flowers to garden must haves, charming charming charming~

i love how your energy never wanes, week after week you always put a deep seated smile on my face, you appreciate all the same things i do, and do it masterfully~

Hi Mary, everytime I visit I am blown away. You are truly the artist, you have the entire thing going on, from the gorgeous photography to the lovely settings. The stamped flatware is so adorable, and I love the image SO MUCH of the two watering cans. Ahh, just beautiful!!

Beautiful Mary! I am just enamoured by your seed tray. I am looking out for one! I just got 6 spoon markers on a recent antiquing trip… and I have a marking set, but I am not a fan of hammering so I keep putting it off! You set such a fairytale mood with you photos!

I love galvanized watering cans. There is something so utilitarian about them, but also something very reassuring about them. You know they’ll last forever.

    Love the silverware markers, too.

I’ve been wanting a set of letter stamps for another purpose but now I have to buy them to make some garden markers like this. Thanks so much for the link to the tutorial!

I love the old garden catalog! Olds’ Seeds is a Wisconsin business :)

Mary, can you share with me how you did your eggs? I love the COLORS and love the speckles! I know I could die them and then “splatter” them with a brush. Is that what you did????

    • March 28, 2012 at 9:42 pm

      Pinky~ They’re plastic from Target :)

Beautiful table settings. I too love the little eggs. They are wonderful as well as the old garden catalogs. I know we must have some of those here at our farmhouse…and old sheep and chicken hatchery catalogs. Cute idea I may need to borrow. Your place just looks lovely. Always enjoy coming by and seeing your posts. They are wonderful.
    Wonderful blog = Wonderful people!

Mary, I haven’t been tablescape hopping in a long time. This is the first one I opened. Ahhhhh, bliss. I have some of that stamped silver, never trying it myself but will now. I collect old pieces so have some that I will try. Anything galvanized seems to find its way into my cart, except the tiered stand at PB that I am still drooling over after all the these years. Your old seed catalogs just fill my heart. There are photos in here that if I showed to my friends, they would be convinced I had taken them at my home. I love the sprouting bulbs, the watering cans with sprouts. As always, you inspire. I hope you are well. I will be coming back more often, I hope.

What a creative post! I love it! I also use galvanized watering cans and a coal bucket for weeds. Great job with the stamped silver. Loved seeing the old catalog and seed packets. Very nice table too……You did such a beautiful job!

Hi, Mary! WOW!!!!!!! Love the stamped flatware! I visited the other post on how to create it, though, and I’m afraid I’m out…unless I can find a super macho man to patiently create all the pieces I want! These old torn rotator cuffs in both shoulders just won’t let me do much of anything anymore without serious repurcussions. Drat and dagnab it!!! This is a beautiful and inspiring post. I ALMOST want to go outside and plant some flowers! That’ll have to wait until Mr. Macho gets home later! :-) Have a beautiful weekend!

As usual, your blog is one of the first I go to, week after week. This is an exceptional “tablescape” and so unique. Love the silverware – do you have any idea what the one fork with wide first tine is for when dining? Thanks and again and per usual – this is a great post!

  29. March 29, 2012 at 10:14 pm

What an effective use of galvanized articles! If I tried to do that, it would simply look like junk! And I love that quilt.

I love your spring decor with those blooming flowers ! Thanks for sharing.
Hope to see you on my blog:)

Hi Mary, This craft looks like so much fun! I think I could get carried away with it, stamping labels for everything in my house. Your watering cans are wonderful! Linda
