We’re Lunching with Bunnies~
not quite ready to see them hop away so quickly after Easter.
Generously on loan and chosen 61 years ago, my Mother-in-Law’s Syracuse Portland dishes are at the table,
offering up their floral bouquets in greeting of the arrival of Spring, and just in time for the azaleas to bloom!
After scouring away layers of pollen, we are fortified with ZYRTEC® and dining outdoors again!
The table is draped in a floral quilt~ my table covering of choice. . . easy for a quick change on guest beds or the table and best of all~ no ironing required :)
Pansy Bunny pieces from HomeGoods~ a pitcher, creamer, and small bowl are holding flowers. . .
. . .with violas & pansies floating in water.
Sprigs of Viburnum are tucked under a Bordallo Pinheiro pedestal, along with a few grocery store mums sprinkled in for color~
Bunnies are nibbling on a salad of mixed baby romaine & spinach~sprinkled with strawberries, blueberries, blue cheese crumbles, pecans and violas for garnish~ edible, only if organic.
Along with Chilled Carrot Soup~ a recipe from Southern Living, and garnished with violas, some flowering thyme, parsley, and with a swirl of sour cream.
I substituted fat-free evaporated milk for the half-and-half called for in the recipe, since the bunnies have had more than their share of chocolate eggs and jelly beans this Easter :)

I just adore how your MIL’s china looks on that quilt! It’s wonderful to be celebrating being able to eat outdoors again. I have some bunnies that I leave out all year because…I just love bunnies!

Mary…this is my very favorite setting…on your lawn.. by the lake…the table covered in a quilt…this truly defines ” tranquil”…Gorgeous, gorgeous china…and you display it so well with the beautiful accessories and flowers..not to mention the food…you ALWAYS make the food look like a great piece of art…your tablescapes are always a true work of art…

There is a new Home Goods about to open about a mile from my house, which thrills me no end! I’m hoping to find some pieces of the Pansy Bunny set.

Mary, so happy to see the bunnies are still around lakeside. They are so delightful and perfect with the beautiful dishes on loan from your MIL. Love the quilt! We had to scrub the green away before dining on the terrace. Fortunately the “green rain” stage is now past for this season. Such a mess!!!! Enjoying beautiful weather here, and spending our time outside while we can. LOL The summer heat will be upon us before we know it.

Love the quilt! Looks as though the needlework was done to match your MIL’s china. After just removing 2 ( a linen & a cotton batten berg) tablecloths from the clothesline for ironing I am seriously considering redressing the dining table with a quilt! I spritz my table coverings w/scotch guard before setting them to fend of stains. Suzi

Sweet! That china is so delicate and pretty, yet looks wonderful with the casualness of the quilt! Your bunnies are so pretty, and what is there not to like about this lunch! I just decided that this is my favorite table of yours yet. I love the way your MIL’s beautiful china looks against the quilt. I just have to try to use a quilt some time. The rest of the table is just one piece of WOW after another.
I also want to try the violas for edible garnish. Wonder if I’ll have to try to grow my own to find organic ones.

another perfect moment in time… i adore all your touches, the soup salad and dessert are fairy tale pretty. i would have to say easter must be one of your favorite holidays, you have gone all out for the month with one stunning table after another… so refreshingly beautiful i am feeling like such a slouch that i do so little in the world of pretty!

Your quilt looks like it was made to go with your MIL’s beautiful dishes!!!! It is perfect. I LOOOVE the bunny pieces and the floating flowers. Like Yvonne said, you are the QUEEN of tablescaping. Everything looks so exquisite, Mary! I have a weakness for pretty bunnies such as these and your MIL’s dishes are gorgeous! They match so well well with the wonderful salad sweet pansy cookies. The carrot soup sounds divine. I love everything! I hope you and your family had a lovely Easter.
