I’ve long been an admirer of your vibrant hues.
I must confess I have spent
more time with your cousins,
Annabelle and Oakleaf.
While I enjoy their company,
I have heard the unkind words
and criticisms said behind your back.
That your color
is too vivid. . .
Too artificial. . .
Too BLUE. . .
. . .and that you would not
fit in or
mingle comfortably. . .
. . .with the rest of the
colors in my garden.
My advice to you is to ignore
their petty jealousies
and snide remarks.
For while their whites are soothing and beautiful,
each one of your mophead blooms
is a brilliantly colored bouquet!
You define the South
like Sweet Tea.
You can do what they cannot. . .
. . .with the ability to change the color
of your dress from pink to blue.

Your French Hydrangea is a beauty and her vivid colors really appeal to me. Love the way you styled “her”,on the porch with the gray bench, and I’m ready for a glass of tea… it’s already hot and muggy here, and it isn’t even 8 am.

A favorite of mine, the rich colors, the spectrum of hues. We have a large white one but it cannot match the magnificence of the smaller ones in the front. Wonder how she feels about crepe myrtle? beautiful setting and pictures by the way. :)
My absolute favorite flower!! I have a garden full of them…..all kinds and colors! In fact, I am watering them right now as it has been so hot here in North Carolina this past week….and no rain :( Thanks for sharing this…I love it!
Is there a way to keep potted hydrangeas alive. I have a screened in porch at my condo in Missouri. I have been told they need to be planted in the ground, they are not meant for a potted garden.

Beautiful pictures. We used them in my daughter’s wedding and reception. Bridesmaids wore navy blue and the interior of the church was palest blue. It was lovely. Thanks for bringing back precious memories.

Mmmm – those colours are wonderful. They remind me of the colours of the rhodos that I so love in May and June. It’s lovely to have those shades later in the summer too.
Your hydrangeas are gorgeous and I love the weathered furniture too. At one of our local restaurants the label it southern tea(sweet) or northern tea. Kinda cute.

I have the enormous blue ones Mary. My grandmother did too at her home in S.C. and I cannot see them without thinking of her and those blooms flanking the front door.

I love her. She is my very favorite flower. Hard tell how many time I have put paint to canvas to sing her praises.
Gardening is usually my passion simply because it really aids myself to enjoy and relax. I like to grow flowers both indoors as well as outside the house. My own favorite plants are usually tropical ornamental plants and flowers as well as fruit bearing plants.
They are beautiful! I don’t have any to enjoy here, but I do love them.
Gorgeous. I have a hydrangea that I’m trying to baby along. It was given to me as a gift. Looks good, but no blooms … maybe next year. Meanwhile, I’ll enjoy yours!
