Sunflowers ~ fields of sunflowers ~ now that is a lovely thought! I’ve had bunches here this summer. They make me smile. Some were from a friend’s garden, and when they were gone I replenished from the local market. Sunny sunflowers say summer!
What a happy post! I hope you weren’t as close to those bees as it looks:) My hubby is VERY allergic and we have ended up in the hospital on numerous occasions. No sunflower fields nearby so I will rely on Trader Joe’s too. Hopefully will get there on sat., it is 45 mins. away for the closest one:( Have a sunny weekend, my friend. XO, Pinky

Beautiful sunflowers! I saw a field of sunflowers while traveling to the coast last month. It was the first time I had ever saw an entire field of them! I told my son instead instead of bushhogging our pasture, he could just plant sunflowers! He didn’t really go for that idea!
How exciting! I love sunflowers and am so glad to see so many bees enjoyed them…Bees seem to be disappearing in record numbers and it is encouraging to see so many in one place! Thank you, Mary for an inspiring post and such stunning photos!

Mary, your photos of the sunflowers and the bees are stunning! I planted sunflowers the first year after we moved here. The deer ate the heads off of them! I may have to try again next year, but I’ll put them inside the garden this time.
What a very good find for you and your camera! Sunflowers are in full bloom here, and the other day I bought them for 60 cents each at a farm market. What a deal!

Beautiful sunflower photos!!! I live just outside Denver, Colorado. We had fields and fields of sunflowers several years ago, then for some reason, the grower stopped planting. I loved driving by them. I love how they follow the sun. They switch their direction depending on where the sun shines on them.

We don’t have a Trader Joe’s but we can get our sunflowers at farm stands. I’ve always thought that they are the perfect segue-flowers from summer to fall.
Mary, Your sunflower photos are amazing. I think my favorite is the 11th one with the blue morning glory next to it. Not one–not a single one–of my sunflowers came up this year!! I don’t know if it was the bad October weather last year, or hungry varmints, or an overzealous gardener. I had to buy the silk ones at Pottery Barn, which pale in comparison with this lovely field you found. Your MIL has a good eye for beauty! Linda
