I took the opportunity & advantage of long hubby-free weekend
to tackle some projects and do a little window dressing~
harvesting & gathering in my Potting Shed.
Dressing my window box~ filling it with pumpkins,
gourds, Indian corn, and ornamental kale.
I’ve been in a Thanksgiving state of mind,
with Pumpkin Granola and
the aroma of pumpkin pie in the air.
A new-to-me turkey platter, unmarked,
with crazing and a few blemishes was harvested
from my favorite antique mall for $8~
This turkey is now free-range :) roosting in my
window box with Thanksgiving on the horizon.
I gathered together some grasses
from a field nearby along with some leaves~
And paired them with pumpkins,
ranging from blue-gray to tiger stripe.
Goldenrod with its feathery texture
along with some fall leaves,
fill a basket on the door in greeting~
Surrounding a turkey plate, Giving Thanks~
Autumn Monarch by Johnson Brothers.
My weekly pilgrimage to Target for groceries yielded this wreath hanger that came with interchangeable, seasonal plaques.
The plate hanger attached to the plate, hooks easily over the end of the wreath hanger, wired to the basket.
The other three plaques wish Happy Holidays,
announce Home Sweet Home, and Happy Spring.

Beautiful!!! I love your use of the different Johnson Brothers patterns…..Harvest Time is the pattern my grandmother used each holiday season and now it is mine. I can’t wait to see what you come up with for the rest of the season.

Your post this morning was refreshing after seing all the negative comments on FB in the wake of the election results. Give Thanks is truly shown throughout this post. Abundance graciously displayed throughout your design. I am smitten with the falling leaves atop the rustic roofing! The plaid throw and the pillow on the side bench are unique hues and blend graciously with you color palette. Desired warmth is at hand despite the chill in the air! My overall favorite is still the rake with the Indian Corn. I will Give Thanks for this uplifting and inspiring this post today, among many others.

just thought i’d say that i am concerned for your lovely stained glass window. i think those hooks might be a little too ‘open’. maybe squeezing them closed a little more would keep them from unhooking in a stiff breeze?

Thanks Celeste! I actually bring the window in, especially if they’re forecasting wind and rainy weather. Its age is showing and it’s starting to lose some of the glazing on the back side :)

What day do you usually go to Target? Our Target does not have alot of groceries, does yours have a full grocery store???? Gorgeous pictures once again. XOXO
Pinky~ LOL, My hubby doesn’t go out of town but maybe twice a year :) We have a Super Target so it has a full selection of groceries. I go a couple of times a week depending on what I need but it’s never any certain day.

I haven’t had a hubby-free weekend for a long time! I also gets so much more done when those times come around. You have done such magical things with your potting shed and I’ll say it again…it’s cute and cozy enough to live in :)
Such a gorgeous display! I have been searching for scrolly iron window boxes like that one for a long time. Have a hubby-free weekend of my own coming up too, we always miss them, but seem to get so much more done don’t we :) It’s just beautiful, Mary!

Mary, I echo what Linda said above. I too, would love just a smidgen of your creativity and I might add energy. I love natural material be it fruit, berries, pumpkins, kale, flowers and on and on. You do it the best. I also love the vintage waterings cans, olive buckets, baskets, textures and colors. Thanks for your visit and sweet comments. I think the torch would be a hit.
Mary, I can’t tell you how much I love the baskets with the “free range” turkeys nestled in the foliage and pumpkins. GORGEOUS! and the olive bucket with the grass…LOVE it ALL!

This is so beautiful; it’s like something out of a magazine!! I love everything about it. I love the window box, the antique stained-glass window, the turkey plates and platter, the rake with the Indian corn, and the tartan plaid throw. I adore tartan plaid!!

I love all your turkey dishes and of course the wreath hanger which I want every time I see it change for the seasons!
