Winter Oreo Fun

DSC_0192-003

We celebrated Christmas with my husband’s family but my family’s celebration was postponed due to the flu making the rounds. Our “Christmas” was rescheduled for this past weekend since Monday was a holiday and the kids were out of school.

DSC_0042-001

I broke out the Winter Oreos I picked up in December for our celebration, and to have a little Winter Oreo Fun for my nephews & niece~

Since Valentine’s Day is around the corner, we had a little Valentine’s Oreo celebration too.

DSC_0047-002

Oreos are dipped in CandiQuik, melted according to the package directions, and given a quick and snowy white coating of chocolate.

DSC_0066-001

The CandiQuik sets up quickly, hence the name :) so you have to work fast to attach the chocolate chips for the eyes and mouth, or melt some chips to attach them after the white chocolate coating is set up.

DSC_0106-001

I used orange Wilton Candy Melts left from Halloween, piped on after the candy coating is firm, for carrot noses.

A no bake frosty treat for kids~

There are 30 Oreos in a package so I also

made some Valentine Oreo Brownies~

DSC_0087-004

I used the same procedure as with my Halloween Oreo Brownies, dunking the Oreo in brownie batter, baking in a muffin tin sprayed liberally with cooking spray. Betty Crocker’s Fudge Brownie Mix cooked a little quicker than my favorite, go-to brownie mix, Ghirardelli, and made for a smoother brownie layer. A family size brownie mix will also be enough batter for an entire package of 30 Oreos.

DSC_0095-001

My brownies baked in about 10 minutes at 350 degrees~  but could take as long as 15 minutes depending on your oven, just test for doneness with a toothpick.

DSC_0059-001

I let the brownies cool in the pan and then put the pan in the refrigerator for 20 minutes for easier removal.

DSC_0069-001

I used Wilton Candy Melts in pink & red to drizzle on a little decoration and attach some sprinkles~

A quick and easy treat for Valentine’s Day!

The Winter Edition Oreos are no longer available in stores, but I saw the pink creme center ones~ Berry Burst Ice Cream, in Target a few days ago.

DSC_0039-002

Dear Nabisco, Please consider having your Winter Edition Oreos available through Valentine’s Day, since the weather is perfectly frosty outside and it’s technically still winter :)

Any Oreo wrapped inside a fudgy brownie layer is a happy little package to unwrap for Valentine’s Day!

How much fun. All the Oreo treats look fantastic! I made a pie yesterday, and my husband and I took one bite and said “enough” and threw it out. We are training for a rigorous ski trip, and we’ve got to be *good* :/

How FUN!!! Mary, these treats are wonderfully creative & look delicious!
I wonder if you could us a cupcake liner to help keep the brownie/oreos from sticking to the pan? I may give it a try that way & report back.
Thanks for the delightful ideas & kudos on your mouth watering photos…always a treat.

    Warm hugs,
    Rett

Hi Mary, You must be the favorite aunt! These look so easy. We also use the Ghiradelli mix. I like chunks in my brownies. Linda

Up in Canada we used to get winter oreos. Regular oreos dipped in white chocolate. They were the best but havn’t found them the last few years. They should make them even though I know i can dip them myself in the chocolate.
    Your cookies look great.
