April 6th is National Tartan Day!
I had every intention of setting a table in celebration but it’s been a busy two weeks with Easter.
My wee bonnie lasses joined the Tartan Parade in blogland last year, so I’m flaunting their plaiditude again this year in celebration!
Chloe & Gracie are Mad for Plaid and joining the Tartan Parade to celebrate National Tartan Day April 6th!
They love a good cookie parade and
were begging to join in the fun :)

for the weather~ they agreed to
a little bribery modeling . . .
There are plenty of treats for
plaid-wearing-pups and parade attendees!

Chloe & Gracie were hoping to don an authentic tartan from
the preferred tartan clothier of discriminating canines.
And join the ranks of Clan MacHowl~ the honorary clan for dogs who wear distinctive tartan dog fashions.
You can select tartan swatches from The Heelan’ Hound~ with over 500 authentic Scottish, Irish, Welsh, Canadian and military tartans available.
They’re keeping their paws crossed that they can sport an authentic kilt-coat next year :)

A little watery reflection
of sky to start the day~
The sun coming up over the horizon after
a week of rain is a welcome sight to see. . .
The light changes and shifts
so quickly at sunrise. . .
. . .that I usually don’t have time to
grab my camera and capture it.
But when you’re up three hours
before the sun,
you get a jump-start to your day :)

Our lake house was built in the ’80s~
the decade for big hair, not big closets :)
Our house in Charlotte, built in the ’90s, had lots of kitchen cabinets, closets, and I had dish storage in my dining room in the china cabinet, sideboard, and commode.
We have been at the lake permanently for a little over a year now, so we traded our dining room and closet space for our lake view.
A good trade, but there are times when I
miss my dining room, closets and roomy cabinets.
I took a page out of Debbie’s book at Words on Wheels
and re-purposed some space~
Debbie made a Crathroom~part bathroom, part craft space!
I could have followed in Carrie Bradshaw’s footsteps and used my oven for dish storage instead of sweaters, but I use my oven :)
Instead I found some dish storage in an unlikely spot~ in our upstairs bathroom.
Our bonus room upstairs was used by the previous
owners as a bedroom so it has a full bath.
Since we use it as a media room,
the shower has never been used.
So I’m using it now :)
The shower has glass doors that I hung a shower curtain over to soften the bathroom and hide the 1980′s frosted glass and mirrored shower doors.
I removed the doors for convenience to assemble
It conveniently came with 4 holes
on each shelf that I could slip a
shower curtain ring through,
to hang bowls & cups.
I found 10-pocket canvas shoe bags at Target,
that I hung on a tension rod
that are the perfect size for napkin storage!
I’ve had lots of emails and comments
recently about my dishes and storage~
I have 4 full sets of dishes, (service for 8)~
chosen when we got married and
very ’80s-patterned tulip salad plates :),
For tablescaping and to feed my dish habit, I limit myself to buying 2′s and 4′s, sometimes with salad plates, sometimes just dinner plates.
