Just Ducky

 D is for Ducks

This week’s letter assignment is the letter D~

Fall is my favorite time of year at the lake. . . it will be a couple more weeks before the leaves change so no beautiful leaves to show you yet. Other than the beautiful color and cooler temps, the other reason it is my favorite season is the fact that most everyone has taken their boat out of the water, and is gone ’til Memorial Day next year. That’s just ducky with me~

So it’s just us and the ducks for the most part. . .

“Be like a duck. Calm on the surface, but always paddling like the dickens underneath.”
~Michael Caine

Just ducky is right. These are beautiful, Mary. I love the Michael Caine quote.

Our leaves are beginning to change, here, still a couple of weeks away from peak. I posted a couple of shots from last year. Not sure if ours will be as beautiful this year. So far they don’t look as brilliant. I love this time of year!

We’ve had a huge amount of rain in the past week and our ducks love it. They woke me in the wee hours with their splashing in the pond – a midnight swim!

what a cute post, we share the same love of fall, and solitude! darling pics, i could watch them for hours~

  7. October 10, 2010 at 10:28 am

Darling photos! ACL is going on here this weekend so there are thousands of extra people in town. We can hear the bands and the crowds, and we are miles away from the venue. Solitude ~ sounds heavenly! Enjoy your autumn days on the water with the ducks. ~ Sarah

    Hello,
I came here from Lola’s blog. I noticed your comment because of the Bichons. We have a 12 year old Bichon named Ruby and Rusty, a terrier mix. Your photos are fabulous.

What fun mosaics! My 2 year old was sitting on my lap while looking at tonights mosaics and she has picked yours as her favorite! LOL

I love the “be like a duck” quote! I may have to make it my new motto. Your lake sounds like a bit of heaven. Enjoy the peace of having it all to yourselves (and the ducks, of course).

  40. October 13, 2010 at 5:28 pm

I have seen that Michael Caine quote somewhere recently. Good advice!!

  48. October 13, 2010 at 9:59 pm

Such pretty duckies! We have mostly only the brown ducks here and big honking messy geese! LOL! I have seen a white family of ducks a few years ago but haven’t seen them in awhile. I love the white ones. We also enjoy this time of year on the lake when the majority of the boaters pull out for the winter. It’s like a breath of fresh air!

  49. October 14, 2010 at 12:50 am

What a fun stop on our little journey through Alphabe-Thursday’s letter “D”!

That duck quote totally ‘quacked’ me up.

And the duck pictures were great.

My husband would say the only thing better than this post would be a glazed duck breast in plum sauce for dinner.

But I just say, this was great!

    A+

  61. October 14, 2010 at 9:04 pm

Wonder pictures of the ducks. My daughter has 5 ducks that she raised from ducklings. Afraid a couple have become quite the bullies to the smaller ones.

  62. October 15, 2010 at 10:58 am

As always, stunning pictures of the goings on at the lake.

  63. October 15, 2010 at 5:22 pm
