I set a table for two outdoors, taking advantage a serene lake in the background, with most of the recreational boaters having put away their boats for the season.

I am thankful for so many things but this past weekend, I was thankful for crisp fall weather, a Carolina Blue sky, and some much anticipated fall color in the trees.

Mary, you have enriched my Fall experience with this Autumnal tablesetting. The leaves scattered around the China and the colors there-in are shouting the Season’s Greetings. The Pumpkin arrangement is so inspiring and perfectly designed. I am Thankful that I have been able to see and enjoy the vivid colors of this Fall season. They seem brighter and more reflective this year, or is it that I am more appreciative of the simple things as I get older. I will never take Mother Nature for granted. She is the perfect artist.
Thank you for taking your table to this picturesque place by the lake and sharing that beauty with us. CGE

Oh, this is beautiful! Everything is set off just perfectly in that gorgeous autumn light. Your tablecloth is so pretty. Your setting, as always, is wonderful. I don’t know how you ever go indoors.

  14. November 17, 2010 at 10:54 pm

Mary, This table is GORGEOUS!!!! A bounty of inspiration. I love all the warm wicker and twiggy elements. Your colors are perfect for fall. And the backdrop of the waterfront adds a glorious natural setting. The little gourds and pumpkins in your lanterns are an inspiraiton! I am putting this table in my “favorite tablescape” file! You have really outdone yourself with this table… one of the prettiest I have seen this fall.

    Lovely spot, setting everything!

  16. November 17, 2010 at 11:07 pm

Mary, I just came from Carolyn’s fireside setting and now this alfresco setting ~ my absolute two favorite ways to dine. This autumn setting glows from every angle. I’m with Yvonne, this is a favorite in my mind. You are a master at putting it all together. Add your beautiful lake side setting and it’s perfection!
    Happy Thanksgiving! ~ Sarah

Was this a magazine photo shoot?!!! It sure should be! GORGEOUS! I love the colours, the setting, the photography and of course, the tablescape! The fresh floral/leaf pumpkin centerpiece is lovely and a striking contrast with the blue water in the background. I’ve got to go back and look again! (I know I’ve admired your black lanterns before – I’ve got to find me some!)

Looove your Johnson Bros. plates! I am such a lover of using treasured china and dinnerware from the past. It makes me feel like I have a connection with joyous occasions from earlier times. And are those Pottery Barn chairs? I have them at my lake house. too

I reeaally love your lake view! It is serene and beautiful! We have family in N.C. and I will have to ask them about Lake Norman – it looks so lovely. We have some beautiful homes along Lake Tulloch in California too…someday I will post photos on my blog. We’ve only had that vacation home for a year but your lake scenes are inspiring me! Happy Thanksgiving!

  27. November 18, 2010 at 10:17 am

This is most gorgeous! Your photographs are stunning. I love the arrangement in the pumpkin. I also love the double chargers.. This is by far a most inviting setting. Beautifully done.

  28. November 18, 2010 at 10:24 am

What a gorgeous table! Starting with such a lovely setting is a plus, but adding the plaid blanket and that STUNNING centerpiece really makes this table swoonworthy!

  29. November 18, 2010 at 11:54 am

Well, it’s hard to set a table that competes with the scenery, but I think you managed to do it. I love plaid, so the blanket really caught my eye.

Where ever did you find the cold drink (champagne) chiller? It is WONDERFUL!

  30. November 18, 2010 at 6:40 pm

Oh my this is lovely! That centerpiece is just so beautiful, and what an amazing setting! LOOOOVE it!!

  31. November 18, 2010 at 7:26 pm

Once again lovely, and how wonderful that you are still eating outside. Many will envy that!

  32. November 18, 2010 at 9:56 pm

What a beautiful setting for your turkey plates — the pumpkin filled with flowers and that wonderful plaid scarf on your table!

  33. November 18, 2010 at 11:55 pm

Absolutely magnificent. We sold our lake house a number of years ago, but I always most loved to be there during the fall and winter, when all the amateurs had gone until the next summer. Thank you for sharing your top to bottom elegant design. Cherry Kay

  34. November 19, 2010 at 1:44 am

Mary, this is one of the prettiest tables of the season. I love anything orange; the plaid tablecloth is beautiful…of course the plates are, too. Your floral arrangement is stunning.
    Have a very Happy Thanksgiving!

Can’t wait to visit more often… going to include you in my blogroll. Love the pups too! That Bouchon post with the cupcakes and corks is genius ;)

This is the first time I have seen your blog and am getting ready for good Thanksgiving recipes. The table has been set since the beginning of October. At first I discovered tablescaping last year and thanks to Alycia Nichols from http://www.tabletwentyone.wordpress.com and Susan from betweennapsontheporch.net I seemed to have found the most beautiful designs for setting up lovely tables for intimate parties or big parties. Now I have another wonderful source to look for beautiful ideas while entertaining. Ohhh, how that lake back drop has to be stunning. Have a wonderfull fall and a Happy Thaksgiving.
