The blossoms are beginning to shatter and rain down~ making way for purplish/red foliage~
I’m sorry to see the blooms fade, but if I have to be showered on~ I’ll take a shower of petals over thunderstorms any day!
These violets are under my neighbor’s tree~ being showered with petals~ and providing a little Food for Thought inspiration for our next book selection~
Reminding me to tell you that it’s not too late to read
“Mix a love story, history, and a mystery and what takes root? The Violets of March, a novel that reminds us how the past comes back to haunt us, and packs a few great surprises for the reader along the way.”
~Jodi Picoult, author of Sing You Home & House Rules
You might find yourself inspired to pack a picnic, shake up a Gordon Green cocktail, whip up a stack of pancakes, stir up some risotto, or have a clambake~
You never know on what journey a good book will lead you!
Wishing you an extended forecast of blue skies & blooms, with a chance of showering petals :)
Your photography is impeccable. Gorgeous blooms. Ours are starting to bloom here in Chapel Hill too!..I so miss living on the water..I miss the tranquil mornings of coffee on the patio and the sights and sounds of the birds….You certainly have a little slice of heaven where you are!..
These are gorgeous Mary. Our petals are raining down, after the showers we’ve had the last couple of days. The Redbud is beginning to bloom though. I will be out there with my camera.:-)
As I look out my window, I see layers of blooms on the ground and the trees/shrubs from which they fell are now leafing out with their new green. Spring is a season of much beauty and quick change.
Gorgeous! Lots blooming around Austin at the moment. The Mountain Laurels are all in full bloom so the air is filled with their fragrance. They are prettier this year than most. This has been a garden weekend for me. ;-)
Beautiful pictures, Mary! Our trees are just starting to bllom so I am looking forward to being showered with peteal! Like you said the best kind of shower! Hope your weekend is going great. XO, Pinky

Gorgeous pictures! What a beautiful view you have.
Hi Mary, Your trees are so beautiful and nothing matches a petal shower. I usually get one or two each spring. The book Violets of March sounds like a good read. I will have to add it to my list of “to read”.
Have a great week.
That is an amazing tree. Lovely color. I love the collage of the violets with the book in the middle. Your spring is much more advanced than here in CT.
beautiful beautiful mosaics. Spring is such a glorious time of year. Thank you for sharing these gorgeous blooms with us. We are in autumn here, with some hot days of summer still hanging on.
Have a wonderful week.

Beautiful photos. Petal showers would be lovely, but a nice rain would also be lovely here, there has been not rain or snow for most of the winter.
Such beautiful blooms and we are blanketed in 6 inches of snow. I am glad we didn’t have any blooms yet. We were out pruning and gardening with the kids on Saturday and then boom – dumped on! I couldn’t believe it when I got up Sunday and it kept up all day! Sounds like a fun book! I always love romance and food together. I guess food is just romantic. Glad hubby is a romantic foodie with me!
Both the plum blossoms and violets are gorgeous. We are just now starting to see blooms on a few trees. Yesterday was sunny but today we have had wind and rain with cool temps. Our spring like weather has not arrived yet.
This post is another of your amazing collections of gorgeous shots. You are so talented when it come to photographing natures wonderful landscapes, plants, and trees. All of these pink and lavender blooms make me feel like I, too, have a spring in my tired old step tonight.
Such pretty blossoms, ours will be along by next month. Right now we have a thunderstorm on the horizon but if we at least get some rain, it will be welcome.
Very pretty! The trees have started to bloom here too, I just love it:@)

So pretty, especially the ones with the lake peeking behind. We are in full bloom here with the gorgeous cherry trees.

The photos are glorious and thank you for the book recommendation. I just put a “hold” on it at my library.
Showering petals! What a gorgeous description of Spring flowering trees. Branches filled with pink flowers just says “Spring” to me.
Lovely pictures, as always.

Oh, the blossoms are lovely. We still have stark naked branches and plenty of snow on the ground! But accompanied by the bluest of blue skies! :)
I can’t wait for the blooms to start showing up around the pond!
The blossom has opened up here too. It’s wonderful to see the world coming back into colour.
The purple leaf plum is Ravishing…
Pulling up a nice, shady spot under one of those trees with a picnic and a book sounds Really tempting…
