A Teeny Bit of Table Inspiration

Michael Lee West has cooked more delicious fun in

A Teeny Bit of Troublethe second installment and follow-up to Gone With a Handsomer Man!

Lately I’ve been reacquainting myself and

Tasting with Teeny Templeton!

Since I’ve been following Teeny’s troubles~ I’ve been engrossed by Peaches, Red Velvet Cakes, a Bulldog named Sir, and lethal and imaginary recipes.

I’m reposting a table, from last year, inspired by

Gone With a Handsomer Man~

I hope you don’t mind a second helping :)

A Teeny bit of table inspiration from

Gone with a Handsomer Man by Michael Lee West~

Besides some table inspiration, GWAHM provided me with lots of laughs from the cast of quirky characters, along with some major food cravings~

Teeny Templeton, is an out of work pastry chef who cuts her own hair, does her own nails, and prefers cotton over silk.

She sets the table with some blue & white floral dishes, which had me promptly reaching for a set I received as a gift.

Teeny:

“I set the patio table with blue-and-white floral dishes, added a vase filled with hydrangeas. . .”

There are no hydrangeas at my table, but my peonies have just begun to bloom~

Villeroy & Boch “Switch 3” Dinnerware, a mix and match collection, allows you to combine patterns to personalize your table~

The Cordoba dinner plate has a bird and flower design, reminiscent of Portuguese tiles~

The Castell salad plates have a checkerboard motif,  a pattern perfect for the countryside, or lakeside~

I added hobnail glasses to the table that Teeny’s Aunt Bluette might have served Iced Tea in~

Iced Tea that a girl from a Peach Farm would love~

Summer Peach Tea Punch~

~made with tea, peach nectar, ginger ale, lemonade, simple syrup and club soda.

~recipe courtesy Southern Living here.

I eliminated the simple syrup and used diet ginger ale to cut out some of the sugar~

* gasp*

I know, we tend to drink our tea so sweet in the South it makes your teeth ache :)

Teeny picks up dinner at the grocery store:

“I came out with an apple walnut salad with raspberry vinaigrette, a wedge of brie, and a cheesecake sampler.”

An Apple Walnut Salad~ sliced apples, walnuts, dried cranberries, & blue cheese crumbles on a bed of baby lettuces.

While Teeny’s salad is dressed with raspberry vinaigrette, we enjoyed Light Cranberry Walnut dressing, straight from the bottle ~

We skipped the cheesecake sampler and saved our calories for Brie~

Brie in Puff Pastry, recipes & videos courtesy Pepperidge Farm, here.

Coop:

“ ‘I love how your mind works, Teeny. Like a bird hopping from twig to twig, never losing sight of the worm.’ ”

Enjoy Gone with a Handsomer Man and A Teeny Bit of Trouble and help yourself to some Southern Flavor, Food & Fun~

Wonderful post for a morning read, set me in a perfect mood for a whole day. Lovely peonies, so inviting… I though it’s just me who noticed a super sweet tea they serve here in the South, and glad that I am not alone. :) That Teeny is so intriguing, ordering it for my Kindle today. Have a perfect day! :)

Your tables are always so beautiful. What an inspiration! I love your outdoor tables with that fabulous view. That salad looks scrumptious. The flowers are perfect for your table. Just love it all!

Mary I loved perusing this post. Peonies are a favorite of mine. My mother had a large bed of them during my growing up years and I remember that the little ants loved the sweetness of the blooms. Love the shadow on the plate. Blue and white setting is beautiful. Thanks for sharing ! CE NC

  10. April 25, 2012 at 4:30 pm

Thank you for the 2nd helping, and I wouldn’t mind a 3rd!!! I still just love how you are able to create tables from the inspiration you get from reading!!! If only I could sit still long enough to make it through an entire paragraph!!! :-) I love the baskets you used for chargers on this table. Really great idea! I especially love how your fabulous peonies mimic the design on the plates!!!!!!! To quote Oliver Twist, “Please, sir, can I have some more?” ;-) (OK…so maybe I have read a little bit in my time!)

I am hungry and now want peach tea. I am a South Carolina girl but gave up sweet tea years ago. My sis drinks vats of it however. Beautifully inticate post Mary.

  12. April 25, 2012 at 6:06 pm

Now this is a tea I could enjoy. I am not a tea girl but this sounds SO good, I will try it! The table is fabulous and the VIEW makes my mouth water:) XO, Pinky

  13. April 25, 2012 at 6:26 pm

As enjoyable as a hana hou (encore in Hawaiian) as it was the first time around…I love blue and white anything and have a collection of assorted pieces in porcelain and cobalt glass… I really enjoyed reading GWAHM and am looking forward to Teeny’s further adventures…!

  14. April 25, 2012 at 7:10 pm

You always make me want to be a guest at your wonderful table! I love your dishes and those hobnail glasses and those wonderful rattan chargers!!

  15. April 25, 2012 at 7:20 pm

Your peonies are already blooming? Having those beauties in full color is my favorite time of the year. I just wish the flowers lasted a little longer and weren’t scared away by rain. Having just returned from Portugal, your dishes look very familiar.

Not only is your table goreous but, all the food and drinks look amazing! Definitely an eye candy post! Visitng from LD!

  19. April 25, 2012 at 8:38 pm

If I’ve seen this before, I’m delighted anew. I love it all from dishes to the peonies. (If there is any flower in the world that can compete with the hydrangea, it’s the peony.

I’m ashamed to admit that I haven’t read either book. I keep meaning to since they are so well reviewed in blog land. I MUST do something about that.

  20. April 25, 2012 at 9:38 pm

Don’t you just love Teeny? And her cheesecake sampler and other yummy goodies? I read book # 2 so I have to be careful not to give anything away. Love your table and those trays–but you must have gotten them awhile ago if this is a repost. I always like reposts because I have a chance to see things I’ve missed. The bird on the brie is beautifully done! And your photos of the peonies are incredible. I am using a Nikon 5100d now, but I’m not quite happy, especially with closeups. Oh, and your salad looks good enough to eat right off my computer screen!

    April 26, 2012 at 6:20 am

Mary, I smiled when I saw the peonies. Ours arent ready yet, but it’s the one flower that I can’t get enough of, and wish they would last longer. What a beautiful table! I have those blue goblets and they look great with the colors of the peonies.

  22. April 26, 2012 at 8:20 am

Let me just say, everything looks so lovely.
I gasped when I saw the brie, looks so fantastic.

I want to read this book!! Lovely tablesetting, but what really caught my eye is the VIEW!! Just beautiful!

  24. April 26, 2012 at 10:20 am

Beautiful! You pitcher and glasses are gorgeous.I love that you set your table with your peonies. Mine will be in full bloom in a couple of days.

  25. April 26, 2012 at 10:23 am

Mary, this is a beautiful table to start my day. I’m away from my computer, but checking in quickly while I’ve got a moment. Your blue and white dishes are so refreshing, and perfect paired with the basket chargers. I like that idea! No peonies here unless I buy them, but they are one of my favorite flowers. Thanks for sharing this beautiful table. My heart is singing! ~ Sarah

  26. April 26, 2012 at 10:37 am

Gorgeous settings and fantastic photography! I love the baskets you used for chargers. What an idea! Thanks for sharing.
Hope to see you on my blog:)

  27. April 26, 2012 at 10:54 am

I remember this beauty, Mary! Who would mind a second or third look at this with that view, the peonies and the VB dishes! Thanks so much for linking to Let’s Dish! Have a great weekend!

  28. April 26, 2012 at 11:07 am

My breath is taken away everytime I see your view of the water! What a perfect setting for Teeny’s southern lunch Mary! Everything is so pretty. I just adore your beautiful blue plates. You do such a nice job reviewing a book too. The food looks delicious. I love your bird on the brie!

I transplanted my peonies because they just weren’t getting enough sun. We are about 3 weeks behind you so I can’t wait to see if they do better this year. Yours are exquisite.

  29. April 26, 2012 at 11:58 am

So beautiful! Salad looks delicious! Thanks for sharing, Tammy

  30. April 26, 2012 at 12:48 pm

Everything is wonderful — the table the views and especially the peonies! I just cannot seem to grow them here — had lots in my last yard.

  31. April 26, 2012 at 3:00 pm

Mary, I always feel like I could sit at one of your tables and feel so at home. Each detail is so welcoming. I always seem to like the same things that you do. I love how you used the trays here. We finally got a Home Goods here and I am there too often. The food looks delicious. The bird on top of the puff pastry brie is absolutely delightful. You and Jain do the most amazing things with food. So inspiring!

  32. April 26, 2012 at 5:07 pm

Hi Mary! Just breathtaking!!! I’ve said it before, but your tablescapes and photos are awesome. My husband just bought some property with a lake, so I’m hoping I can do a tablescape or two there when the weather is a bit better. It’s nothing there yet, just land and water, a work in progress, but he is like a kid in a candy store!! You have set the standard high! I adore the combination of the baskets with the gorgeous blue dishes and stemware. And who doesn’t love peonies?!! Mine haven’t bloomed yet, I wish they lasted all summer! Thanks for the inspiration, have a great weekend!!–Betsy

Your setting and your photography skills are just as lovely as this tablesape. I have to make that salad now! The deep pink in the flowers is such a nice compliment to the blue and white with the added texture from the chargers and the dining table.

It’s so nice to see the water in the background… makes me think your boat is near.
