 After years of planning, perusing magazines, and procrastinating, I have a Potting Shed under construction~ a belated milestone birthday gift, more thrilling to me than a trip or shiny piece of jewelry!

A Place to Pot, Plan, and Putter!

 My early spring issue of Country Gardens Magazine

was the inspiration for the exterior.

With a little picking from Cline’s Antiques

for a few salvage items~

~Doors, $12 each

~Posts for Front Porch, $15 each

~Rusted Metal for Roof of the Porch, $3 a panel, Tetanus shot not included :)

I took my savings from our pickings at Cline’s, and splurged on a pair of leaded glass windows, one hung horizontally and one hung vertically.

We found a pair of sash windows there also, installed to let light in but not to function, with built in work areas that I plan to skirt and use for storage underneath.

Southern Living provided some interior inspiration~ one white coat of paint, over spruce boards providing a clean surface for function and hanging on the walls, while allowing the knots and grain of the wood to show.

 With an overwhelming number of whites to choose from, I choose by name~ White Heron, cousin to the Blue Heron that fishes regularly in our cove and walks down our dock.

 I decided to keep the floors plywood~ stained the same color as the porch~ a neutral color, Cypress Moss.

I’m on the lookout for an indoor/outdoor area rug that can be swept or hosed down.

Cedar Shake siding was given a couple of coats semi-transparent stain to speed up the aging process and tone down the new pink/red color.

Sherwin-Williams WoodScapes® Semi-Transparent, Blue Shadow~ more gray than blue.

Sherwin-Williams, Fireweed, SW 6328 for the doors~ a brick color, at times appearing more red depending on the light. And the green trim color is SW6452 Inland.

 Landscaping to come this fall,

and a roof in a week or so.
