Potting Shed Update- Fall Dressing

My Potting Shed is nearly finished~

 and Dressed for Fall!

My early spring issue of Country Gardens Magazine

was the inspiration for the exterior~

You can see how she’s grown here.

A blend of old & new~ salvaged metal panels cover the porch roof and are married with new green steel~

Landscaping is on my “to do” list this fall.

In the meantime, I’m transitioning and layering, to dress for fall~ adding color and texture with pots & pumpkins.

For instant window dressing~ mums, kale, gourds and mini pumpkins are planted in my window box~

And Indian Corn on

a vintage garden rake~

My stepping stones have been relocated to a more prominent spot~

A favorite Hans Christian Andersen quote~

“…said the butterfly” :)

I gave my pair of corbels a coat of green and transplanted them on the porch posts~

A little bird told me about vintage

olive buckets at Tuesday Morning~

naturally I had to fly right over!

Coincidentally, her name is Olive at Olive Out :)

And I harvested some Goldenrod for some fall color to fill it~

Thanks Olive!

Wishing you Happy Harvesting

and Happy Fall Dressing~

Thank you for your visit!

Aw, Mary! Your little potting shed is so cute! I love how she is decorated for autumn. The tiny leaded window with its little window box is my very favorite. So, so sweet!

I am convinced you spend every waking moment with your brain in creative mode. How else could you have so many wonderful vignettes? What you do makes my heart sing!

Mary, I have subscribed to your wonderful blog for sometime now. I am wondering why I am having so much trouble uploading it. It takes forever, whether I go directly to the blog or just view it from the email. Is there something on my side that I need to do? Thank you, Carolyn

      I don’t know the answer, I’m sorry :(
I’m guessing it’s the quantity of photos which take time to load and slow it down. I subscribe too, to make sure the emails go out but the emails always load quickly for me. I’m not sure what browser you use~ WordPress works best with Firefox or Chrome, I use Chrome.

How beautiful Mary! I am trying to find the time to transform one of the chicken coops (who needs more than one???) into a potting shed, and this is wonderfully inspirational.

  6. October 13, 2012 at 11:21 am

The little potting shed looks “so right” and settled….I don’t think anyone seeing it for the first time would think it was so brand spanking new! Love it!

Your potting shed is really lovely. Those stepping stones are so special.

Mary, Mary, Mary. Details, Details, Details. I love the Details. The old rusty porch roof. Old porch Posts with the olden corbels. Inspiring stepping stones. It all adds up to a very inviting “potting shed”. Don’t be surprised if you find me sitting on the porch some day.

I am in love with your potting shed and so impressed that you created the look from the magazine. You are so talented.

I love the door….well all the details but the door especially!!!

This is absolutely amazing. I too have that magazine and would love to revamp my shed to look like it. Fall is my favorite time of year, and you display it so beautifully. Keep it up

Mary, I knew you were going to have fun getting this new jewel dressed for the season. It’s such a happy little “shed”. I love the vintage touches! Makes me long for a potting shed, but there is no room for one here.
On another note, I read the comment above about difficulty loading your blog. I have no problem when I’m on your site, but I can’t read it when it arrives in my email box. All is does is bounce back up to the beginning when I try to scroll down through it. Another friend commented that she has the same with the email version. Any ideas?

Sarah~ I have an email into support. In the meantime I changed for format for emails for my posts to summary instead of full text so it’s a notification and less annoying with non-loading photos. I get an email for each post too, they always load for me so I’m not sure. Thanks for letting me know.

Oh Mary, this is the most adorable potting shed I’ve ever seen! I love its red door, window bax and the quote stepping stones. It looks like a doll house for grown ups–have fun playing with it!

  17. October 13, 2012 at 10:23 pm

Hi Mary, I’m in love with your pretty little house! It’s like a gigantic doll house that you can actually enter! Rain on your metal roof will make the most beautiful sound. And I have been wishing for an olive bucket for awhile now. We may be up in Maine in 2 weeks where there is a Tuesday Morning, but I’m guessing the buckets will be all gone by then. Oh, and that bench is wonderful too! Linda

  18. October 13, 2012 at 11:07 pm

I’m telling you, Mary, if you ever decide to rent that cute potting shed out, I’ll be your first tenant!!! It’s love at first sight for me.

    Mary,
I adore your Autumnal touches to the potting shed, dear friend!!! No Indian Corn to be found in our area due to this year’s drought! I’ll have to remember the trick to hanging in on the vintage rake for next year’s display!!! Love the use of natural elements, mums, pumpkins and gourds, and the kale! Gorgeous!!!
    Fondly,
    Pat
