Animal Instincts

I am following my Animal Instincts at the table,

inspired by Tiger Stripe Pumpkins and Animal Prints~

My Animal Instincts led me on a mini safari

to World Market, where I spied Giraffe-spotted

napkins in tan and in black~

And to Hobby Lobby, where I rounded up

Zebra chargers to accompany Leopard chargers

I already held in captivity~

Answering the Call of the Wild

with a nod to Halloween,

a pumpkin is masquerading in a

Pheasant feather mask~

And topped with a

Snow Leopard Witch Hat,

complete with spider~

My quilt/coverlet on the table

has an affinity for animals,

previously Udderly Charmed by Holsteins~

And animal print goblets are toasting the season

with a bounty of nuts and a leaf~

spotted, with an animal print-like camouflage~

Cheetah print flatware was sighted in a showroom

at market, rather than the Serengeti :)

I love the Safari theme, so have a good bit of animal print tableware. I do not, however, have goblets. Yours are lovely and add so much to your table. Very nice!

What a fun twist on a Halloween theme! Incorporating the animal theme into the napkins, chargers, and goblets is too cute. Just found you recently and am following along to see what you’re doing. :-) Sue

This is RIGHT up my alley, Mary! I have a touch of animal print in many rooms of my house! I DO have animal dishes, but not the flatware or goblets. They are GGRRRRRRRREAT, as Tony would say:):) This is one of my favorites of your tables. Love the witches hat and the mask on the pumpkin, so clever. Have a grrrrreat day. XO, Pinky

That pumpkin in the center with the leopard witch hat is the star of the is ball er safari. You eclipse yourself once again. Love it all.

There is always a creative adventure at your lake! Your animal instincts definitely win the most creative prize. Another 5 Star post, May. I don’t think there is anyone who has more fun when it comes to creating tablescapes. Thanks for the morning safari……..Sarah

What a charming change from regular Halloween to a Animal inspired Halloween table. Love all the different animal prints! Great look and so much fun!!!

Mary, in a million years, I would never had thought to combine the pumpkins with the animal prints. I love this whole table. It’s whimsical and so very different from anything I’ve ever seen.

You are such an inspiration and I am amazed at what you put together!!!! Thank you so much for sharing!

  15. October 24, 2012 at 2:24 pm

    Unusual but very effective combination!

I used to have a long hostess skirt made from the same quilted fabric of the ‘tablecloth’ but with grey background. It was made with lengthwise ‘strips’ of the fabric, alternating with grey velvet and creamy cotton lace and had a wide gray velvet band at the hem. I love d that skirt! ;-)

  16. October 24, 2012 at 2:52 pm

Mary, you just amaze me with your ability to combine unusual items to the best effect. Never in my life would I have thought to combine an animal theme with pumpkins. The mask on the pumpkin is too cute!

This is really super, super, SUPER!!!!!!!!!!! I love to see “outside the box” thinking like this! Just as in nature, all of the various prints just work together. That witch hat is really cool, and I just LOVE the print flatware! Your planter boxes are really overflowing and gorgeous, too! You REALLY did it up for this one, Mary! I love it!!!!!!!!!!

What a clever and fun take on Halloween! I love all the animal print and my favorite line was “At market rather than Serengeti!” Your pumpking in mask just really made the table with that stunning witch hat. Also loved the new zebra chargers; my 11 year old would love those — she is all about zebra stripes, she even has zebra-striped shoes. What a treat it was to visit you tonight. Joni

Wowsers! The animal theme is spectacular. I really enjoyed seeing the pumpkin centerpiece all decked out in her finery! The goblets, the napkins, just every little detail is exquisite.

Mary, this is soooo much fun! Love the animal theme and how you used the hat on the pumpkin! That’s perfect! BTW, they have those fab clock plates for sale at PB now, in case you won’t some in black. They are tempting me…not sure if I’ll splurge for them or not. :)

You are good! Gorgeous photos and styling, Mary.

  34. October 26, 2012 at 12:14 am

Don’t you love the new Hob Lob?? Those glasses and cheetah flatware are awesome. Love the hat, too. Thanks for the idea of the oreo brownies. I have a party to attend next week, and I couldn’t think of something easy to bring. Will have to find my witch’s boots. Do you know if the olive buckets @ Tuesday A.M. are really antique? I got the ad, when they came out and threw it away, but it seems like they are real and not re-pros. I think I want to get one, but only if they are authentic.

    • October 26, 2012 at 5:21 am

Yes, I am THRILLED about the new HL! The olive buckets at TM are vintage. The one I saw that Olive Out posted had a lovely old label on it, mine did not though.

What a novel approach to Halloween. Love it all. You have inspired me to attempt new photography techniques. Your angle shots certainly capture attention.

    Hi Mary,

This tablescape is just terrific — such a novel idea!! I love the centerpiece; it makes me laugh. :D Your goblets are so exotic and pretty and go well with the plates and flatware. I especially love the pics of your fall planters; they are gorgeous, and the crows make a great touch.

You’ve got another creative winner, Mary. Thanks for sharing and have a wonderful week!
