Bits of Fall & Blooms

I’ve been Dressing & Harvesting~

Planting bits of Fall & Blooms

in my Potting Shed!

You can take a peek at how

the outside is dressed, here.

My Ferry’s Seeds Box

is a perennial favorite~

Harvested from Metrolina Expo and used

for display in my shop years ago.

Finding its way later in a nook

in my laundry room as a planter~

Until recently transplanted in a corner of my Potting Shed~

filled with a sampling of the season. . .

mums, ornamental kale, gourds, ivy, and mini pumpkins.

The inside is cozy. . .

(translation: full & hard to photograph :)

9 feet wide inside with 2 feet of counters on one side and my grandmother’s chest gone-to-pot ~ extending 2 feet on the opposite side.

I have a 28-inch folding table and chair in the middle, that I can use and move when I need more work area.

Birds have flown in (Williamsburg Aviary)~

a gift from my sister to feather my nest.

And transferware

is Blooming~

A trip Picking Flowers, yielded a Johnson Brothers

Windsor Ware Dover teapot from a dealer closing shop~

And a vintage box and painted tole trays

provide year-round color & blossoms~

 Counters are skirted and blooming

with the summer-time charm of cottage garden~

And the remaining pieces of

my grandmother’s pattern~

Harvest Time by Johnson Brothers

have been reunited with her chest~

An Aesthetic Movement transferware pitcher

(H. Alcock Kenilworth) is sprouting grasses~

The birds on the pitcher reminded me of the resident heron that fishes in our cove~  also inspiring the shade of white for the interior walls~ Sherwin Williams White Heron.

You can read more about Aesthetic Movement

and transferware from Nancy’s Daily Dish, here.

Garden Lore, courtesy of

John Baer’s Sons Agricultural Almanac~

“Store gourds, pumpkins and squashes in a dry place at above-freezing temperature. While is storage they must not touch each other.”

I sprinkled in a watering can~

to balance the nest on my landscaping

burlap and twig window treatments~

Wishing you Happy Planting

and Harvesting this Fall Season!

I totally get the concept of “cozy space”, and I commend you for making the very best of it! Your potting shed is such a special place, and I’m glad you’re able to get so much mileage out of it! I just love all the vintage-looking pieces throughout!!! Cool photos!

  48. November 10, 2012 at 10:15 am

I’m so loving your potting shed and wish mine looked like it. Mine is very “cozy” because it’s crammed with tools, paint cans and the riding lawn mower. I keep saying I’m going to “decorate” it but how do you decorate around a riding lawn mower? :)
I’ll just look at yours and enjoy all your great ideas. LOVE your transferware,, and seed box.
