I look forward to November’s arrival and her slower pace after all the activity in October. For us the beginning of November coincides with the leaves at their peak~ unless a monster hurricane comes along and blows them off the trees. . .
The foliage and pumpkins, along with the flavors of the season slowly build to a crescendo~ culminating and peaking with a Thanksgiving.

Thinking of those who have been impacted by Hurricane Sandy and thankful to have heard updates from those who safely weathered the storm with minimal damage.
Beautiful! If I had that wonderful lake and gorgeous trees to look at everyday, I’m afraid I wouldn’t get anything *done*. But then, perhaps all needs to get done is sitting, looking, enjoying — letting the soul sing!!!!! Happy Fall!!! Here’s to Thanksgiving!
Mmmm….love your setting! I don’t know where you live but I like it! Our trees are bare here! Love that centerpiece you created! Such a great idea with the apples mixed with the flowers! Love your sentiment with the “giving thanks” We all need to do that a bit more. This hurricane certainly ruined a lot of lives.

This came at the perfect time. I am to bring a salad on Sat. so I am going to do the raosted sweet potato salad, it will be PERFECT! Your pictures, view and surroundings are magnificent. Oh, to be able to set an OUTDOOR table for Thanksgiving! AND have the trees at their peek! Glorious. Still praying for all those who had such loss due to this storm. We feel VERY fortunate. XO, Pinky

I’m glad you were spared the ravages of the storm. So many were not so lucky. I too am thankful to hear my friends in NJ, NY, PA, RI, MA and ME have weathered it fairly well with minimum damage although most lost power.

As usual, your photos are fabulous. For us in Maine, the peak is over and now the trees are baring, but I do have one more chance for a little color when I return to Houston.

Hi Mary, I am enjoying looking at your beautiful pictures as I sit here with no heat, power or water. Our foliage is gone with the winds except for a few low lying trees. We have wires and trees everywhere and lots of destruction, so I’m trying to escape through blog reading on my intermittently serviced cell phone! Think of us up here — it’s going to be 28 this weekend!! I’ll be back next week to click on all your links. Linda
I wish we still had some fall color left here! I think the drought this summer stressed our trees and the leaves dropped sooner than usual.

Mary, your photos are beautiful! I’m in Ohio/Indiana, and our leaves are long gone although we are still raking! We’ve driven past Lake Norman on our way to Hilton Head for vacation in previous years and marveled at how beautiful it is! Lucky you!

Thank you for all your kind words of support for the Hurricane Sandy victims. I have been voluteering at a temporary shelter in Brooklyn the past few days for people that lost their homes. It is wonderful to see how many people are helping and donating goods that are needed
