Rise and Shine Tablescape

DSC_0345-001

I’m at the table with a little farmhouse style inspired by

the rustic charm of Antiqued Hen by Pfaltzgraff.

DSC_0339-001

I raided the hen house aka Potting Shed :)

for the table~ in search of galvanized watering cans,

a salvaged shutter, and my most recent find~

a chicken feeder that was freshly hatched

from a local antique mall, with plans

to plant some violas in it this spring.

DSC_0393-001

I was drawn to the remnants of red paint on the feeder~

the worn patina adding a little country charm to the table.

It’s filled with excelsior to help cushion and hold eggs and

daisies as a centerpiece at the table.

DSC_0346-001

The starting point or pecking order :)

for the table was a quilt and a shutter~

which functions as a runner.

DSC_0361-001

A quilt was a natural choice to add some farmhouse style and my table covering of

choice since they multitask on beds and tables and best of all, need no ironing.

DSC_0371-001

A single embossed hen adorns the top of the Antiqued Hen Dinnerware,

bordered by a subtle vine that rims the scalloped edges of the collection~

constructed of earthenware that is microwave and dishwasher safe.

DSC_0442-001

The wire chicken basket is part of the Antiqued Hen collection~

just the right size to hold 8 inch salad plates or bowls for a buffet for your guests or flock :)

The table is set to help you Rise & Shine

with some muffins, fruit, yogurt & granola.

DSC_0370-001

Mason jars serve as glasses

next to a pitcher with juice

and Antiqued Hen Egg Cup.

DSC_0403-001

Mugs hold a 20 ounce serving of coffee or tea~

a generous size guaranteed

to help you Rise & Shine!

DSC_0448-001

A lidded half-gallon glass jar is filled with fresh fruit, a size

handy for serving family or farmhouse style~

also a convenient size for serving granola or salad.

DSC_0423-001

A creamer and sugar bowl are waiting to be filled~ the sugar bowl with your sweetener of choice or as a chicken coop to house teabags.

DSC_0445-001

A 28 ounce handled soup mug is offering up yogurt, while an 18 ounce fruit bowl is filled with granola.

DSC_0357-002

Antiqued Hen canisters hold baking staples,

freshly baked treats,

or keep your flatware

casually corralled together.

I have a big glass jar like yours – I think mine is at least a one gallon size – but its serving duty at the moment aging some pineapple vinegar I’m making…Can’t wait to taste to see how its doing…!

I love everything about your tablescape, Mary. The quilt is a perfect backdrop for the white dishes (adore the little hen atop the plates), and your flatware is magnificent. Your muffins look delicious! I have been scratching my head about where to keep my goodies, and your potting shed has provided the inspiration I need., Now, to convince Will. If he sees your hen dishes, he might be persuaded! Hope you will include this post at Foodie Friday’s 4th anniversary party!

  24. April 9, 2013 at 5:27 pm

Wow do I ever love your dishes, Mary! They are so charming. Of course, everything you do is charming :)

  25. April 9, 2013 at 6:17 pm

What cute dishes! Love the quilt as a tablecloth and all your touches are perfect as always. Now this would make me sit down and eat breakfast!
    hugs, Linda

  26. April 9, 2013 at 7:25 pm

Is that what that thing is called? A feeder?!?!? I had no idea! I just thought it was a carrier for…I don’t know…something that has to do with farms! (The city girl in me shines brightly!) It has such rustic charm. I like how it’s all chippy and just a little bit rusty…perfectly imperfect! :-)

This is a really terrific table for so many reasons. The quilt is always such a homey, inviting element, and the Pfaltzgraff dishes and accessories are just perfect! I love that little hen egg cup!!! Pulling out the red in the quilt is such a great idea for a breakfast or brunch setting since that color just jolts a person wide awake! Love that PB flatware, too….it’s a real winner! Beautiful, Mary! Have a great week!!!

  27. April 9, 2013 at 8:38 pm

I would have no trouble rising if I was greeted with a table full like that every morning!! Love how you filled the chicken feeder. So cute!!

I have a wooden chicken feeder made by probably the person who was raising the chickens. Also a galvanized well bucket for drawing the water out of the well – have drawn many gallons of water using one of these.
I really appreciate what you do = guess it is like playing all day long.

  29. April 9, 2013 at 11:08 pm

So sweet. I too would love to be greeted like that in the morning.

I keep wondering when you are going to run out of ideas. You are amazing to keep coming up with wonderful vignettes week after week.

  35. April 10, 2013 at 10:17 pm

How inviting! I would love to have someone have that delicious tablescape waiting for me to arrive at the breakfast table! What luxury! And I was oh, so tickled at the half-gallon glass container filled with fruit. So clever!

  36. April 10, 2013 at 11:53 pm

It sure wold be fun to rise and shine at your house, Mary! You set a spectacular breakfast buffet on your charming quilt. I’ve never seen the hen pattern of dishes from Pfaltzgraff. It is perfect for a morning wake up call.

  37. April 11, 2013 at 1:30 am

I think I lust after everything that you own. Those dishes are wonderful. I love the antiqued look and the hen relief at the top. I really should have concentrated more on solid, neutral colors rather than so many sets of patterned dishes, but what can I tell you? I’m weak! The flatware, I must have. MUST!

Love the farm theme. I have a country kitchen theme, which looks nothing like the kitchen of our friends, who are Mennonite farmers. What can I say?
I’ve been using quilts, flannel bedsheets, etc for a long time for unique tablecloths. I particularly love it when they’re in plaid. What style is your house, is it in a suburb or a rural address:? Just curious. I’ll be your new Canadian cousin, OK??

This darling chicken dishware has made my day! I love it and can’t wait to purchase it. This is probably one of my favorite table settings, if I can even pick one they are all lovely and so creative. The chicken plate holder and canning jars for drinks, plus the chicken feeder is s nice touch too! Love it all. I am now on the hunt for that gorgeous quilt also. I have bought several items that I have seen on your blog and so have my friends when they went shopping with me. They always want to know where I discover such great things! LOL! I do tell them about your blog and how great it is and what a wonderful decorator you are. Thanks for sharing your talent. Can’t wait to get my chicken dishes. Hugs and God bless.
