Our freeze date guideline for planting
spring & summer annuals is April 15th~
I’ve been ready for the bloom,
enjoying violas that will tolerate
cold temperatures~
Patience is not my forte
so I’m getting a jump-start
in my seed box in my Potting Shed.
Although not patient enough
to plant from seed :)

I wish my mind worked like yours, Mary! I have a stone bunny…two, even! I have pretty pitchers & even some bulbs with sprouting green tips. I have a wooden box, no where near as pretty as yours but it would work. I even have the same galvanized watering can!!!
What I don’t have is the creative genius to think of putting them all together so beautifully, like YOU did. It must be genetic.
I sure hope you don’t mind copy cats, ‘cus I’m going to try to duplicate this little vignette right down to the petals.

You are so lucky to be able to start your planting now. Our date in western pennsylvania is June first. It’s a very short growing season. I’ll have to be content to look at beautiful flowers on blogs for awhile. Love your blog!

Mary, I don’t grow many flowers from seed either except for marigolds and zinnias. They seem to pop up as soon as you put them in the ground! Always love to see what you do with that gorgeous seed box each season.
Your photos and blooms are gorgeous Mary! We always wait until “Master’s” weekend to plant, even in the deep South Mother Nature plays some nasty tricks! Now that you have such a special spot to play I can’t wait to see what’s next!

Mary, this is the next best thing for certain. I have spring here, and my garden isn’t this charming. Love this vignette. Makes me want to be a copycat and put together something like this for my sunporch. Hmmm…..I think a trip to the plant center in is my future soon. Mid-late May here. Memorial Weekend is the big run at the garden stores.
I found out that the zone I live in now is the same as New York’s, so I won’t plant outside until after Mother’s day in mid May. I have been seeding some pots inside–must have my fresh basil this summer! ;)

Mary, your potting shed may start a trend! We had one at a former house, a cobwebby thing, heaped with fertilizer and peat pots, dark and kinda spooky. lol Rattlebridge definitely needs one. I could write there! I’m enjoying your adventures and creativity so much. Looking forward to visiting the nursery. I let the gardens go last summer, due to construction but I’ve got to get it in hand. Our weather has been crazy: 80 degrees on Wednesday, rain on Thursday, cold today. I wore a wool cape when I went to Publix. Have a wonderful weekend!
