I’ve been ready for the bloom,

enjoying violas that will tolerate

 cold temperatures~

Patience is not my forte

 so I’m getting a jump-start

in my seed box in my Potting Shed.

Although not patient enough

to plant from seed :)

I wish my mind worked like yours, Mary! I have a stone bunny…two, even! I have pretty pitchers & even some bulbs with sprouting green tips. I have a wooden box, no where near as pretty as yours but it would work. I even have the same galvanized watering can!!!
What I don’t have is the creative genius to think of putting them all together so beautifully, like YOU did. It must be genetic.
I sure hope you don’t mind copy cats, ‘cus I’m going to try to duplicate this little vignette right down to the petals.
    It is DARLING!!
Thank you so much for all the inspiration that you provide.

Love this! I wish my planting date was so early! Love the whole arrangement but I especially love the bulbs in the pitcher- how cute!

I think our planting date is April 15th, too….I need to get on it. I’ve got nothing done over here….

You’re off to a great start, though! OMG your seeds planter is so dang cute! :D

Love your seed box and the ranunculus — so pretty and cute with the bunny. Is that a Johnson Bros creamer? Wonderful flowery addition. Your planting day is right around the corner … enjoy!

Thank you! Yes Johnson Brothers Sheraton :)

You are so lucky to be able to start your planting now. Our date in western pennsylvania is June first. It’s a very short growing season. I’ll have to be content to look at beautiful flowers on blogs for awhile. Love your blog!

So adorable, such a bright cheery spot by that dreary old lake you live by ;-)

Lucky you surrounded by beauty inside and out!

Mary, I don’t grow many flowers from seed either except for marigolds and zinnias. They seem to pop up as soon as you put them in the ground! Always love to see what you do with that gorgeous seed box each season.

Your photos and blooms are gorgeous Mary! We always wait until “Master’s” weekend to plant, even in the deep South Mother Nature plays some nasty tricks! Now that you have such a special spot to play I can’t wait to see what’s next!

I agree with Retta, I wish I had a 1/4 of your creativity! Here we can’t plant til after Mother’s Day. xo

This is gorgeous! I have several stone bunnies in my gardens, and few real ones hop in from time to time.
    Love your ideas!

So wonderful that you have that great garden shed to play in. As a child I always wanted a “playhouse”. If I had your shed I think I would be in it all the time!
And what a prize that seed box is…especially grand that it still has its lid!
You put everything together so beautifully .

I can’t wait to get things growing! Loved all these photos, Mary. Love the seed box!

We had an unexpected freeze last night so I will have to go out to see what the damage is. Your seed box is gorgeous!

Mary, this is the next best thing for certain. I have spring here, and my garden isn’t this charming. Love this vignette. Makes me want to be a copycat and put together something like this for my sunporch. Hmmm…..I think a trip to the plant center in is my future soon. Thanks for sharing your creative ideas with all of us. It’s fun to see how you get to play in the potting shed. Makes me long for one of my own. ‘-)

Your photos are gorgeous! But I’ll have to say that it’s the dogs who drew me in in the first place. :-)))

  19. April 11, 2013 at 2:41 pm

Mary. That is the most beautiful seed box I’ve even seen. Of course all the pretty blooms and the photos are also..It is put together like a fine masterpiece..Happy Thursday..Judy

Mid-late May here. Memorial Weekend is the big run at the garden stores.

  24. April 11, 2013 at 11:28 pm

I found out that the zone I live in now is the same as New York’s, so I won’t plant outside until after Mother’s day in mid May. I have been seeding some pots inside–must have my fresh basil this summer! ;)

Your seed box is so pretty and the close up of the ranunculus made it look like a beautiful rose!

  25. April 12, 2013 at 8:52 pm

Wow! This is just wonderful. Beautifully done. I’m in love with that seed box. It’s quite a find. The way you have it all planted is just amazing! Great pictures too. Thanks for inspiring us! Living here in the Chicago area, I may need to do this to get me through the next few weeks, as it will be a while before I plant outside. Have a nice weekend.

Mary, your potting shed may start a trend! We had one at a former house, a cobwebby thing, heaped with fertilizer and peat pots, dark and kinda spooky. lol Rattlebridge definitely needs one. I could write there! I’m enjoying your adventures and creativity so much. Looking forward to visiting the nursery. I let the gardens go last summer, due to construction but I’ve got to get it in hand. Our weather has been crazy: 80 degrees on Wednesday, rain on Thursday, cold today. I wore a wool cape when I went to Publix. Have a wonderful weekend!

Adorable! Hope you’ll come share at AMAZE ME MONDAY tomorrow!
    Blessings,

Oh my gosh Mary, what a wonderful Spring vignette! First of all, that seed box, all shabby and chippy, is the perfect place for your creativity. You decked it out so prettily with the bunny, fabulous flowers and even the darling pitcher. You sure are having fun playing in your potting shed. Happy Spring to you! xo

  29. April 14, 2013 at 10:21 am

Mary, What a beautiful and colorful way to celebrate spring. Love the box with the daffs and bunny. Everything you touch is beautiful!

This is adorable. I’ve got to go get some violas. Of course it’s supposed to snow again this weekend…but I think pots would work since I could bring them inside. You’ve also inspired me to make a seed crate…
