I’m weighing anchor and
setting sail with nautical red & blue stripes
and enamel boat dishes!
Summer usually means boating for us,
but record rainfall has kept our boat
docked with little lake time. . .
Our crew is ready for
all paws on deck
if the weather cooperates!
A galvanized metal tiered stand is holding appetizer boats, netting, and glass fishing floats for a centerpiece.
And a fleet of sailboat napkins were launched with the help of this tutorial. Small bottles of Pellegrino will quench our crew’s thirst and just happen to be the right size to fit under the napkins and prevent our boats from capsizing :)
A reversible quilt with red and white ticking is covering the deck of the table~ the aft side of the quilt used for Celebrating the Red, White, and Blue.
I hoisted scrapbook paper sails for lemon wedges and then cleared the deck to set sail with a watermelon boat. . .
A dowel and scrapbook paper/card stock make a quick sail to transform a watermelon into a vessel for serving a medley of fruit.
Shells from fresh water Asian clams left on our dock as parting gifts by resident muskrats are sprinkled alongside glass floats. We’re keeping our fingers crossed the muskrats keep clams on their menu instead of our boat hydraulics!
Caprese Stacks are topped
with basil leaf sails~
And a little balsamic glaze
keeps our stacks afloat~

Your creativity ASTOUNDS me!!!!!! I am in awe of your brain:):) The watermelon is crazy genius! LOVE the napkin boats too. I love it all. Going to try to get some pool time in today since it is supposed to RAIN tomorrow. What a wet summer this has been!
Great table with fabulous napkins! What a clever fold. I haven’t checked the video yet, but I’m guessing this stems from origami. Love the Caprese salad with basil sails.
Love, love, love it!….I just composed a tutorial post on my flower napkin fold and I have that sailboat in my book to try…Definitely doing that now as it is wonderful on your table that sails into complete and utter bliss!!…FB’ing and pinning!!! Have a wonderful day Mary!
Your tablescapes are truly delightful! Your amazing, never-ending collection of props, , your gift of creative composition, a perfect bit of whimsy, all showcased by your breathtaking photography, make me linger here…..returning often for inspiration or just a spell of aesthetic therapy.
Your lakeside creativity never ends! Love those clever napkin boats. The “anchors” beneath are a great idea. I’ll remember this tip. Perhaps the fall season will bring some lovely boating days for you and the crew. We’ve had to make our summer fun here at home, so I’m taking the opportunity to dream about leisure days in the south of France. That way we don’t have to leave Sadie behind. ;-)
i smiled as soon as i looked at the first picture!
so cute, so many fun touches, right down to the muskrat love! now that is something i never see! cute trick for no capsizing, but all paws on deck wins the cutest trick of them all~
Fun!!! It was very tempting to go ahead and get the appetizer boats through the eBay connection but had to exert all kinds of restraints!!! over $100 with shipping for 5 of them is a bit too rich for me…
The napkin fold is brilliant as is the entire table, Mary!
too many cute boats!!! Especially love the basil leaf sails!
I totally understand about the monsoon weather this summer! I cannot remember another summer quite like this one. The napkin boats are adorable and, as always, your staging and photographs are wonderful!

It is always such a delight to come see what you’ve come up with next, Mary! Where & HOW do you think of all these cute ideas?? Not to mention the creative prose to accompany these gorgeous photos. You must lay awake at night, dreaming of creating tablescapes.
May you soon have “all paws on deck” & be able to enjoy your beautiful lake with those darling poochies. Give ’em each a pat on the head from me, please?
Your lake backdrop is always wonderful to see – no matter what you put on your table ;) A wonderful marine-inspired tablescape! I had to smile at the clams :)
Your dogs are adorable and I love your place settings!! So creative!
Mary, you took the wind out of my sails with this post. And of course, I had to drop what I was doing to make a sailboat from the video. It worked!! My first napkin wasn’t stiff enough, so I grabbed a stack of the stiff ones ;o) You made me chuckle about the clams.
This is just wonderful. I love the little sails for the lemon and the watermelon boats. Thanks for inviting us for a peak. Cherry Kay
Who would not want to come to this party. Very creative.
