Freshly Picked~ A Watering Can Welcome

DSC_5308-001

I picked some blooms and a watering can

hanging from the rafters,

 to fill in welcome . . .

Despite our very wet summer,

the coleus and caladiums have survived

and the hydrangeas are loving the extra water.

No need for watering cans

except for decoration!

Yes the heat is on as a final reminder of summer. You look ready for early fall with the color palette.

Love the way you hung the watering can. No need for them here either except on the front porch.Wettest summer ever here!

Gorgeous!…..wish we could get some of your rain….My hydrangeas are starting to suffer, the poor things.

  6. August 23, 2013 at 7:41 am

Ha! You have that right-no need for watering cans except for decoration! And it makes a lovely decoration on your shed’s door!

Gosh, that’s so pretty! Just amazing…I use that same, I call it “barn red” paint…we had ours “mixed” from a bed sheet edging I luv’d. Next year I’m going to definitely use your combination of plants since our “places” are similar. franki

Just beautiful Mary. The colors are wonderful with your door and the green trim. Love the quote by Lou Erickson…it’s so true!

Hi Mary, The one nice thing about being back home is that I can explore your blog on the big screen instead of on my phone, and appreciate all the beauty of your pictures (and comment with a real keyboard). Your coleus (is it plural coleii?) are GORGEOUS!! And so is the color of that hydrangea. We are having problems with them here in the northeast this summer–too much rain after the heat wave, and then the damage from last October’s hurricane/blizzard freaky weather. Every time I see your wreath hanger I have a pang of desire, just as when I see those enamel appetizer boats from PB that you use often. Why did I pass up these things? Well, I’m off to explore your old posts and I’m sure I’ll get lost in the links, but I will be happy! Have a nice day and Nellie sends dog kisses to Chloe and Gracie. Linda

What a nice welcoming site…nothing prettier than a beautiful bouquet of natures bounty! Love how all the plants echo the colors of your door.

I turned our sprinklers on yesterday for the FIRST TIME all summer! God has done a great job of keeping the lawns & flowers watered. LOL
Now it is cooling off a bit~~sending some fall weather your way.
    Hugs,
    Rett

Mary, your arrangement makes a welcoming statement on that gorgeous door. Love the diamond panes. All the caladiums I planted in the beds have now disappeared from the heat. The ones in pots seem to do better.
I forgot to plant coleus this year. Have you tried the King Kong coleus? It’s large and gorgeous.
All looks pretty at the lake. ~ Sarah

Oh, how darling, Mary! I planted some white caladiums with white impatiens and asparagus ferns on our porch this summer. They look great because It’s been so cool this summer, but I haven’t posted them. I can’t find the time to blog much lately!

It sure doesn’t sound like you’ve needed that watering can! Hope you get some beautiful, dry summer days ahead. Love that door and of course your potting shed is my dream cottage!

So lovely! How did you anchor the plants into the mouth of the can with it tilted?

  20. August 23, 2013 at 2:09 pm

That is just adorable Mary, the colors are perfect against your potting shed, and the hanger! Flowers and greens would be great in a watering can anyway but hanging like it is pouring is so much fun! Our rain has stopped, I hope you can get some boating in this weekend!

  21. August 23, 2013 at 3:25 pm

I echo Pat, the flowers are beautiful and so is the watering can. My caladium and coleus are growing EAUTIFULLY in my pot by the door. Now all I need is a PRETY watering can:)
