Giving Thanks Tablescape: A Last Hurrah for Fall Leaves and Pumpkins

I’m Giving Thanks at a table for two, taking advantage of warm weather with temperatures in the 70s, a week before Thanksgiving.

And harvesting some foliage for a centerpiece,

enjoying the last bit of fall color. . .

Along with one last hurrah for the pumpkins before

it’s time to deck the halls with boughs of holly.

Lovin’ those fun turkey plates Mary! And the napkin tussie-mussie is a great idea for every holiday-especially Christmas! I’m ready to deck the halls:@) Enjoy that nice weather, it’s been cold here.

Your arrangement of the leaves is just fabulous-I am hoping ours hold on here down South for another week so i can do one for the serving table. We had so much rain this year it has really changed our schedule with leaf color this year. Thanks for the inspiration and Happy thanksgiving to you and yours.

Your table is just beautiful today, Mary. The centerpiece is absolutely gorgeous and I love the turkey plates and napkin cornucopias. Absolutely beautiful.

Gorgeous! I’m in love with that Lauren Home Plaid Throw…it would go so well in my sewing room of the same creme colors.
Your arrangement is spectacular & I think the little folded napkins are darling with their picot trimmed ribbons. Very sweet touch.
I’d love to have your 70º temps…they’re predicting 20’s with snow for this weekend. Ugh!

Forgot to ask where you found the brown check napkins and when. I have some spring ones from Pier ! but no fall. Thanks.

    • November 21, 2013 at 8:20 am

From Pier 1 Sandi, I think they’re still available :)

  10. November 21, 2013 at 8:47 am

Hi Mary! I’ve been all over the east coast during the last 2 weeks and I definitely prefer the warm Virginia weather we had (70s like yours!) to the snow in Maine! Your table is so inviting and those tussle-mussies are such a nice way for guests to start a meal, unwrapping a little present. Love those turkey plates and the woven chargers too. Your photos are just beautiful! Linda

    Hi Mary,
I love the soft plaid throw as your table covering and of course, the JB plates with the cute turkey plate on top. The cornucopia napkin is the best! xo

  12. November 21, 2013 at 9:01 am

And a beautiful last hurrah it is, Mary!

How beautiful! We are just now enjoying our fall color here in Dallas also. You have inspired me to make a lovely centerpiece with our leaves and berries! Have a wonderful Thanksgiving :)

  15. November 21, 2013 at 9:22 am

Love your place setting, and of course the entire setting! Another picture perfect moment in time… Love seeing our twin brains harvest nature and share the bounty of the season~

  16. November 21, 2013 at 9:53 am

Love the cornucopia napkin idea….so simple but a touch that makes a table special.

Mary, you always do table tops w/pizzazz! I like it all & especially notice the grainy grass & Indian corn. Do you remember where the napkins are from? They look a little like the spring style I got from Pier 1, but mine are in pastels. Thanksgiving Blessings!

    • November 21, 2013 at 10:41 am

Thanks Carolyn! They came from Pier1 :)

  18. November 21, 2013 at 11:35 am

You have an incredible talent for setting a beautiful table, Mary. But, what I most enjoyed was the arrangement with all the boughs of fall leaves. That is absolutely stunning. Our leaves have been down for a few weeks. I must say I’m a wee bit envious of your warm weather and colors.

Wishing you and yours an Extraordinary Thanksgiving!!

  19. November 21, 2013 at 1:14 pm

Dear Mary, Your table setting is absolutely beautiful. It sounds like a lovely day. I hope you have a very wonderful and blessed Thanksgiving. Blessings dear, Catherine xo

  20. November 21, 2013 at 2:07 pm

Stunning, as usual…love the slanted sunlight over the table setting…the fall leaves and little pumpkins arrangement is gorgeous!

  21. November 21, 2013 at 4:02 pm

I would have to sit at that glorious table all day! The last photo of the yellow leafed branches overhanging your “tower of autumn” centerpiece is just breath-taking! Thanks for having us for a visit, sure wish I could stay for a Butternut, Pumpkin and Apple Soup shooter and the Caramel Pecan Pumpkin Bread Pudding!

    LOVELY table and scenery :)

  23. November 21, 2013 at 4:42 pm

Mary, this is so beautiful! Love your fall arrangement and love the “cornucopia” napkins. I have to remember that shape, so perfect for a Thanksgiving table.
I wanted to let ya know, I drove over to the Wally World I was in just a couple of weeks ago to look at their ribbon today. Didn’t find the ribbon I wanted BUT, now they have the bird plates in. That was the pattern that had been missing when I last looked. So, if that was the one that was missing when you went today, go back in a week or so and they may have them in. :) The other three are my faves but I figured I might as well have a few birdie plates to round out the collection. Don’t I justify good?! ;)

  24. November 21, 2013 at 5:51 pm

Mary, would love to be sitting across from you at this pretty table taking in a perfect fall day lakeside. Love the cute napkin presentation and all the lovely textures of this table. Have a great weekend!

  25. November 21, 2013 at 10:29 pm

Mary, you are so creative!!! Always amazed with your creations—Happy , Safe, Glorious Thanksgiving!!!!!

  26. November 22, 2013 at 7:37 am

The table is exquisite. The arrangement of leaves on the table really bring you in. I love the tableware, everything works!!

  27. November 22, 2013 at 8:06 am

Table setting is gorgeous… You must have a huge collection…

  28. November 22, 2013 at 4:01 pm

I am so sad to see Fall slowly go….our lawn is covered with leaves, yet the trees still have the gorgeous reds and oranges….I have “fallen” in love with your tablescape…I will miss the beautiful pumpkins this year…and how creative are you to make a cornucopia out of the napkin…fantastic…and pinning!

  29. November 22, 2013 at 6:28 pm

You are so clever! I love the little cornucopias at each place setting!!!
I was up ’til 1:30 decorating for Christmas….everything but the tree!

  30. November 22, 2013 at 10:07 pm

I love this table Mary. :) Your fall leaf arrangement is gorgeous, and all your pics are so pretty. I love how the shadow of your goblet showed up on the tablecloth in several of the pictures. I like all the shades of brown that you’ve used; I think that’s so perfect for this time of the year. Your cornucopia napkin fold is perfect for Thanksgiving, and so are the turkey plates.

I can’t believe it’s almost time to decorate for Christmas; what a quick fall season this has been. Have a wonderful weekend!

    Hugs,

    Denise

Cornucopia napkin!!!! I LOVE IT!!!!! What a gorgeous table, Mary! That leaf/pumpkin arrangement is magnificent!!! My goodness…what a gorgeous sight to behold! I love your layered table coverings, too…what better way to convey the cool air than to layer on like we do for our bodies this time of year?

I wish you a very happy and loving Thanksgiving week!

Mary, this is such a beautiful table! Your taste always appeals to me. The setting is gorgeous. This is a table at which to linger. Happy Thanksgiving! (P.S. I have been searching and searching for brown gingham napkins. I sure Pier One still had the ones you have!)
