I love your tablescapes! And especially this one. I love the use of the German glass ornament birds as I actually collect them. I have the outside done of the house done with lights and pine garlands and wreaths and start working on the inside to decorate and put my tree up today! I do a Victorian themed tree. I grew up with older European friends who, when I was a kid, actually still used real candles to light their tree! :>0

Love it all! I am almost finished decking the halls of my cozy cottage…but I keep seeing dandy ideas from you :) Keep them coming!…if not this year then maybe next….

The dishes are beautiful Mary, lovin’ the great vintage card graphics too! Wish the gift shopping came as easily as the decorating:@)

Love these dishes. So pretty with the bird ornaments!! I love birds! Your tablescapes are always so beautiful and I’ve taken some of your ideas and put them to use around my home. Also your recipes are becoming standards around here………the lemon blueberry cheesecake this past summer made my crowd very happy!!!!! All my decorating is done, but I started pretty early. The only thing left to do is to buy a couple of fresh wreaths to give the house a real Christmas scent and feel. Nothing like the smell of a fresh tree in the house!

  5. December 4, 2013 at 5:54 am

Very pretty and I love the birds. I am in the middle of decorating but the tree is up and looks pretty. Hopefully I can get outside and cut some evergreen for the wonderful smell and a little more decorating.

Once again a beautiful table! Love the bird theme it goes so well with the dishes. I am still decorating. This year it is going rather slow. The outside is almost finished. The carrying of boxes is killing me. I am kind of doing it alone. Need help to get the 14 ft tree up and that takes a lot of climbing. Have a wonderful Christmas time!

  7. December 4, 2013 at 6:04 am

Oh, my goodness you are the most gifted lady I know! Your tablescapes are beautiful! We are still decorating our home…hope to get the tree up today!

I was determined this year to have all my decorating done by Thanksgiving as lots of entertaining planned for December. On Thanksgiving Day, I fell from a ladder as I was putting up window decorations. Have now had to cancel our first lot of visitors as I am recovering from a painful broken rib:(
    Ahhhh, the best laid plans…
Thoroughly enjoy your blogs. I wanted to do a “bird” theme this year so really liked your tablescape! Keep the ideas coming.

I love the dishes and I am almost finished decorating, but everytime I think I am I find another decoration that just must be used!!

  28. December 4, 2013 at 7:36 am

Oh, boy! What fun! I need more dishes like I need a hole in the head, but I can’t resist! I’ve been feathering — two trees up and decorated — but I seem to have a lot of ornaments left over! Another tree? Or more ornaments on each tree! I follow etc etc etc … and am getting ready to share this post on FB. Ho Ho Ho and a Happy Happy!

  29. Andrea Campbell
    December 4, 2013 at 7:36 am

I love this pattern — and all the things you present in this beautiful blog. I have started decorating. The tree is up, but much more remains to be done.
I shared this on my Facebook page.

  30. December 4, 2013 at 7:42 am

I love how you’ve feathered your nest Mary, the bird ornaments are so pretty and they look so happy nesting in the holly berries! This whole table makes me smile, full of things you love, brought together in a vintage Christmas way~the delicate holly runners are so perfect with it all! I am slowly getting my nest feathered, hope to get our tree up this weekend. Christmas is approaching at an alarming speed!

I’m almost finished decorating (haha). I was going to keep it simple this year so maybe my adult children wouldn’t have as many decorations to count (it’s become a tradition) but I seem to think of something else daily. With my name being Robyn I naturally love this tablescape. My dining room table is always a chore for me but maybe with this china some pine needles and birds …..

  32. Cheryl
    December 4, 2013 at 7:47 am

Ahhhh, as usual, your tablescape is so beautiful and festive. I actually finished decorating my home before Thanksgiving. Just need to now put up the tree. I felt I needed to give Thanksgiving its due, so I’ve waited on the tree. I love your bird ornaments. I’ve always wanted to do a tabletop tree with a bird theme.

The outside wreaths are all up ~ the tree is up but no ornaments yet! BTW…love the vintage Christmas cards (wish I had saved some from my childhood)

  36. December 4, 2013 at 8:02 am

Mary, your table is beautiful. I love the MIkasa dishes and the darling bird ornaments are set off in the bowl. Such a good size bowl. Linens, greeting cards and birdhouse centerpiece delight as only you can as a tablescaper!

I wish I could say I was finished feathering my nest but I am just beginning.

Beautiful table, and wonderful bird ornaments! That Cardinal is calling my name. Alas, I have yet to start decorating. I like to have a breather after Thanksgiving, but it was so late this year that I feel like I’m behind already.

    December 4, 2013 at 8:47 am

I’m half way done- I started but didn’t have time to finish yet. I hope to get the rest done early this weekend. Our tree is up and that always sets the mood for Christmas for me. Also, we just got a new kitten (14 weeks old right now) and so it is not only taking me longer because she is into EVERYTHING but also I have to hold back on some decorations that might not be safe for her or find high places she can’t get to them. On the bright side, it has helping me come up with new ideas for displaying old items. (I am a subscriber and love your blog.)

Unfortunately, I have never purchased dishes for Christmas. These would be delightful! I follow you by email and on facebook. Have a wonderful Holiday. Love your blog!

I have not done any decorating as i had surgery th week before Thanksgiving requiring 8 wks of recovery. So i will miss both holidays in the traditional way. I love looking at everyone else’s decorations though and am more than content with that.

My decorating is done. We always have a marathon decorating weekend starting the Friday after Thanksgiving. Lots of work, but also fun. I always so enjoy your blog. Your tablescapes and recipes never cease to amaze me. Love the antique white holiday berry set. Would love to set the Christmas table with it.

I am an email subscriber and look forward to every beautiful post. :-) am thinking perhaps you will be revamping your storage system following the holidays with the new additions and hoping you will share your clever ideas! This summer we repurposed our home and downsized by 2 rooms in order to create an apartment for a family member. we also inherited my mother in law’s china & silver this fall with her unexpected passing. so i am scratching my head over where to store it all!

Ouch! A tree fell on our house around a month ago, while the owner was cutting it down! My living room is full, and I mean full of all the stuff that was in the one room that got crushed! Thankful it was only one room! But I have nowhere to put anything! They are almost done rebuilding, so I have been making space in our shed and moving things out instead of in. But all my Yule decorations are inn the shed! Ugh! Is anybody feeling me? Perhaps I’m just mad in the mind at this point!

Love your tablescaping blog and always look forward to each new post. The bird ornaments are beautiful. I’m working really hard to finish my Christmas decorating as I am hosting a long-time family tradition of caroling with my first cousins that my parents started in the 50’s. Merry Christmas to you and your family

I spent the past weekend going through all of my Christmas decorations; keeping some, setting some aside for my adult children, and “gifting” some to a worthy cause. It became a good way to get into the holiday spirit because so many of the ornaments were associated with such fond memories of the past. I found three little bells that hung on our tree when I was a child and some ornaments that my sister did in needlepoint. I would love to start a new holiday tradition with the beautiful china; I have long been a fan of holiday dishes!

Aww such a pretty table you’ve shared, Mary. I’m loving the pretty white runner and the plaid napkins you’ve paired with the pretty dishes. Right now, I’m watching the birdies at my feeder enjoying the seed that I’ve put out there for them. Thanks always for the beauty that you share. xxoo

I haven’t even started decorating yet…We’re trying to get the gifts being shipped to the mainland all wrapped and mailed today…then I can start thinking about decking the halls!

Facing eye surgery on Monday, so my hall decking efforts will not be elaborate…Fresh greenery, lanterns & candles will have to suffice until sometime later when I can think of a tree.

You probably do not have time for silly questions like this, but I just have to ask . . . . .where in the world do you have room to store all the beautiful dinnerware, glassware, quilts, etc that you use in your posts that I so look forward to every day when I turn on my computer. ~m

  137. December 4, 2013 at 2:12 pm

Well.. i’ve hauled all the tubs of decorations up from storage but haven’t had time to do more than open a couple and peek inside. Unfortunately, I ended up with a cold right at Thanksgiving and it really slowed me down. My goal is to finish packing up the fall decor today and get started on my first Christmas tablescape.
These dishes are lovely and I especially love the antique postcard.

  138. December 4, 2013 at 2:21 pm

Thank you for your inspiration! What a beautiful table setting for holiday luncheons or dinners. I would love to start collecting a setting of various holiday china and devote more attention to creating beautiful tablescapes for special occasions. I have my kitchen table and dining room table decorated, my rustic/Native American Christmas tree is up all year, and I have been burning a sugar pine fragrance in my Scentsy. I’ll add some other touches to the house and hubby will decorate the outdoors. Like you, I decorate both my tables for seasons and holidays. It makes me feel so good to change them. The dishes you are using are so beautiful and classic. I also decorate with birds. I have winter, summer, and spring birds. My winter birds have little sock caps on. Shared on Facebook, Pinned…. Great use of the bird ornaments….I might have to steal that idea for my table this year!!! We had a whirl-wind Thanksgiving – actually celebrated at my home twice – so I did not get to start decorating that weekend for Christmas. I hope to get my trees up this weekend and my home decorated tomorrow (so that my 1yr old Granddaughter will be surprised when she comes of Friday while her mommy works!! Her Christmas tree is all decorated and up!!)
I love the feel of your blog…so glad I discovered it!!

I don’t start until the end of the first week of December and don’t start dismantling until after the first week of January. I’m a traditionalist, I love to take my time and savor the season. I love your blog and your beautiful pictures bring me so much joy. I just posted your blog on Facebook . Christmas time is always my favorite as I love to decorate. You and I have so much in common. We live on a lake in Texas, have 2 white Westie mixes who love the lake and boat as your two do. I shop Homegoods, TJMaxx, Marshall’s and Pier One. I’ve even done luncheon’s from Dollar Tree. My Mother just passed away November 18th and I am having a hard time getting in the holiday spirit. For now I’m having a great time reading and seeing what others have done. I am a minimalist these days. With a three year old pocket beagle who knows no bounds and a nineteen year old feline diva, I have to protect some of the things I treasure most. The china is simply lovely, literally. I don’t have Christmas china so I think I should win this set. Happy decorating and Merry Christmas to ALL!!

Another beautiful and personable tablescape. Your tables always look so inviting. I decorated our outdoors last week… hung the wreaths in windows and created a new wreath for the front door after seeing lots of inspiration on your blog. I would love to win such a beautiful set for my or my daughter’s table. Going to follow you and post on facebook now.

We had a wonderful day, my decorating is done (but that was the purpose; get it done early and enjoy the rest of the holiday). Your tablescapes are always lovely. Love the dishes and I hope I win.

First of all, I absolutely love Christmas! I love decorating my home and enjoy spending time with my family. This place setting reminds me of my parent’s Christmas china. I have yet to find a set like it. This year will be the first Christmas celebrated in my first home and I would love, love, love to share a meal with loved ones using this set. It’s the season for giving and I appreciate your willingness to give to us. Merry Christmas to you!

That dinnerware is beautiful! I live in Florida and with temps still in the 80s, it’s kind of hard to get in to the Christmas spirit. However, last night I did put up and decorate my tree and today I decorated the sad little bush in my front yard. It really does look better! Your site is an inspiration and I always look forward to your posts. Cheers!

How can I ever be “finished” feathering my nest with you for inspiration? Christmas morning I bet I’ll still be adding special touches your beautiful pictures lead me to create. My husband even encouraged me to empty Walmart’s shelves of the plates with the winter bunny and tree. I keep having to move my place settings to complete Christmas crafts on the dining room table. Thank you Mary for helping me make my home special for family and friends.

I would so love to win this. Looking at your blog today has inspired me to get my butt in gear today – that and the snow we are having. It finally feels like Christmas. I am only putting up a small tree this year because we are not hosting the holidays at our house and I want to keep things simple.
I have been busy this morning decorating my kitchen because of your inspiration! Now all I need is this set of dishes and I will be complete! I am going downstairs right now to get out the little tree to put on the table in an antique Johnson Bros. ironstone soup toreen for the tree holder. I will be using colorful ornaments and a plaid holiday cloth. I have a bunny also and never thought of using him on the table display. I am also going to add a mini greenhouse and put fake snow and little bottle brush trees inside. I saw that on another blog and it was so cute.

I sure hope to win these dishes to complete the look.

My nest is feathered with help from you, I collect vintage post cards also and never thought to use them in my tablescapes. Now I have them on both of my Christmas tables ready for guests to enjoy, thank you!

Your blog is always filled with beautiful photography and inspiring home ideas. Our home is decorated and ready for the joyous day but today I was motivated to fill the window box outside the kitchen window with fresh greens and plaid ribbon and now we have a pretty view from the morning table!
    Thank you….Terri

I just can’t seem to get things done this year. I am working to get everything done before Christmas arrives!! I am enjoying the beauty of the season -trying not to let what I have not done overwhelm me or take away from the true meaning of Christmas. I am enjoying looking at your blog and others, seeing the sights, and hearing the sounds of Christmas remind me of the reason for the season.
You always make everything look so lovely – your table settings, flowers and plants – are so welcoming. I think the china would be so nice to have for the Christmas holidays – love the pattern – I use lots of red in my kitchen and breakfast room.
I enjoy seeing what you share each time!
Thank you for sharing with us. Merry Christmas!!

I haven’t even started decorating! We were in the midst of a remodel (redoing sheetrock, painting, and replacing floors) so there is literally NOWHERE to put a tree and decor! Kind of makes it hard to get in the Christmas spirit for me! Thanks for the chance to win! :)

I really want to win – I am still feathering my nest for Xmas! Almost done but never completely. I still keep gathering up new things – mostly free or Goodwill nick nacs to add. My porch looks a lot like your porch with wreath, garland, etc. and cedar shingle siding!
