In a large mixing bowl, combine applesauce, egg, peanut butter, vanilla & water.
In a second bowl, combine dry ingredients and peanuts.
Add dry to wet ingredients and mix well. (I used the food processor to pulse everything together since the 5 cups of dry ingredients makes this challenging to mix.)
Turn dough onto floured surface and knead. Roll out to ¼ inch thick and cut into shapes. Reroll scraps and repeat.
Place on parchment or greased cookie sheet and bake. The original recipe calls for 45 minutes of baking time, mine were done closer to 25 minutes. Watch and remove when slightly browned. Cool on a rack and store in sealed container or wrap in Reindog Treat bags.
You can find a printable recipe for hungry Reindogs here.
Cutest fur babies ever! Love the delicious and healthy treats. My dog would love those too. He is on a special allergy diet and these would be perfect. He is very spoiled too and is 14 yrs. old. He is still our baby and acts like it. He looks like 7 yrs old ! He hates jackets( all of a sudden) but loves bling collars. Thanks for sharing your cookies and your little reindeers.
Looks like The Girls had a great Christmas Mary! So cute with their antlers and sweaters! Your doggy treats look like they roll out easier and are nicer to work with than some cookie recipes I’ve tried:@)
Merry Christmas Mary! Chloe and Gracie must have been very good girls this year for Santa to bring them such yummies! Nellie was thrilled to find a new box of Trader Joe’s dog biscuits, a new candy cane striped tennis ball, a new collar (purple cheetah!) and a new stuffed hedgehog in her stocking. She sends her holiday greetings to your furry girls! Linda
so adorable, one can tell they had a heck of a fun holiday! such a good mama to bake for them even, i didn’t even make scotts favorite cookies, i sure as heck won’t tell him you bake for your girls! again we are twins cross country, forcing our girls into reindogs, tis the season! so many adorable shots, i was not so lucky…
Yes, this officially the cutest thing I HAVE EVER SEEN! Your dogs are over the top adorable anyway, but decked out it their holiday antlers and sweaters they steal hearts away! So So So Much Fun!! The treats sound good enough for 2 legged species too!

Mary, Chloe and Gracie are adorable in every photo I’ve ever seen of them, but especially so in those Christmas sweaters. Too cute!
Glad you and the girls are enjoying the holidays. Looks like lots of fun.

Happy New Year to you and the girls ~ Sarah and Sadie
It looks like your pups got all spruced up for Christmas, and I know they loved their treats. I had to check and see if your Three Dog Bakery was the same as in Rockport. It’s not but the cafe there is named for the owners 3 dogs and there are always homemade treats there.
I have never seen Chloe and Gracie looking finer! How adorable they are with their antlers and sweaters! Lucy would never allow something like that on her head. We were lucky to get a Christmas collar on her! Maybe if I made some of those treats she’d be more cooperative like your babies!
~Mary~
mY GOSH the pups are so darn cute !! How old are they? I always thought that Bichons were bigger. Our Boxer sure would love those treats!!

Mary, your “girls” are so precious, they look just like plush toys!! I love their sweaters and all the other plaid you’ve used in this post. Hoorah for plaid! The reindeer antlers are perfect, and the reindog treats look great!
I know how much you enjoy your dear doggies; I was thinking the other day that this is the first Christmas in 24 years that Hal and I have been without a dog. I hope we’ll have another Scottie by next Christmas.
