Moving Day for the Potting Shed

We had an unexpected move at the end of October, required by a local ordinance to set my Potting Shed 50 feet back from the water.

My photos have been waiting in the wings with the holidays stacked up, and with the fact that I prefer to share photos of something pretty or delicious, and this is neither.

While I was wringing my hands in anticipation &

preparation, I’m happy to say *she’s* no worse for wear.

*If you have a floral cafe curtains skirting your

 work benches and storage, you are a ‘she’ :)

Moving her was a relatively quick and easy job for a 70 ton

Link-belt hydraulic crane and veteran crane operator.

The crane operator estimated she weighs in at

about 4 tons.

Digging and setting new footers and

unloading her was the biggest chore. . .

Everything hanging from the rafters

 came down in advance of the move. . .

And she was emptied. . .

With braces screwed

in as a precaution.

{insert *wince* here}

In hindsight it was fascinating to watch, if you

  aren’t feeling queasy and biting your nails :)

A few tree branches got a good clip but

 otherwise the move was uneventful.

Landscaping is on the agenda for the spring and fall, with planting in full sun where she is now, as opposed to the shade~ under the trees where she sat before.

On the bright side, I have access to the window side now to plant or use for seating, where it faces my field of dreams. There’s also room off the back now for larger steps and small deck area.

I hope she’s going to be happy next to field

and bloom where she is planted!
