I’m ready for the Bloom,
and joining
All Things Home Tours Swing into Spring!
I’m thrilled to be joining Suzy at Worthing Court and
Yvonne at StoneGable for some spring vignettes,
sharing blooms in my Potting Shed.
My Potting Shed had a move in October,
and I’m happy to report she made it
safely to her new, sunny location.
Along with the arrival of spring and the daffodils,
I’m ready to break in a new pair of gardening gloves . . .
. . .to get her ready to bloom
where she is planted!
Starting first on the inside
until we’re past our
freeze/frost date of April 15th.
To step into spring, I planted wellies
with hydrangeas, alstroemeria, and
tulips for some blooming inspiration.
And cut some camellias to bring inside to
fill an assortment of vintage cups & creamers.
The Burgess Flower Book for Children
is weighing in on floral inspiration. . .
And stamped flatware offers sentiments
and words of encouragement :)
A Staffordshire Bouquet, picked at a favorite antique mall
rather than nursery, is blooming in a
vintage Reliable Seeds Box.
Convenient for year round dish gardening
and to Keep Calm and Garden On :)
And my Hatherley Lattistep is
blooming with some gardening inspiration
and a crop of reproduction seed cards.
Branches from a pear tree are
flowering in a watering can. . .
And a creamer is serving up
additional camellia blooms.

This is beautiful and makes me want spring soon! NO snow….I live in Winston-Salem and they are expecting nice temps thru the weekend and snow next week…will it ever leave??
Anyway, my question is about the pewter? cream and sugar set on the mantel. Is this a family heirloom? I have a set very similar from my Grandmother and have always wanted to know the date.

Hi Marilyn, The collection of sugars and creamers are odds and ends I picked up at a consignment store and antique mall. They were around $5 a piece, they’re dented and scratched but I liked the flower etchings and left them unpolished. They’re marked ‘triple plate’ and I can’t make out the other words stamped on the bottom under the tarnish :)

Oh, my, what a gardener’s delight….so many wonderful collections and camellias. My double, deep red ones are in bloom right now, too! Your collection of Staffordshire looks great inside when I posted about them last fall. I will be looking forward to seeing more of your spring creations.

Bloom Where You Are Planted is a personal favorite saying with me. When I lived in Alaska, I missed home. I was part of a welcoming group to new wives and we used that as our theme. It was a reminder to look for the good in new places and get busy growing.
Your blooms in your lovely collection of watering cans are full of the promise of spring and bring delight. Your vintage boxes, trays, seed packets, flower frogs, books and vases add so much charm and warm my heart.

Mary, it is always delightful to take a trip out to your garden shed! We are very hesitant about planting anything else due to the expected cold next week. I think I have a salt and pepper set to go with your Staffordshire china.
Ahhh my favorite potting shed looks perfect blooming from within, Mary. The blooming wellies add a special touch and I love the camellias gracing the shelf nestled in the pretty pitchers. The “Bloom” sign above the door and the chalkboard sign set the stage. Thanks for sharing your magic with us, Mary.

oh Mary, your potting shed is indeed in FULL bloom! I just love how you’ve tucked those gorgeous camellia blooms everywhere~and your photos make your potting shed seem like it’s as big as a greenhouse! All your vintage touches make everything feel so comforting and like stepping into the pages of a good book, it just takes you away!

I love Thorton W Burgess books especially his animal books, I read them all when I was a child in country school. I know that through his books he fostered my love of taking care of the animals no matter if they were farm or wild. Your vignettes are always so interesting, thanks for sharing with us.

Making me homesick for a North Carolina Spring!
Hi Mary, Our snow is melting and today I saw tiny green tips of daffodils peeking through the mud! Planting day here is traditionally Mother’s Day ~ frost is possible until just before that date. I can’t wait to see your outdoor plantings in your shed’s new location! Your camellias are gorgeous and I’m wondering if the pear blossoms have a scent. Flowering trees are one of the truly glorious parts of Spring! Linda

This is absolutely stunning!! I simply cannot WAIT for Spring! We are still having snow here in NY, but I am very happy to report that we will be heading south for the next month…cannot wait to experience flowers and warmth and sun!! Happy Spring Mary!
