We were invited to Charleston, SC for a weekend of food & fun with friends a couple of weekends ago.
We enjoying a visit there a couple of times a year since it’s a short drive. We park the car once we arrive, walking to our destinations and dinner, hopefully walking off a few calories we consume too :)
No matter how many times I visit, I always enjoying strolling with my camera in the early morning tourist-free hours :) peeking through the wrought iron gates to admire the stately homes and occasionally getting a glimpse of a garden.
I’m sharing some beautiful spring weather and South Carolina sunshine today and I hope you enjoy strolling with me, along East Bay Street to The Battery and ending with Rainbow Row. Enjoy!

Cette maison est très belle et très bien décorée avec la fontaine et l’ange patinés par le temps, les fer forgés et une verdure avec des fleurs sublimes.
Merci de ce beau partage.

Mary, the pictures are wonderful. Your ability to see and capture the smallest details that show the beauty in things is a gift. I have yet to visit Charleston, but it is on the top of my list. Wish I could have joined you on that lovely morning walk.
I have a Nikon D60, the spring morning light makes all photos look better! The day I took the photos the high was in the low 70s and beautiful but the day before it was in the 40s and pouring rain.
Your have quite an eye for photography Mary. Velia said it, you have an incredible ability to capture the details. Thank you so much for taking us along with you. Every time I think of Charleston, I think of my great-great grandparents who arrived in Charleston Harbour from England in the early eighteen hundreds on route as pioneers in their journey to the Arkansas Territory.

I really enjoyed seeing your photos of Charleston. I admire your good eye and photo composition. What camera type are you using? This tour has helped to make me end my hibernation. The weather was lovely and warm when you were there? I live in Toronto, Canada and this morning the temp is -15 degrees here. Brrr…
Charleston is my very favorite city, and haven’t been there in a long time~I really enjoyed strolling and peaking with you on that sunny spring day as we awoke to a rainy Sunday~good for spring flowers but dampening our plans for the day. I am so glad I got out for a brisk calorie burning walk through the historical streets of charming Charleston!

Beautiful shots, Mary! I was there many years ago. My friend, The General as we call him :), graduated from The Citadel, and got married in Charleston the next year. I must say, their weddings are quite different than NY weddings. We were Srs. in college and thought it would be a reception like we have here, dinner, dancing etc. An hour of cheese , crackers and punch, lol, we were so bummed! Have a great Sunday, cold here.
Hi Mary, our car is being repaired in Charleston, wish I had known you would be there but we are in Fl. now…..waiting. They said it would be 2 weeks AFTER they get the parts so we are STUCK. Trying to be positive nd have a good time but my heart just isn’t in it right now.
Thank you for sharing your spring morning stroll through my most favorite city in the States…We used to live about 80 miles from Charleston and visited often. Your photos are always wonderful!
We were there right after Christmas — it’s our “dream” to retire there one day. You’re pictures are stunning…..I’m sure that the talent is yours, but if you don’t mind my asking……what kind of camera do you use?
Mary, thanks for taking me along on your morning stroll. When we lived in Mt. Pleasant, we would often go to downtown Charleston on Sunday mornings and walk around. I’ll never tire of peeking into the beautiful courtyards. Love the photo where you captured the shadow of the palmetto tree on the uuilding!
Mary, it’s been a few years since I visited Charleston. Thank you for taking us along on your stroll. I hope to return to Charleston again soon. It’s such a beautiful city with wonderful gardens and architecture.
Lovely photos. I enjoyed your spring stroll and would love to go when Charleston has its garden tours. We were there in the fall and it was not a good day for photos.
Gorgeous photos of Charleston. We haven’t been in years, Wish we lived a little closer. Love the photos of the wrought iron gates, and the one of the clipped boxwood. Thanks for taking us along on your visit.
I adore Charleston…I’ve only been there once & really want to go back…SOON! My kid & her kidlets are all there right now. Color me green with envy.
Your photos are a tantalizing taste of all the pretty stuff they are experiencing at the moment. I hope it is warm there for them, too. We have more friggin’ snow in the forecast. Ugh!
I enjoyed this glimpse of Spring, which can’t come to Ohio soon enough this year.
Mary, Both the city and your photos are beyond beautiful! I was in Charleston only once, just out of college and too young to appreciate it. I keep planning a return trip which always falls through, but I must go back. The wrought iron is fascinating, especially the gates with the heart motif and the juliet balconies. Just gorgeous! Thanks for taking us on this morning stroll. Linda
No wonder Ramon has always wanted to live in South Carolina!!! I have only been there once for a fleeting moment, and I was captured by all the natural beauty as well as the man-made. What gorgeous buildings! I love all the wrought iron and brick!!! If Ramon would guarantee me that we would live in a fabulous home like some of the ones you showcased here (especially the one with that gorgeous porch upstairs and down!!!), I’d pack my bags so fast it would make your head spin!!!
Thanks for sharing this! On a grey, cold day like today, this really lifts my spirits!
I am lucky to live here in Charleston but it is always nice to see the city thru another person. I love the photo with the palmetto tree shadow on the house.
I too love strolling the streets of Charleston and peeking through the gorgeous gates into the exquisite gardens….One day, I would love to build a smaller home with a Charleston courtyard and a beautiful gate. Charleston is one of my very favorite places to be!!!
delightful strolling with your and camera in hand, so many fabulously artistic shots. ok, did you watch that tacky show yet, next time I want you to find all their houses to share!
