I’m joining The Novel Bakers for Garden Week.
One of my assignments :) for garden week was to visit and share a public garden and I’m so glad I did. Daniel Stowe Botanical Garden is about an hour drive from me and well worth the visit if you’re in the area!

Daniel Stowe Botanical Garden,
the Carolinas’ Garden for All Seasons
is located in Belmont, NC,
within 380 acres on the banks of Lake Wylie. . .
. . .With spectacular gardens, sparkling fountains,
a conservatory dedicated to the display of tropical
plants and orchids, a visitor pavilion, gift shop
and nature walk.
HGTV named it one of the nation’s “20 Great Gardens” and USA TODAY says the Garden is one of the nation’s best places to “welcome fall with a flourish.”
I’m looking forward to another visit in the fall and early summer to see what’s in bloom. From Thanksgiving to end of December is DSBG’s busiest time of year to view the holiday light display.
In 1991, retired Belmont, North Carolina, textile executive Daniel Jonathan Stowe bestowed a gift destined to provide beauty and joy to future generations. With the vision of a botanical garden to rival the world’s best, Stowe set aside nearly 400 acres of prime rolling meadows, woodland and lakefront property.
The Board of Directors of Daniel Stowe Botanical Garden approved a master plan for the garden in 1994. In 1999, the Visitor Pavilion, Formal Display Gardens and Perennial Gardens opened. Future development will be completed through public and private support over the next several decades. I visited the gardens on a weekday in mid May. The gardens were abuzz with activity with 4 school buses of children visiting. I fear the poor birds in the aviary may never recover or maybe they’re immune by now :)

We visited the Garden when my daughter and husband moved to Charlotte 11 years ago. Thank you for sharing because now we will be sure to go this fall during our visit.

i just have to say when i scroll down i make comments as i go, while its fresh in my mind, in this case i did not, i refused to stop and type, i so love the garden i think the walk should flow unimpeded… you may be missing the finer points i share of general oohs and ahhs, but the GRAND scope of your tour was MAGNIFICENT!

As you have done with your Charleston posts, I love the way you can capture a place by choosing photos with the important little details that give it such character~these gardens are stunning, with all the fun and funky places to sit, an arbor of water and sculptures of flying fish! That aviary is fabulous! I do feel like I’ve experienced it myself!

What a beautiful place. Thanks so much for the tour and I look forward to more! We are SO fortunate to have Longwood gardens 15 minutes from us. We are members so can go as often as we want. It is beautiful all year long too.

Mary, This looks like a wonderful spot to spend some time (maybe without the school groups!:)) and we love to visit gardens. I’m putting it on the list we have been compiling for the days when we can travel without deadlines. Wouldn’t you love one of those twin chairs with the table joining them? So cozy.
