Love your garden door vignette!! So beautiful. The whole world could be a more beautiful place if everyone nurtured the seeds they sow. You have such a talent for spreading that beautiful side of life. Thank you!!
We just arrived in Maine, and my first visit was to my favorite nursery where there is such an abundance of blooming things. Now, if the weather would clear so I could get them in the dirt!
Your potted flowers are looking gorgeous, Mary! I love the blue/purple combinations. Your chalkboard skills are excellent! It is so difficult to create a neat and pretty board, but you definitely have the knack and that sentiment is a good one to contemplate in so many aspects of life!! Linda
Hi Mary, Could you please tell me the name of the bright blue flower in the pot sitting on the stone behind the watering can? It’s just gorgeous………. I love it with the purple flowers and since I love purple petunias I would love to try this combination myself. Thanks in advance. Lovely, Mary! You and ML did such a good job on the gardening series.
Every year I plant lobelia, and every year they suddenly die when it gets hot. I read on line they don’t do well in temps above 80. I also read there is a new variety that is heat tolerant, but I haven’t found it yet at the flower farms here. How do yours do when it gets very hot? Have you tried the diamond frost yet, it is light and airy and would look great in your pots, and very heat tolerant. I love that it propagates easily, you can rip pieces from it and stick it in other pots. Have a wonderful weekend, Mary, enjoy the fruits of your labor. I fininshed planting 15 flats, I need about 10 more to complete the job. Never too many flowers.
Thanks so much for the link and update Kathleen. It’s in the 90’s for the next week so my Lobelia will perish (just like me :) I need to find the heat tolerant variety.
Oh Mary, love the saying on the chalkboard – looks great. Thanks so much for the DIY on seed packets. I plant a lot of perennials so always have so many seeds. That would make a great gift to a gardening friend .
Have a great weekend.

The view into your potting shed is magical, and so are your flowers, pots, and chalkboard. In between showers today, I planted flowers in Bandwidth and Will’s scary potager (think Squidbillies meets Attack of the Killer Tomatoes, with a little Hoarders thrown in). Thank you so much for the shout-out. It made my day!
Your chalkboard art looks fabulous Mary! [ I am still waiting for you to try the chalk pens :) ] I just love how you hung the watering can and the garden shears on the door! Michael Lee’s post about being a writer was so insightful, and I know you can relate…the best days are those that we can happily create to our hearts content without interruption. You have style your potting shed in a magical way yet again, just the little peak inside leaves me longing for more!

I visited earlier, then got side tracked chasing links to heat tolerant plants. I’m still trying to find the new impatient that is heat tolerant. …………any…..I’m back to say it’s always, always fun the “shed”. I’m heading to the garden center tomorrow. I have a few more pots that need updating for the summer. Thanks for continued garden inspiration, Mary!
I always love my visit to your potting shed, Mary. What a lovely quote from Michael Lee that you’ve highlighted on your chalk board. You’re both inspirational in my book! xo
Wow, this is just lovely! The chalkboard message is beautiful, and the flowers, pots and vignette is gorgeous! I would love to see this in person…I’ll bet it smells great too :)
Your chalkboard looks so pretty, Mary, and all your potted flowers are just GORGEOUS!! I have been potting and planting, too; it’s so rewarding isn’t it? I like your seed packet idea and will have to keep that in mind for future events. Thanks for sharing and your pictures are always a delight to look at. Visiting from Inspire Me Tuesday — have a great week!
