National Flag Week: Long May She Wave!

DSC_0155-002

This week is National Flag Week with June 14th,

Flag Day, commemorating the adoption of the flag

of the United States, paying tribute to the banner

that weaves us together and waves above us all.

Americans are encouraged to observe Flag Day and National Flag Week by displaying the flag,
so I’m waving the flag from the archives :)

I always love to see red, white and blue Mary! Everything looks beautiful and very festive! Long may she wave indeed:@)

This just couldn’t possibly be any prettier! The first shot is such an inspiration for me for what I’d like on my porch. (Of course, since I don’t have anything even remotely close to that bench in my possession, mine doesn’t look anything like it. Sigh.

Oh Mary, your red, white, and blue tributes are fabulous!! You really do create the most amazing vignettes — feasts for the eye. :) Thanks for the reminder; I’m going to put my flag out now. I look forward to reading these posts from your archives.

    Have a wonderful week!

Again you just blow me away. I tell everyone there is NO one with your eye, fingers, and camera. Wonderful. So very proud to be an American!

Mary, your patriotic post is the best! I downloaded my Flag Day photos last night and hope to post later today. Thanks for sharing your links from your archives. I’m off to revisit each one. LONG MAY SHE WAVE is one of my favorite books. I had the privilege of seeing an exhibit of Kit Hinrichs’ flag memorabilia in NYC the summer of July 2000. I was so excited when he published his book the following year. Hooray for the red, white, and blue!

June 14th was my Dad’s birthday and he always said “Isn’t it nice that they put flags out for Stanley’s birthday!” He has been gone for 30 years but the whole family puts out a flag on the day and wishes him a Happy Birthday! I always wanted a flag bigger than the car dealerships had so have worked up to one that covers a two car garage door. Still looking for the bigger than that one.

My blood runs red, white & blue, and it’s always nice to see the flag being celebrated as well as revered. You have created some incredible patriotic tablescapes and vignettes in the past, and I love each and every one of them. Your creativity lends much to our national banner!

Red white and blue is really pretty … isn’t it?!!!! Love this post. I’m taking down my wreath on the front door and putting up Uncle Sam and will fly the flag from the balcony. Happy Flag Day!

  25. June 16, 2014 at 12:11 pm

Wonderful tribute! I feel bad I missed Flag day on the 14th. I have a flag pole out front that needs to be used more often. Those ready re-fill pots from Lowe’s are a great value. I’ve never bought one, but I’ve admired them since they are ready to go and easy. Love the red, white and blue combo.

Gorgeous Photos! I love the red transferware plates and the hydrangeas in the bottle. Beautiful!

  29. June 27, 2014 at 12:28 pm

Beautiful! I love that you found a way to do July 4th without making it ‘hokey’. I’m working on my table now for the 4th and trying to steer clear of all the obvious choices. You did just that and achieved a lovely vignette. I like the use of the flags, but utilized with such taste. Gorgeous crisp photos, as well!!

  30. June 27, 2014 at 5:30 pm

Hello! I’m new here–swooning over your lovely table setting! Everything is gorgeous! Blessings, Cecilia
