I found the idea on Pinterest when I needed a dessert to send with my husband for a baby shower at work. Cake decorating/frosting is not in my skill set, but there are lots of cute ways you could decorate and customize these rattles!
She is having a girl, can you tell? :)
The most time consuming part is
tying the bows on to the lollipop sticks,
double-sided ribbon helps.
Use a toothpick to make your hole in your cupcake and wrapper to help ease the lollipop stick in, likewise for the gum drop on the bottom of the “rattle”.
I used a lemon cake mix I doctored for the cupcakes,
substituting buttermilk for the water,
4 eggs instead of 3, and the same amount of oil
called for in the mix.
And tinted cream cheese frosting with food coloring.
Celebrate It 360° Grosgrain Ribbon (Michaels) for double-sided bows along with lollipop sticks (Wilton) and gumdrops from Dollar Tree, aka candy central.
What a darling idea for a baby shower, Mary! The rattles look easy to do and a sweet ending to a party. I’ll pass this idea along for my youngest DIL’s upcoming shower. xo
These are too adorable, makes me want to throw a baby shower! And what do you mean cake decorating is not in your skill set??? Are you kidding, you are the queen of cute food in my book :) Thanks for sharing, I have a feeling we will be seeing these everywhere!

How CUUUUUUTE!!! I am sooooooooo saving this idea for the next *baby* event…thanks so much for sharing the idea, Mary. They are just darling!
I remember that animal safari baby shower you did…Awesome-Creative, as usual.
Thanks for sharing that great idea! I work with girls that are in the child-bearing stage of life and we are always looking for new ideas for baby showers!
I’m sorry, I know this is three years old! However, I noticed there are two cupcake liners on the cupcakes. Is there any reason for that? Is it for aesthetic purposes? Could I only use one?
Yes, There are two just for asethetics. If you don’t use a greaseproof cupcake liners when baking, the paper and pattern of the liners don’t stay bright and vibrant.
Very cute Mary! I bet everyone loved them:@)
Good morning Mary! Great idea on the cup cakes! 😊 the chicken salad bites are a great idea as well. Good for cocktail parties. Thanks for sharing!
I could skip breakfast this morning and dive into your cupcakes. Look delicious and are so pretty. Very cute idea.

Did you use store bought frosting, and what decorating tip was used?
Yes, either 1M or 2D :)
