beachcombing the aisles at Kohl’s
a couple of years ago. . .
The square shells resembling the chiseled stones
that border the edges of the stoneware.
Water hyacinth placemats
provide some coastal texture and
contrast to the stoneware.
And jute bottles are filled with
white powdered sand and shells.

a welcome and pleasant surprise as spying

Oooh, I like this set a lot. I love the floral salad plates and how they pair so nicely with the dinner plates. I also like the shape of the cup. Very pretty colors as well. When I set a seaside table I looked everywhere for glass floats, including World Market and didn’t see those great jute covered bottles that you have here (and never found floats). Very nice, Mary!
So glad I found your blog! My husband calls me the “dish fairy”. Love your tables. I worked in a gift shop that specialized in tablescapes, so I come by it naturally. Love those bichons, would love to see more of them.

I’m not particularly a beach person, but I really like the muted colors of the stoneware combined with the sand, shells, and napkin rings – I could definitely recreate this in my California Valley home – far from the sea. I’m a new fan.

The shades of blue with the earth tones offer a lovely organic ambiance. The floral plates offer a surprise and a touch of whimsy. This is a delightful summer table.

What a fun table. The crushed shells are so casual yet elegant. You always nail the perfect theme and with the water in the background – I can hear the waves. Makes me want to go to Cayman!
I love the varied use of the shells, especially the napkin rings. The pops of turq against the neutrals is a nice choice , as well.

I love the napkin rings Mary, and you must have a better selection at the Kohl’s in your area. Ours is not so good.
I love how the napkins pick up the blue in the plates. Love all the seashells. I haven’t started collecting them yet and I’m afraid to start – I don’t think I’ll be able to stop!

I bought a four piece setting at a thrift store where I volunteered to that was only missing one bowl. So lucky… I love the flowers and will be looking for those online. Beautiful tables ape Mary.
