At the Table: A Fall Transition with Mikasa Ventosa

I’m making the transition to fall at the table with

Ventosa Dinnerware by Mikasa Gourmet Basics.

Organic in design, Mikasa’s Gourmet Basics’ Ventosa Dinnerware is a

handcrafted collection that offers a modern option for dining.

DSC_4543-001

A reactive glaze provides a natural variation in color, while the starburst and linear design adds a feeling of movement, adding to the handcrafted appeal.

DSC_4520-001

Stoneware square plates are framed and accented in shape with woven chargers at the table, along with a checked tablecloth and napkins, providing a foundation of autumn colors.

DSC_4565-001

Mikasa’s Ryland collection of stemware offers a coordinating square shape in goblets as well as highball glasses. A maple leaf is tucked inside the glass, showing the first hint of fall color that I was thrilled to discover, since we don’t normally see the leaves change in our part of North Carolina until October.

{Insert a *cheer* for an early fall if you’re below the Mason-Dixon line, or *groan* if you’re above :)}

Square shaped soup/cereal bowls with a matte black glazed exterior

top the stack of salad and dinner plates. . .

. . .and amber glass vases are filled with an assortment of foliage clipped from shrubs

for a variety of texture and color for a simple & easy centerpiece.

Crimson Queen Japanese Maple, burgundy tipped Loropetalum, Kaleidoscope Abelia, and flowering dill.

Mugs offer a ready-made and handy napkin ring for easy and casual dining.

Gorgeous fall table, love the dishes, although I am not an orange person, the table cloth is perfect with everything and I really like it. You set the most beautiful tables.

I am loving this table, Mary! As always I am cheering on Fall. I know a lot of folks dread what follows Fall, but I have never let thoughts of snow and ice color my anticipation of my favorite season, Autumn!:-)

Mary, lovely table wear! I’m so ready for fall!🍂 Looking forward to crisp fall weather in Maine after spending a long hot summer in Florida. Happy Labor Day

Cheer!!! Fall is my favorite time of year!

  8. September 1, 2014 at 8:14 am

Mary, Your pretty table is reminding me of the best parts of autumn–colors and crispy air. Our leaves have already started to change. I think they will peak very early! My ideal seasonal changes would be for fall to last until, say, Thanksgiving, then a month of snow, then spring! Linda

Can you hear my “cheer” all the way from Dallas TX?!! High here today of 99, what I wouldn’t give for an early fall :) Love this gorgeous modern dinnerware, my modern-loving daughter would be swooning!

No matter the dishes, you make them look their best.

I discovered blogs this summer and they are so much fun. Yours is far and away my very favourite. You are amazing. You have such a gift with colour and items. You had me worshipping at Cinco de Mayo. (Here in Canada we don’t even know what Cinco de Mayo is.) I loved the fairies. I loved the hydrandeas. I love the fall tablescapes. I love everything you do. Unfortunately for my husband, I have bought maybe 6 sets or partial sets of china this summer – not all of them at garage sales! (I am a Johnson Bros freak.) Please go on giving me my joy fix and all the very best to you and yours.

Oh, if only we would have an early, and lengthy, fall this year! This is a beautiful table Mary. I must look for this table cloth to go with my brown and white dishes and also Spode Woodland . I believe it will be time to get that out soon and use it for fall table settings. Today sounds like a good day to go to Homegoods and Kohl’s while my husband golfs!

  14. September 1, 2014 at 10:43 am

Oh, my, I have been really objecting to fall coming, but this table has given me a spark of enthusiasm for the enticing colors this season brings! This table is lovely and really showcases what is so wonderful about the fall season arriving. The Mikasa dishes are an intriguing new design and I love how you have highlighted them with your plaid linens. All in all, a beautiful post. Rosie @ The Magic Hutch

Beautiful table, Mary…anxiously awaiting fall, too!

  16. September 1, 2014 at 10:57 am

I’m cheering for Fall, even though I know we have another month or two of heat here in the AZ desert. I’ve already decorated for my Faux Fall. I love the table linens and such a cute idea to use the mug as a napkin ring — very clever!

  17. September 1, 2014 at 12:21 pm

What an interesting & DIFFERENT tablescape, Mary! I am impressed with the way you incorporated the squares in the tablecloth, the square placemats, the square glassware and even used flatware with a straight edged bottom to echo the lines. You have a wonderful eye for such things!!

I have mixed emotions regarding Fall….LOVE the season but hate to see it arrive too soon. I hope it lasts until Dec. 24th, then it can snow. LOL

  18. September 1, 2014 at 12:46 pm

Beautiful Fall table. Love the dill and the Japanese maple stems as floral accents.

  19. September 1, 2014 at 1:41 pm

Mary, what a gorgeous tablesetting! I have that dinnerware; and you have inspired me to use it for fall! I bought the square glassware for my daughters. Now, I’m wishing I had kept it for myself…lol! You create such pretty tables!

  20. September 1, 2014 at 2:39 pm

Beautiful table. Hoping for an early & extended Fall, followed by chills in the air before Thanksgiving and a White Christmas. Even in western NC, current temps in the high 90’s keep me inside.

Love your table Mary! Although we won’t get our first cool day until the end of November here in So. Cal., I can live vicariously through your pictures!

  22. September 1, 2014 at 4:04 pm

The Ventosa looks very comfortable in this outdoor fall setting, and the cloth and napkins really make it sing! I wish I could find such beautiful sprigs to snip from my yard to grace my table, such a perfect complement to the organic dinnerware and your fall table. Of course the leaf in the glass is a genius touch, and I am crazy about the napkin rings~ You are definitely screaming, “Hurry Fall!” Mary! I hope you’ve had a wonderful Labor Day weekend and that their is a touch of fall in the late summer breeze over the lake~

VERY cool plates Mary! I do have to say this is the first year I’m not chomping at the bit for fall, although the humidity was back today:@)

  24. September 1, 2014 at 6:06 pm

Beautiful dinnerware and stunning setting, Mary
The pattern shows a slight Japanese influence, IMO..A very harmonious table.
Love your pairing of the different foliage with it.

  25. September 1, 2014 at 6:46 pm

I envy you the cooler temps & early fall colors. WE ARE STILL HOT HERE IN TEXAS! I am so ready for fall. I know Chloe & Gracie are probably glad for cooling days too. Elle is still staying inside a lot & wishes she had the lake & cool like your girls. Your photos are beautiful as always. I was telling hubby that I would like to take our foreign exchange student to N.C. for a visit to Biltmore Estates. IF we do that I would love to see if we could finally meet in person. OMG I have blogged with you for a long time & always wish we could actually meet… Enjoy the week.

  26. September 1, 2014 at 8:36 pm

What gorgeous dishes for heading into Fall, Mary. I love all the foliage in various heights on your table…so pretty! I am cheering for an early Fall, Mary, but I don’t see any signs around these parts!

What a beautiful table, Mary! I love how you used the handles of the mugs as napkin rings! After today’s heat, I’m ready for fall (and some rainfall!)

  29. September 1, 2014 at 10:33 pm

I am CHEERING!!! Even though the temps have climbed into the 90’s and thr humidity along with them, I started decorating today! I can’t wait any longer:) I LOVE your table and love thse vases. The dishes are very similiar to my daughters. Very pretty and you made the table beautiful! I know it is summer still but I am antsy for Fall. I just wish we could SKIP Winter:):)

  30. September 2, 2014 at 12:08 pm

absolutely gorgeous. i wish mother nature was taking cues from your tablescape, b/c it’s so hot and humid and completely unfall-like in PA. this is helping, i think.

Your table is breath-taking! The plaid cloth and napkins are beautiful for fall, and the simple leaf inside the glass gives the perfect hint of color to come in our trees. As always, you’ve set another gorgeous table!

I can hear the rustling of the fall leaves and feel the crispness in the air just by seeing these gorgeous images of a table that is so exquisitely created…the tablecloth and accessories should offered as part of the dinnerware as it is perfect with them!!!….Beautiful table with that ever so beautiful backdrop!!!

  38. September 6, 2014 at 7:12 am
