Potting Shed Winter Fun: Grapevine Wreath Snowman

DSC_1981-001

Brrrr. . .Baby it’s cold outside, but perfect weather if you’re a snowman or snow woman!

After the Christmas sprucing of the porch and taking down the tree, my back door of my Potting Shed looked cold and barren and in need of a little winter love.

Years ago I saw a grapevine snowman wreath in Southern Living magazine. Various versions of snowman wreaths have popped up all over Pinterest. It’s easy to build your own, using three graduated sizes of grapevine wreaths, wired together.

My snow woman is wearing a plaid scarf to keep her fashionable and warm, assorted greenery, donning a hat and sporting wellies.

Her hat is a plastic pot, now empty of the poinsettia that came in it, that I cut in half.

The drainage holes on the bottom of the pot are filled with sprigs of greenery and providing a place for a clip on bird ornament to nest.

And wellies were refilled with fresh greens for winter, a garden fork and bird nest for some fancy footwear or snow woman boots.

It’s all about the shoes, even if you’re a snow woman :)

Her pine branch arm is holding a rake with a bird house and trowel while she patiently waits for spring planting.

Hope you’re staying warm and cozy this winter!

She’s super cute, and I love how you used the drain holes to add the greenery to her hat. I hope you have another pair of wellies at the ready – looks like you gave her first choice! ;)

Extra adorable and another Monday smile Mary! A Snow Woman! She is simply too cute! My pumpkin snowman froze over the past few days and is looking very mushy :( I’m sick of winter already!! Your Snow Woman looks like she can weather the weather well! Too much fun!

This has been one of those seasons (this past holiday season) that just never was. My husband went into the ICU two days before Christmas and wasn’t released until the day after New Year’s. So all of my parties were canceled, and I just sat alone in front of the fire watching a marathon of Hallmark Christmas movies. It wasn’t all bad, actually. I was certainly more rested this year than in years past. That said, i do believe that your shed alone is more festively decorated than was my entire house. Thanks for this lovely bit of the season and for years of inspiration.

Mary, I would love to be your friend and neighbor, I think we would have a great deal of fun. While your creative talent is “off the charts”, and your photography beautiful, I think I am more impressed with the frequency and detail of your creations. I am one of those individuals with all kinds of ideas and plans, but often have a “failure to execute”. Thank you for sharing your talents and giving me so much visual pleasure each week. The wreath snowman/woman is wonderful. Marie M
