I’m looking for the beauty in winter while we’re surrounded by shades of gray and a blanket of fog.
While there is nothing prettier than clear blue water reflecting blue skies, there’s something mysterious and a little magical about the quiet beauty and winter landscape of the lake.
Especially in the early morning when the light is just starting to peek through bare branches. . .
And as the steam fog rises off the lake.
Spectacular! You have such an eye to capture the beauty in everything. Have a wonderful weekend, Mary.
Very pretty indeed! Sounds like we might get a little white mixed in with our gray tonight:@)
Gorgeous, gorgeous, gorgeous.
Peaceful and calm is what I see, lovely. The gray also makes the anticipation of spring so much sweeter.
Just beautiful! You definitely have the eye of an artist when photographing.
Now that is beautiful, atmospheric photography! So, so lovely.
Stunning. I so want a house on a lake but until I can get one, I soooooo enjoy yours!
A lovely post Mary!

Good morning! Isn’t nature beautiful!? So peaceful and serene! Have a great weekend!🌴😊
What beautiful pictures, Mary! I love silhouettes of trees against the sky, in the winter months, which are a thing of beauty. The sweet birds feasting at your feeder make a gorgeous scene, also. Thank you for sharing your winter photos from the lake.
Good Morning Mary. There are no words to describe these exquisite pictures and what each one captures. They fill my Soul with song. Thank you so much for sharing with us! Hope all around you have a Most Wonderful Weekend! I look forward to each and every post. I hope to someday make an adventure to Lake Norman.
With every post on your blog, I think ‘this is my favorite one of all’. Today I had to re-arrange and make room for the winter morning fog scene – just love it. Thank you for reminding us that beauty abounds.
Beautiful pictures, Mary! That spot of bright red which is the cardinal really highlights all the grays! Thank you!
So beautiful and a little bit eerie in the fog. :)
I’ve always loved that wooden Adirondack style chair … it’s perfect in any season or setting!
Hi Mary,
Your serene pictures of this beautiful lake are taking me away to our favorite lake destination where I go out in the morning, alone, to have some “me” time and contemplate my life. This morning I have your photos open on my laptop on the kitchen counter and I am stopping to glance and breathe as I pass by each time. Charlotte’s wedding is tomorrow! Thank you for the peaceful moments.

Love winter♡ There is something mysterious about it that draws you in to discover more. Thanks for the pics of the lake….absolutely beautiful! !
Oh Mary, thank you for this post. It so reminds me of sitting on my Father-in-laws dock on a river in Fl. He LOVED sitting and then later, lying out on the dock and seeing the boats go by. We and the dogs would sit there with him to keep him company. I miss him alot. All of your beautiful photos (except the frosty ones:) remind me of the scene from his dock. Have a beautiful weekend.
You certainly found the beauty of Winter on that day. Beautiful shots, Mary.
So beautiful.
Thank you so much for brightening my Oregon morning!
Winter could be bleak and stark but you show it as magical and mysterious…
Stunning photos!
Your pictures are always so great; you truly have an eye. Something lovely can always be found as long as we keep looking for it. A perfect day to see what lies beyond, when all the leaves are not obscuring the view. I am always amazed at things I see in autumn and winter that get missed with the tree cover of spring and summer. Thanks for sharing your beautiful shots.
Seeing your photos was like taking a mini vacation, a little break from all the snow and the 10,000 frozen lakes here in the frozen tundra known as Minnesnowta!
Beautiful pictures!!!!!
There is such beauty in winter especially close to the water.
~Mary~
Beautiful pictures , winter really is a beauty !!
