An Irish Blessing and St. Patrick’s Day Table

DSC_4893-001

I’m in the Potting Shed with all things green for St. Patrick’s Day and inspiration from an Irish Blessing for a little tabletop fun!

DSC_4770-001

With St. Patrick’s Day on the horizon and spring around the corner,

it seemed appropriate to have a celebration of all things green and garden!

DSC_4854-001

I gathered some green and white flowers from the grocery store to fill some Spring Green Ball Heritage Jars. . .

DSC_4798-001

Carnations, Alstroemeria, Spider Mums, Daisies, Stock and some Bells of Ireland for good luck.

Birds dishes, napkin rings and gardening gloves flew in to join the fun. . .

Along with bird houses, old garden trowels, watering cans, and flower frogs.

An Irish Blessing:

“May flowers always line your path and sunshine light your day. . .

May songbirds serenade you every step along the way.

DSC_4871-001

May a rainbow run beside you in a sky that’s always blue. . .

DSC_4839-001

And may happiness fill your heart each day your whole life through.”

I had the luck of the Irish with the timely arrival of the sun streaming through the beveled glass window in my Potting Shed.

And casting rainbows on the table.

All the green is so refreshing and obviously lucky especially when the rainbow showed up on your table. As usual, a beautiful setting! Thank you.

Ahhh that table setting in your potting shed is so serene, Mary. I’m loving the shades of green, just like the Irish countryside. The rainbow, resulting from the sun shining through the beveled glass, was a beautiful (and lucky) addition to your setting. Slainte’!

What don’t I love? The gloves are absolutely precious. I always wonder where you keep all your dishes. You must need another shed just for all your stuff. I am so envious. LOL

Everything in the pictures looks so refreshing & green – I’m dying for GREEN!! I like the idea of the side by side place settings, now just have to figure out how to do it with the set up we have. There’s just the two of us now & I would love to do something like that instead of the traditional setup. Thanks for the inspiration!

Mary, how fortunate to have the sunny skies; not as lucky here as far as some sunshine. I kept waiting for some rays, and finally had to take photos inside. Loving all the greens and signs of spring in your potting shed. The garden gloves are too pretty to use for digging in dirt. ‘-) Yippee! More photos for my Green Inspiration Board. Crushing on the faux bois watering container. Is it vintage?
As always, you have brightened my morning and my day. I remain in awe of your design talent.

Thanks Gersch! I found them at Target several years ago. They’re too pretty to use :)

    Mary,

Love your potting shed Irish tablescape. Our area is finally having spring weather–it was in the 60’s this past Sunday through today. We got rain yesterday and today. Looking forward to more sunshine. Love the rainbow through the glass prism. You have such talent for putting together such lovely things.

You were definitely creative in coming up with the idea to do a little table setting in your potting shed for St. Pat’s Day – perfectly combining green in all it’s glory! Love the dishes and goblet and the napkin is fantastic! Yum, would love for you to make some of those handpies for my St. Pat’s dinner!

  20. March 11, 2015 at 4:45 pm

Lovely setting…love those napkins. Wonderful décor!

  24. March 11, 2015 at 6:01 pm

Now this is my kind of green! And you even snagged a rainbow landing in your pot-ting gold shed! Any time you play in the shed you give me garden pangs of my yesteryears… I am so eager to move and start afresh it hurts to see the fun you are having. I pray we can find level land to enjoy my last decades gardening on flat land! Meanwhile my green eyes are watching!

What a beautiful table with all its lovely signs of Spring and upcoming St. Patrick’s Day. I haven’t seen Bells of Ireland in years. Have a very Happy St. Paddy’s Day.

  32. March 12, 2015 at 9:39 am

Hi Mary, I’m loving your potting shed all decked out in the green. So many adorable ways you’ve set the scape. Love the green jars and dishes and the little unexpected. Great garden gloves and birdhouses. I think I’m in love with your shed too! Happy St. Patrick’s Day…….
    Hugs

  33. March 12, 2015 at 9:51 am

Mary, I just love this simple color scheme–so perfect for a garden shed as our world turns green again. Your countertop would be a wonderful place to dine and overlook the field. I just saw the bird dishes in HGs this week, and in my quest to “say no to the dish” I left them there. When I see them on your tables I always want them and it’s true again! Love your watering jug too. And you would be horrified if you saw my garden gloves. Not fit for a table or even to be seen. Spring is on its way and that means I’ll get a new pair, hurrah! Linda

Your display is beautiful! I love the bird/leaf accent plates best of all. The white is so pretty against all the green. Love your windows, too! Happy green month. :-)

    Mary,
Perfect timing for a grenn and white table top setting in the Potting Shed!!!
Here on the Prairie, the temperatures have been in the 70’s most of this week!!!
I am totally smitten with the linen table runner!!!
I adore the hues of greens, whites and a hint of soft buttery yellows in your floral choices!!!
Happy St. Patrick’s Day, dear friend!!!
    Fondly,
    Pat

A birdhouse and embroidered napkins….I didn’t need to see anything else to like this table.

  38. March 13, 2015 at 12:08 pm

Hi Mary, I love the charming table you’ve set in your potting shed! All the flowers and gardening accoutrements really add to the St. Pat’s theme. I got my Bordallo Pinheiro cabbage plates last year at Tuesday Morning, too; I really wish now I’d bought more. :-D I love, love your gorgeous napkins and the pretty bird napkin rings! Everything coordinates so nicely. The rainbow sunbeam is the perfect touch for an Irish Blessing table.

Thanks so much for your visit to my pub table. I hope you have a great weekend!!

    Warm hugs,

    Denise

One of my favorite tables with all that green! Beautiful, Mary. I so enjoy seeing how everyone uses their BP cabbage dishes and what they pair them with. The hand pies are making me salivate…
    Enjoy the weekend.

  41. March 14, 2015 at 5:58 pm

I didn’t want to post my cabbage plates table after I saw how beautiful yours looked! You are truly a master of this Mary. Every post is a delight, and I don’t know how you keep up with it! The light coming in is just wonderful and the hand pies look delicious! I just did 10 loaves of ISB, and now I am cooking Paddy’s Pig for dinner! Have a wonderful SPD, and thanks so much for taking part in the 7th and last St. Patrick’s Day Blog crawl!
