At the Table: Katie Alice Scarlet Posey

I have a table full of posies in time for spring and gardening season, Katie Alice® Scarlet Posey by Pfaltzgraff!

Northamptonshire born lifestyle designer, Katie Alice, weaves her colorful magical story across beautiful tableware collections, inspired by her love of vintage heirlooms and antique fabrics.

Scarlet Posey Dinnerware, a pattern inspired by a snippet of 1950s textile, is adorned with a colorful floral design and bordered by a charming polka dot pattern in red and white.

With the arrival of spring and warmer temperatures, I’m galvanized to garden! Tabletop gardening is my favorite kind and I planted my galvanized metal 3 tier server as a centerpiece for the table with a few pots, vintage garden tools, flowers and scarlet posies :)

Galvanized chargers are serving up Scarlet Posey dinnerware, available with a red rim or in floral pattern in both salad and dinner pIates, as well as in mugs and bowls. I alternated the place settings at the table for some garden variety. :)

Blooming Floral Frost flatware serves as a make-shift plant marker in a bowl of petunias for a touch of whimsy.

Purple Ball Heritage Collection Jars released this year are the last in the 3 year series of Heritage Collection Jars.

DSC_6794-001

I picked some posies of white and purple carnations and stock with their ruffled texture and fragrance from the grocery store to fill them.

Oh so pretty! My immediate thought was they look retro, then I read where you said they were 1950’s inspired. This is a very fun, joyful pattern Mary-love it:@)

Perfectly charming! The floral design dinnerware is just beautiful! I’m a sucker for gingham and polka dots and get giddy when I see them used together. Love the interplay of the textures and the flowers–and the surprise of the purple Ball jars. Thanks for another inspiring post!

What an adorable little retro design, the red “dotted swiss” does take you straight to the 50s~the dinnerware is wonderful paired with your galvanized garden pieces, and table gardening is my favorite kind! Love the purple jars with it too, and the sweet checked napkins, it’s all so happy! Have a great week Mary~

Mary, as a child of the 50s, this takes me back. Love the happiness of those posies and polka-dots! I bought those Pier 1 napkins in the pastels for spring. Their crocheted edges are a sweet touch, and of course the gingham is a winner. I’ll look for them in the red. How cute with my Courtly Check. ‘-)
Thanks for sharing another darling table. The centerpiece is cute. I’m off to add to my Red Board on Pinterest.
Enjoy your beautiful day at the lake!

    Mary,

Love your tablescape of red and white patterned dishes. You have such a wonderful talent for decorating. Even though I grew up in the 50’s and 60’s, I didn’t see that kind of dinnerware. Hope you had a lovely Easter.

It’s all your fault! I saw your post and immediately fell in love with these dishes. I e-mailed my daughter the picture of them and the message: “If I was 20 years younger, I’d have to have these dishes.” She responded back that if I would get rid of two sets of my existing dishes, she and her brother would get them for me for Mother’s Day (and birthday and Christmas). SO, I’ve got two sets of my dishes ready to go to the resale shop – and the Katie Alice Scarlet Posey dishes have been ordered – one set of each design (service for 8). I’m so excited!

    • April 7, 2015 at 5:07 am

How fun Betty! Enjoy your new dishes and Happy Mother’s Day in advance! :)

As much as I love blue, there is also a love for red. Your red posy table is so happy, and the red watering can my favorite piece on the table. I do love polka dots, too. Another beautiful table…

This is a very pretty retro pattern. I love polka dots, especially red dots on a white plate

  36. April 9, 2015 at 12:44 pm

My box with my dishes just arrived. Fast service and wow they are better than the picture. I went out to the fabric store and got small red check material and made my napkins and I found some napkin rings also. I am washing my dishes right now and going to use them tonight. Your displays are so wonderful and your recipes have all been the greatest hits with family and friends. I am so glad to be getting your emails, they brighten my day.

As I mentioned in an earlier post above, my daughter ordered the Scarlet Posies dishes for me and I received them on Friday. Ordered service for 4 of the polka dot and 4 of the floral so will mix and match. They are SO pretty. The red is sort of a “brick” red, which seems to make it more “neutral” that a bright red. Like Janet, I headed to the fabric store and got 3 different kinds of fabric to make napkins. I will also make “coasters” to match. I have a large baker’s rack in the kitchen, so have put the dishes on that so they are handy to use. (One plate was broken on arrival, and two other pieces had little flaws. I called this morning and replacements are on there way.) The company seems VERY user friendly.

    I’m 76 years old – – – but it’s never too old to buy/receive pretty dishes!

Thank you, Mary. I love your blog.
