Not for long since the field will soon be mowed for hay.
And the occasional Bachelor Button, aka, Cornflower or Bluebottle Flowerwill also disappear.
I took some time to stop and smell the daisies :) and pick a boot-bouquet. . .
Ox-eye daisy is a common roadside daisy and considered a noxious week since it’s so invasive.
It’s prohibited by more states than any other wildflower for agricultural reasons.
It’s hard to believe that a flower that looks so cheery with its sunny yellow centers and white petals could be considered noxious.
For me:
“It is not spring until you can plant your foot upon twelve daisies.”
– old proverb
In was in potting / garden mode and in the kitchen this weekend. The cover of this cookbook with its whimsical illustrations provides some blooming inspiration, along with a taste of Mexico!
The Novel Bakers return tomorrow with
My Abuela’s Table: An Illustrated Journey into Mexican Cooking,
Hi Mary, It’s hard to believe that the beautiful daisy is banned! When I was a little girl we used these “weeds” to play “he loves me, he loves me not” and to twist into little crowns. I had no idea they were one of the invasive plants, but they are so pretty and they must be nice to see gently blowing in your field. Now, about that gorgeous photo of the Novel Bakers book–is it too late to cancel my post??? :) Linda
Mary, your field is enchanted. The book looks equally enchanted, with its circle of wildflowers. So pretty! Looking forward to seeing what you and the girls cooked up. See you tomorrow!
Oh so wonderful to live near a field of daisies, and to be able to fill your boots with blooms, Mary!! Love the old proverb~Your potting shed looks so far away from your house, how do you tote all your play things out there, inquiring minds want to know :) The cookbook is muy bonita! Can’t wait to see what you’ve been up to in your cocina!!

So looking forward to tomorrow. I am wishing we had a field of those NOXIOUS daisies around here:) I would be picking them too! Love the cookbook encircled with the flowers.
Love them!
In the area of SC where I lived for so many years, the daisies, bachelor buttons, blue hydrangeas and orange daylilies bloomed at the same time by the roadways…I used to love to drive up and down the back roads and cut them for mass arrangements
Your boot bouquet is so pretty, Mary. It’s so sad that those cheery daisies are noxious. How can that be? I’m glad that you put them to good use for us to enjoy.
Looking forward to tomorrow! Good food, good music and great Margeritas! 💃🏻
Daisies are the “HAPPY” flower!!! Please, please don’t eat the daisies!! Thank you..😍🌼🌼🌼🌼🌼🌼

Adore the whole thing. Daisy’s are like sweet fresh faced little girls, busy chatting and swirling around.
