My field of dreams is sprouting daisies. . .
Not for long since the field will soon be mowed for hay.
And the occasional Bachelor Button, aka, Cornflower or Bluebottle Flower will also disappear.
I took some time to stop and smell the daisies :) and pick a boot-bouquet. . .
Ox-eye daisy is a common roadside daisy and considered a noxious week since it’s so invasive.
It’s prohibited by more states than any other wildflower for agricultural reasons.
It’s hard to believe that a flower that looks so cheery with its sunny yellow centers and white petals could be considered noxious.

In was in potting / garden mode and in the kitchen this weekend. The cover of this cookbook with its whimsical illustrations provides some blooming inspiration, along with a taste of Mexico!

Hi Mary, It’s hard to believe that the beautiful daisy is banned! When I was a little girl we used these “weeds” to play “he loves me, he loves me not” and to twist into little crowns. I had no idea they were one of the invasive plants, but they are so pretty and they must be nice to see gently blowing in your field. Now, about that gorgeous photo of the Novel Bakers book–is it too late to cancel my post??? :) Linda

In the area of SC where I lived for so many years, the daisies, bachelor buttons, blue hydrangeas and orange daylilies bloomed at the same time by the roadways…I used to love to drive up and down the back roads and cut them for mass arrangements
