Hi Mary, I’ve been visiting you for a month now but this is the first time I’ve commented. And it’s always a WOW, everytime I open your blog! I live in Canada & cannot grow the same flowers, however Peonies are just peeking through the ground now! Thank you for giving me a peek of the beauty to come. Enjoy your weekend, here it Canada it’s a long one called Victoria Day!
Cheers!
Cynthia
Peonies were my fathers favorite flower and being Catholic our May altars were always decorated with large bouquets of them in pink, white and red!! I have all three colors in my gardens but as of today, they are still big buds. Peonies don’t bloom in Indy until, usually, Memorial Day. Thanks for sharing yours until mine are in bloom. I too love cutting them for display and CAN’T wait!! 🏁🌸🌸🇺🇸
I sooo love the fluffy, old fashioned look of peonies, Mary, and remember them from my childhood in PA, and OH, but I never see them here in Texas. I’m happy to enjoy your cuttings of them in your ball jars, though, and what a pretty display you made in your potting shed.
Happy weekend to you!
Mary, the pictures are beautiful all of your pictures reminds me of an artists pallet, your talents are so enjoyed by many thank you for sharing. My peonies are just forming Buds and usually bloom around Memorial Day, my choice of flower to take to the cemetery. The fragrance is heavenly and so reminds me of my childhood and my grandmas garden.
Oh to have such a beautiful bundle of blossoms to play with! What a gorgeous vignette Mary! Your peonies are just breathtaking, and I just love all your fun garden accessories tucked about and your Staffordshire~happy weekend!

Your peonies and pictures are beautiful!!! Just last night we counted about 25 buds on ours and I can’t wait til they bloom!!! Love that spoon too. Have a blooming good weekend, Mary!!!
I am convinced that pink peonies look the best in blue mason jars! Your pictures are so lovely!! I’m totally jealous that everyone has fresh peonies in their houses and my grocery stores aren’t stocking any right now :-(
My mother had a garden of Peonies. As a child, I was excited to see the lovely little ball buds explode into huge puffs of delicate and colorful petals. I have always loved this flower!
so pretty, you forced me to race down my hill to see my peonies, which i completley missed while living at the beach, so now you are forcing me to hit the florist! i LOVE peonies, the scent drives me wild, fluffy little beauties that just beckon you from afar… gorgeous, if that was your full day of work/play in the shed i am not feeling that sorry for you girl!
Peonies flourish at your lakeside too? I do think you have the most perfect spot. Wish we could grow them here. I buy bouquets when they are available at the grocery flower stand, but how nice to walk outside and cut a handful of beautiful blooms. I know the fragrance in your home and potting shed is filled with peony love.
Happy Weekend! ~ Sarah
Mary,
The list of flowers that I love but cannot grow is endless…. hydrangeas, peonies, delphiniums top the list. Trader Joe’s has been a blessing for supplying them at prices I can afford. Love your display…. and your spoon.

Those peonies are beautiful, and I love them in the jars. I have a set of Staffordshire dishes like yours in my potting shed. I think the dishes look good with any flower. I enjoy seeing what you do in your potting shed. You are so creative.
I do love Peonies. We have several in the neighborhood that date back to the 40’s. Which I am going to get divisions of this coming Fall. I can’t wait until they bloom in my garden!
So beautiful! I got my first peony plant last year for Mother’s Day from my two sweet daughters. They gave me Mother’s Choice, a white bloom. I got so many blooms this year! I think I’m hooked!!! I like your idea of putting the blooms in teacups. :) Thanks for your beautiful posts!!
I shall take that wonderful blueberry french toast with a side of pink peonies please!….Gorgeeous!…Must get some peonies and plant them in the garden so that I can enjoy them next year!…
In other words the ‘Superblizz’ is the ultimate glam boot that will not only make you look gorgeously chic but look fabulously fit.
If you’re looking for sculpted calves without hitting the gym, then the Fit – Flop will indeed leave you disappointed.
A lot lighter on the pocketbook, the Fit – Flop is reasonably priced at an average
price of fifty dollars.

Not sure what part of Texas you are in, but peonies are prolific here in Louisiana. Maybe ask around some of the local nurseries. They thrive here.

Just beautiful, Mary. I can almost smell them from here! The rain got to the lilacs again this year and it looks like it may do the peonies in, too.
