At the Table: Mikasa Modern Butterfly

DSC_1002-001

I’m at the table with a colorful metamorphosis, flowering centerpiece and Mikasa Modern Butterfly dinnerware.

A fresh look at a classic icon, Modern Butterfly is a transitional pattern that brings the timeless beauty of butterflies to the table for casual or formal dining.

Butterflies winged their way to the tablecloth as well as the dinnerware and are fluttering among the blooms in the centerpiece!

A Mikasa Florale Crystal Bowl serves a vase for the table. I placed hosta leaves along each petal of the bowl to conceal a glass of water inside the vase.

I was all aflutter when my grocery store had sunshine bouquets for $3.99 this week, ideal for attracting butterflies which generally feed in the sun. :) I added some hydrangea blooms and hosta leaves from the garden to round out a nectar producing bouquet for the table.

Butterflies were found colonizing on the aisles of Michaels so I tucked some in between the blooms.

A Food Network Garden Gate tablecloth and napkins migrated from Kohl’s for a kaleidoscope of butterflies at the table.

Do you always get your arrangements on the first try or do you have to go through a couple of renditions before it gels for you? The tables are always so perfectly arranged.

Wow Mary, what a pretty tablescape and so is the view! Using the hosta leaves to conceal the glass of water is such a great idea. The tablecloth, the centerpiece, and the hostess serving set all enhance the pretty Mikasa dishes.

Another gorgeous tablescape! I love the colors and combinations of butterfly patterns, and the centerpiece is really pretty, too!

It should not surprise me how your sense of what is perfect and compatible always works…but,,, it does…
You have an innate instinct for finding the perfect touch… flowers, linens, flatware…Your style and attention to detail is perfectly balanced in this table…Although I would not have paid much attention to that particular china patter if seeing it in a store or catalog, the way you ‘frame it’ makes me want to use it on my own table.

….and yes, that was a very clever trick putting the flowers in a glass and hiding it with the hosta leaves.

Mary, Mary! What fun to receive your posts & to see yet another of your fantastic tablescapes! I do love butterflies for sooo many reasons! First off, they remind me how we can be changed from hungry, devouring caterpillars to a new creation in Christ! Thank you for sharing your creativity with us!

How did you ever find such a perfect cloth to match it all Mary! It was made for this dinnerware with butterflies everywhere~ Your flowers are the perfect compliment to your table, and I must remember the hosta leaf trick…hosta is one thing I can grow! The serving pieces are entirely too much fun!

Very pretty. What a nice table for the spring time. It might be nice to eat there in the dead of winter as well.

  25. June 14, 2015 at 7:53 am

Mary, I can see that your sunshine bouquet did the trick and really attracted some “butterflies” to your lovely table. Such a pretty pattern from Mikasa, fun but with a touch of elegance! The serving set would work with so many patterns, too. Linda
