Flag Day: Long May She Wave!

DSC_0155-002

June 14th is Flag Day, commemorating the adoption of the flag

of the United States, paying tribute to the banner

that weaves us together and waves above us all.

Americans are encouraged to observe Flag Day and National Flag Week by displaying the flag, so I’m waving the flag from the archives :)

Mary, I think you’ve outdone yourself with this post….it might be my new favorite! I love the shed and how she’s all dressed-up in American flags. LOVE the idea of a red white and blue picnic. I like the color bowls from Lowes so much I might see if our local Lowes has them.

    Have a great weekend!

    Mary,
Your decor is so lovely and oh, so Patriotic! I love it. You always amaze and inspire me.

Mary, my patriotic soul needed this post this morning. All my red, white, and blue is packed and in storage, and I’m missing it as summer days dawn. I stopped in Target this morning and picked up a few things. I know, what am I thinking when I have boxes of things I could go pull from. Just couldn’t resist the pretty folded paper stars and fans that I can hang from a tree or possible the dinning room light fixture.
My younger brother was born on Flag Day, so it has a double meaning for me. Long May She Wave has long been my all time favorite patriotic book.
Thanks for the review of all your fantastic patriotic posts. I need to check my pin board and make certain I have all of these ideas pinned.

Mary this is simply beautiful! I love decorating for the patriotic holidays – we deck out the outside of our house in flag bunting and since we have lots of red flowers and navy shutters – it is very patriotic! You are always an inspiration to me. Have a great weekend!

Thank you for reminding me. I was a little late, but my flag is flying. Your post is wonderful. God Bless America.

Wish I had visited this morning I would have put my flag up, today was my tea party, to drunk, I mean relaxed to handle it now. The coast guard is training on the beach with loads of men, maybe to show their extra patriotism they picked today. Wonderful collage of god bless America over the years in all its glory.

“I pledge allegiance to the flag of the United States of America, and to the republic for which it stands, one nation under God, indivisible, with liberty and justice for all.”

I well remember the first time I recited the pledge…

My dad shares his birthday with Flag Day, which is totally appropriate since he’s one of the most civic-minded, patriotic, America-loving men I know. I always pay tribute to him and this day by proudly displaying our flag. This are some scrumptious ideas. I had to share your post on my blog!

  23. June 14, 2015 at 8:11 am

Mary, I fly our flag everyday but today I add some extras to the table and the house! Long May She Wave is a favorite book of mine too and full of inspiration and tidbits of info. Later today I will sit on our deck with something cool in a vintage glass :) and enjoy going back over your patriotic posts! Linda

This is a beautiful post! I love all the lovely pictures—–wish I could have the red and white quilt pillow–saw a perfectly perfect quilt similar to the pillow several years ago. A great price, even. Didn’t buy it. I’m still regretting my self control…..
Thanks for sharing the great tributes!
