Weekend Waterview: Early Lake Morning

DSC_5078-001

We’re early risers at our house, even on the weekends.

DSC_0632-001

Mainly because of these two who need to go out, demand to be fed, then proceed to go back to sleep.

DSC_5080-001

I took these photos yesterday around 7 am.  It was a delightful 69 degrees and low humidity! More 90+ degree temperatures ahead for us today and this week, but a girl can dream about an early fall . . .*sigh*.

DSC_5074-001

The light changes so quickly after the sun comes up. Within a matter of 5 – 10 minutes the reflections are gone and the clouds have disappeared from the water.

It reminds of one of my favorite movie quotes: “Life moves pretty fast. If you don’t stop and look around once in a while, you could miss it.”

~words of wisdom from Ferris Bueller :)

Morning is my favorite time of day, oh so serene and just you and Mother Nature.

Happy Sunday!

Good Morning Mary, Your photographs are so beautiful. I love how, as the sun rises, it gently gives colour to the fluffy clouds.
… and the lake, it looks so peaceful, it is like a mill pond.
Chloe and Gracie look so lovely sleeping together, but once awake, I feel sure they will be ‘full of beans’ again.
Here in the North of England, it is grey with lots of rain, so to see your photos this morning has been a lovely treat.
    Enjoy your day.
    Best Wishes
    Daphne

Good Morning to you across the pond Daphne! Thanks for your visit, we desperately need some of your rain. Chloe especially is full of beans :)

Yes Mary I know all too well about the early risers. Our 8 year old Red Labrador has me awake at 6 every morning to go out then come back in to eat. We had a screened in porch built 3 years ago so after we are finished with getting the morning stuff out of the way, that is where we will be at listening to the birds and watching the bunnies.

Porch time in the morning is the best Lynn! Happy Sunday :)

Lol! My Bichon does the same thing to me! Up early ( I too am an early riser) eats, does his business and then back to bed! Enjoy your “quiet time”!

Thanks Michelle, doggie kisses from Chloe & Gracie :)

I agree best time of the day. in the summer I sit with my yellow lab Nellie and watch the calm waters of my lake in Maine. Thanks for sharing your early morning.

    • August 2, 2015 at 7:52 am

I’d love to visit Maine Judy, especially with our heat right now.

  5. August 2, 2015 at 7:46 am

I love your photos. I too have dogs that want to be fed and let out. I don’t have a water view to enjoy but I go to our gazebo with my coffee and watch and listen to all the birds and animals. As I am writing this reply a chipmunk is be very vocal. Communing with nature is just the best way to start one’s day!! Have a wonderful day.

    • August 2, 2015 at 7:50 am

Thanks Patricia! We’re watching the birds at the feeders right now, enjoy your Sunday :)

Ferris Bueller was a wise man! Lovely photos. I, too, love morning and have been sitting on our screened porch for the last hour. It’s the most beautiful and peaceful time of day. Have a blessed day, Mary! Love your blog!

I too have early risers. My Springer & King Charles Spaniel are up at 5:30 everyday. We have a clock in our bedroom that displays the time on the sealing. I think they have learned to tell time, Lol! They too go back to sleep after their morning routine. Doggie kisses from my dogs to yours!

Good morning! My border collies get us up early too, only they don’t go back to sleep! But that’s ok. I love early mornings…the mist rising off the fields, the sun peeking through the trees, the cool before the day’s heat, and the birds waking up. I’m with you – I want an early Fall!
Your photos are just lovely; I feel like I’m there watching the sun rise with you!
    Have a blessed day,
    Cecilia

Morning is my favorite time too. opening up the house to let in some fresh air and listening to all the different kinds of birds. A cup of coffee and two biscotti make it complete.

    Beautiful pictures!
Loved the ones of the Chloe & Gracie, adorable!
Early morning is the best, quiet time and a great way to meditate or create. ☕️
Unfortunately I don’t have a wonderful view of a lake shore, nor do I see our river a few blocks away, instead I see the neighbor kids toys strewn all around the yard & horribly weedy garden, look the other way and I see dead plants, old plastic pots, a 1/2 bag of mulch that they must have forgot back in June shoved under a tree & basically trash that they neglected to throw away, so I have planted till I cannot possible dig anymore with high ornamental grasses & shrubs so I can enjoy my yard & patio.
Be glad you have a beautiful scenery and do enjoy it!

There are few things more beautiful than the soft colors of morning reflected in the water. I love all the pinks, purples and blues… so lovely!

    *giggles* Save Ferris!
    Lovely photos!

  13. August 2, 2015 at 8:35 am

Ah, the wisdom of Ferris Bueller… I love to get up early and watch the day begin to “happen,” especially on the water… your photos are beautiful, Mary, I love the cloud reflections on the still water~

Loved the beautiful pictures Mary – the clouds reflected in the water are lovely. You are ready for fall and I’m clinging to summer. (Fall is my favorite time, but Winters are soooo long in MI) We are really having a great summer, just the right temps – some days in the high 70’s – low 80’s with low humidity, (my favorite for doing yard work) but some high 80’s low 90’s and high humidity which is beach time! I don’t have a boat, but I’m at the beach almost every weekend- doing our picnic thing, just looking at the water and of course jumping the waves rejuvenates me! Love it! I love quiet mornings too on the weekends – sitting on our deck listening to the birds and watching our Buddy (cocker spaniel /black lab mix) chase the squirrels. lol . Your girls are precious! Life is good – God is good! Have a blessed day!

  15. August 2, 2015 at 9:21 am

It’s worth it to get up early and see all the beauty of the morning sky reflected in the water, Mary! It certainly starts your day with a lovely view, all thanks to Chloe and Gracie!

  16. August 2, 2015 at 9:51 am

Heh…..my sophiejane and I cannot seem to roll outa the sack till 8 or 9ish these days😜!!!! She sleeps longer than I do and often looks perturbed when I make her go outside earlier. We be lazy dogs….both of us! We do miss some beautiful mornings sitting on our deck over the water but we do log out shut-eye!!!!

  17. August 2, 2015 at 9:53 am

Should have been “love” our shut eye…..crazy phone autocorrect!

Your photos are uplifting, Mary–serene and beautiful, too. Living next to the water must be filled with ever-changing moments, as FB said. We’re facing another 90-something degree week, too: it’s just too hot to do anything. C&G are the cutest early risers in the world. I still haven’t fulfilled my New Year’s resolution–still getting up at 8am; but up at 5am-ish, too, to check Z’s glucose, so I always get to enjoy the sun rise. Have a great week–and stay cool! P.S. Did you see the blue moon last week?

  20. August 2, 2015 at 10:21 am

Happy Sunday to you and your pups, Mary! We too rise early, with our Aussie, Jake, and I enjoy the quiet time filled with lots of birdsong. 63 degrees here in Boring, Oregon at 7 AM with a promise of 90+…yikes, we are having one of the hottest, driest summers on record! I so enjoyed your beautiful, peaceful photos this morning…I think we will need to think about living on the water someday…enjoy your day!

  21. August 2, 2015 at 11:40 am

Mary, early morning is my favorite time. I don’t have the beauty of a lake before me, but quiet walks along the creek and in my tree lined neighborhood offer a peaceful time to unplug. Ferris Bueller’s words of wisdom are so true. Can’t count how many times I’ve seen that movie and still laugh my way through. ;-)
Thanks for sharing your beautiful morning. Miss Sadie isn’t an early riser. I have to get her up and out in the morning. She’s a lazy girl!

  22. August 2, 2015 at 4:51 pm

I just love your photos Mary! Any time of the day is beautiful there! Love the photos of the two girls!

Water and peace go together no matter what the time of day. Beautiful photos Mary. My dogs were large and boisterous and lived in our barn at night when we had a horse and pony. I loved letting them out each morning and watching the rolling and snuffling and chasing. Just a marvelous way to start the day – even in the midst of a snowy winter.
Thank you for bringing back memories.

such serene and beautiful photos that make me want to be there instantly. such happy doggies you have! :)

  25. August 2, 2015 at 7:12 pm

so serene and beautiful… at least when you hit 90 you can go jump in the lake, surely that must be a benefit to all your heat :-)

  26. August 2, 2015 at 8:04 pm

Oh how beautiful. I would love a morning like that!! Rusty does the same thing…after getting up goes back to sleep..a Must be a dog thing.

Thank you for sharing the beautiful morning skies !! I love early mornings too, plus with a hungry cat biting at me saying “time to eat” as she is always hungry !! I really enjoy the fall, but June here in Indiana was so wet, I hope to see alittle longer summer :) Has the south always been your home ??

    Stay Cool !

Mary, agree..early risers are we too..love sitting on the screened in porch early, having our coffee watching the hummers and the birds at the feeders. No water, but this year, a field full of corn..I just have one request, no fall yet please..we have barely had any summer due to all the rain. We are just now enjoying some warmer weather and sunshine..thank you very much..love your little puppies, I missour little girl. She was a joy to have around..😍😍😍☀️⛅️

Beautiful! Love your posts! Mornings on very special for us here on the farm! There’s nothing like looking out on the lush green pastures! The alfalfa field ! The rooster crowing! Goats baaing! Ha! Is that a word? Soon two beautiful paint horses will decorate the pasture! Let’s not forget our beautiful dogs and of course the farm cat king! Many blessings! So grateful! Cindy

  30. August 3, 2015 at 9:40 am

If I had that view I would be an early riser too!!! This past week has been TOUGH sleep wise. Joe is having alot of trouble so that means I am awake too. Thank God he is still sleeping right now. But he gets better each day. Chloe and Gracie are so darn cute. Our toy poodle did the same thing; got me up to go out then promply went right back to sleep:) Have a beautiful day. Hoping you get a break from the heat!

We’re early risers on our lake too…mainly because my daughter and husband want to water ski before the boat traffic “wakes” up!! franki

So very beautiful….there is such a sense of calm that time of day. The morning is my favorite time of day too. I love to see the sunrise that ushers in a new day.

Truly poetic! You take the most beautiful pictures, Mary. I so enjoy your lake photos as I, unfortunately, do not live on the water–so peaceful (aah!).

  34. August 5, 2015 at 8:03 am

Mary, Morning is definitely my favorite time of day also. I get up earlier than everyone else so I can enjoy the quiet and the air and light as the sun rises. Your photos are amazing, as always. Linda
