I’m at the table with a fruit and vegetable centerpiece and Mikasa English Countryside dinnerware.
An all-white embossed fruit and lattice design borders the dinnerware of English Countryside by Mikasa for a pattern that’s versatile for casual or formal dining.
Crafted from stoneware, English Countryside is dishwasher and microwave safe, as well as oven and freezer safe.
I filled an urn with a medley of fruit and veggies for a centerpiece for the table. I went shopping in the produce department for greens, reds, and purples to blend with the tablecloth and napkins.
I brought home carrots, radishes, artichokes, cabbage and kale along with apples and grapes, all can be eaten when the centerpiece is disassembled with the exception of the kale that would be too wilted. I added some hydrangeas that have faded to the soft greens and purple shades of late summer to pair with leafy texture of the kale and color of the artichokes.
I was surprised and thrilled to find purple carrots at my grocery store, purple carrots, who knew?! I did a little online search here and found that purple carrots were the predominate carrot variety until the 17th century when Dutch farmers developed the modern-day orange carrot by crossing various cultivated and wild carrots. Who said blogging wasn’t educational? :)
I started by filling the urn with wet floral foam for the hydrangeas to build this arrangement. I used some of the outer leaves of the cabbage to help hide the floral foam of the arrangement. The wet foam also has some weight to it providing some stability since this weight of the fruit and vegetables makes it top-heavy. I used wooden floral picks but you could use bamboo skewers cut to size you need to hold the larger vegetables in the foam. Toothpicks hold the carrots and radishes in place in the arrangement.
An English Countryside Onion Soup Bowl holds 15 ounces and could hold individual desserts or dips.
Mikasa English Countryside flatware handles feature a lattice motif and bands of beading for a textured surface.
And English Countryside offers a napkin holder for luncheon size napkins.
Can you tell I’m ready for pumpkin and Indian corn season? :)
Gorgeous, we have had fall like weather the past week but are going back in the hot box this week, days close to 90 but the nights in the 60’s and it wont last. Another two weeks and AC will be just a memory.
Oh Mary!!!!! You are tempting me, big time, with this display…you have such a wonderful eye for color & design. No wonder Mikasa wants you to show off their wares. I adore that lattice pattern on the silverware handle…well, I love lattice patterns on anything these days.
GORGEOUS fruit & floral arrangement!!!! (along with the backdrop) *mega sigh*
Stunning!!! That centerpiece is fabulous. I imagine you brought the foam high up out of the container? The dishes are great! Love the embossed pattern and also the pattern on the flatware. LOVE your header too.
Mary, you have been truly blessed with the art of design. Yes fall is upon us. It was clear at 7am and now it’s so foggy, we have a warm front coming our way. Thank you for the amazing posts.
I adore English Countryside, Mary, and that is one of my everyday patterns. It is so timeless and beautiful, and you showcased so well. Your urn centerpiece is absolutely stunning! I don’t have the darling onion soup bowls, the napkin holder, or the pretty flatware….sigh! I will check into those.
Mary, This is one of my favorite white patterns and I use it so often. I just love the little strawberries and the lattice design and even the shapes of the pieces and the color of the white. Your urn is amazing! And now I learned something about carrots too and I will look for them in the market! I wonder how they will taste? Well I must be off to see what Mikasa English Countryside goodies I can add to my stash~~perhaps the napkin holder or the onion soup bowls, or maybe both! Linda
Another beautiful lake side table, Mary! The veggie centerpiece is incredible. I’ve never attempted one of these, but you make me want to try. This is perfect. Looks like a painting!
Wowza Mary! That is a Centerpiece with a capital C! Purple carrots, how awesome!!! I kept staring at them wondering if they were some version of turnips~very cool! Perfect with the white dinnerware and the soft palette is a wonderful choice for transitioning to fall. I have always drooled over your rattan napkin rings too, love those!

The purple carrots were the first thing I noticed in the centerpiece….then my eyes moved on to the glorious display of beautiful fruits, vegetables and flowers…..the perfect compliment to those exquisite dishes. I love that they included a napkin holder in the set of dinnerware….always a great thing, especially for a buffet, in which is the way I roll with a large group….gorgeous table as always Mary!…
What a spectacular urn full of fall bounty! That is just so fabulous and delicious looking! Of course, your setting always makes it wonderful too.
